Chapter 88 Finding Out Nova Is Leaving!
Chapter 88 Finding Out Nova Is Leaving!
Nova’s eyes were red with anger. She pushed against Kael’s broad shoulders, digging her nails into his muscular arms.
The man who once made her feel safe now filled her with fear–with cold, bitter disappointment.
She choked on a sob. “Kael, you bastard–don’t touch me!”
Rip!
The hem of her dress tore. Nova bit down hard on his shoulder, her tears falling hot and fast onto his skin.
Kael froze. He reached up, wanting to brush the tears from her face, but his throat felt tight. “Nova, I’m sorry–1..”
Slap!
Nova slapped him hard. Her handprint reddened on his cheek. She pointed at the door, her voice trembling with rage. “Get out! Now!”
Kael’s face was a mix of hurt and confusion. But when he saw the tears streaming down her face, he couldn’t bring himself to argue. He slunk out of the room like a dog with its tail between its legs.
“Get some rest…”
Nova slammed the door shut. When she heard his footsteps fade away, all her strength left her. She crumpled to the floor, sobbing uncontrollably.
Outside, Kael leaned against the wall and slapped himself. Panic and regret swirled in his chest. He didn’t know what to do–how to fix this, how to make her forgive him.
After a minute, he pulled himself together. He went downstairs and made her dinner–her favorite: lemon–herb chicken and roasted vegetables. He placed the tray outside her door, then knocked softly.
“Nova, I left dinner outside. Eat it, okay? Your stomach will hurt if you don’t. He’d never forgotten her sensitive stomach–not even when they were fighting.
Inside the room, Nova sat on the edge of the bed. Her face was pale, as if she’d been sick for weeks. She didn’t say a word.
Kael waited for a response, but none came. He sighed, his shoulders slumping, and walked away.
In her room, Nova stared at her laptop screen and opened the email account, then she noticed something: a series of unread emails from a black–and-white avatar. The earliest one was from three years ago.
Nova’s heart skipped a beat. A strange, heavy feeling settled in her chest. She clicked on the first email.
It was a photo–of a handwritten letter. The handwriting was bold, familiar–Kael’s.
[To Nova: A Love Letter…]
Attached was a video. Kael was sitting in his office, a soft smile on his face. His voice was warm, gentle.
Nova’s mind went blank. This was the letter she’d asked him to read to her years ago–the one he’d refused, saying he was “bad with words.”
In the video. Kael looked at the camera, his eyes soft. Tm sorry I said no back then. I was scared I’d mess it up–scared I wouldn’t say the right things. So I recorded this instead. If you like it… I’ll record more. Whatever you want
There were dozens more videos. Nova clicked through them, her hands shaking. The last one was of Kael sitting with a guitar, strumming softly.
“Our story is like an unfinished poem.
“Every moment is worth keeping.
“You are the most beautiful meeting of my life.
“Let my heartbeat be the melody of our love…”
Chapter 88 Finding Out Nova Is Leaving:
He stopped playing, grinning at the camera. I couldn’t sing someone else’s song for you. The song 1 sing for you has to be yours–only yours. I wrote it myself.”
Nova’s heart ached. She’d stopped checking this email account years ago, and Kael had wanted to surprise her with these videos. A cruel twist of fate–she was only seeing them now, when it was too late.
The longing she’d felt for years–for him to sing to her, to say he loved her out loud–was finally fulfilled.
But it didn’t matter anymore.
Their relationship was broken, irreparable. No amount of videos or letters could fix it.
Nova closed the video, but the pain in her chest wouldn’t fade.
Meanwhile, Kael was in the study.
Nova’s coldness had left him restless.
He sat in his chair, smoking one cigarette after another. His collar was unbuttoned, his hair messy–he looked like a man unraveling.
He stared at a photo on his desk: Nova, laughing, her eyes crinkling at the corners.
When had she stopped smiling like that?
Once, she’d laughed at everything he did–at his bad jokes, at his dumsy attempts to cook, at the way he’d trip over his own feet when he was nervous. Now, she barely looked at him.
A thought struck him. He picked up his phone and called Sam.
‘Mr. Voss?”
Kael’s jaw was tight. He stared at the photo, his voice sharp. “Check the security cameras at the stadium entrance. Did Mrs. Voss go there today?”
