Chapter 95 The Showdown–Nova Kicked the Cheater Out!
Yet Nova didn’t spare Kael a single glance. She calmly continued applying medicine to Corin’s wound.
Kael’s brows furrowed. He clenched his fists tightly to restrain his anger, his cold eyes fixed on Corin. “Mr. Thorne, what are you doing here?
His tone dripped with sarcasm and barely contained rage, as if he were saying, “Don’t you know she’s a married woman? Didn’t you promise to stay away from her? Why are you here again?”
Corin’s expression hardened. Unwilling to put Nova in an awkward position between them, he stood up and prepared to leave without a word.
Nova grabbed his arm, her voice soft but firm. “Don’t pay attention to him.”
Then, she turned to face Kael, her eyes cold and filled with hatred.
The anger and grievances she’d bottled up for so long finally erupted.