Nova’s indifference was eating at him. He couldn’t figure out what he’d done wrong–unless she’d seen him with Sloane.
The thought made his blood run cold. If she had… she’d demand a divorce. She’d leave him.
Panic surged through him. “Hurry. I need the answer now.”
Thirty minutes later, Sam called back.
‘Mr. Voss, the cameras didn’t pick up Mrs. Voss at the main entrance…”
Kael let out a shaky breath. He hung up the phone, his hands still trembling.
Thank God.
Nova’s quietness made sense now–she was just angry about the dress, not about Sloane. If she’d seen him with Sloane, she would’ve screamed, would’ve cried, would’ve walked out. But she was still here.
He relaxed back in his chair, but the relief didn’t last long. His phone rang again–Sloane.
Kael frowned. She’d ruined his surprise earlier, and now she was calling? He answered, his voice cold.
“What? I told you not to call me unless I say so.”
“Sorry, Kael… I just missed you so much. I couldn’t help it…” Sloane’s voice was soft, tearful. On the video call, her eyes glistened with tears, her shirt slipping off one shoulder, revealing a hint of skin.
She bit her lip, her voice breathless. “I’ll be good. Don’t ignore me, please. I’ll do anything you want…”
Kael’s eyes darkened. He felt a familiar heat rising–frustration from Nova’s rejection, mixed with desire.

He lit a cigarette, taking a long drag. “Tell me. How much do you miss me?”
Sloane’s cheeks flushed. She whispered something in his ear, then bit her lip. “I made midnight snacks. Will you come over?” She pulled her shirt down a little more, her eyes seductive.
Kael’s jaw tightened. He wanted to say yes–wanted to forget Nova’s coldness, if only for a little while. But he forced himself to hang up, his voice rough. “Leave ne alone.”
He leaned back in his chair, his chest heaving. A minute later, his phone pinged–Sloane had sent photos.
kael glanced at them, and his heart stopped. He stood up, grabbing his suit jacket
He had to talk to her–now!
it Sloane’s apartment in Moon Bay, the door opened, and Sloane threw herself into his arms, her cheeks pink. “I knew you’d come.”
Cael pushed her away, his voice sharp. “Cut the crap. Where’s the pink diamond necklace?”
loane’s smile faded. It was like someone had dumped cold water on her.
he’d bought that necklace at an auction–it was one of a kind, her most prized possession. But when Kael saw it, he told her to give it to him. She didn’t need to Isk who it was for.
he hit her lip, her voice wronged. “I’ll get it…”
Cael nodded, his eyes scanning the room. He felt inexplicably hot.
loane took her time fetching the necklace. When she returned, she saw Karl sitting on the sofa, his eyes closed, his face flushed.
A smile tugged at her lips. The incense worked.
ael had been cold to her lately–because they had no tie to bind them. But if she got pregnant things would change.
he walked over to him, her hips swaying. “Here you go…”
tael’s body felt like it was on fire. He thought it was the alcohol from earlier, so he closed his eyes, trying to calm down.
hen he heard a voice calling his name–soft, sweet.
le opened his eyes. Sloane’s face was blurry, but her eyes looked like Nova’s–bright, warm, full of love.
Baby…”
His heart skipped a beat. He pulled her into his arms, kissing her lips gently, his voice soft with regret. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have snapped at you earlier…
Will you forgive me?”
loane melted into his touch, her arms wrapping around his neck. “I forgive you…”
he knew it now–Kael still cared about her. He wasn’t as cold as he seemed.
But then he said something that shattered her.
Nova, don’t leave me.”
sloane froze. The warmth in her chest turned to ice. She bit her lip hard–humiliation burning through her. He was calling her Nova.
Kael’s hand pulled at her shirt, his lips trailing down her neck.
A minute later, his phone started vibrating–over and over–on the floor, buried under their clothes.
On the other end. Sam stared at the stack of documents in front of him, stunned.

He Cried at My Funeral Louch.
Chapter 88 Finding Out Nova Is Leaving!
The file contained every detail of Nova’s life lately–who she’d called, where she’d gone, even the paperwork she’d filed.
It was invasive, so he didn’t check them.
Kael had been begging for this report all day. So why wasn’t he answering?
Sam tried one more time–his finger hovering over the call button.
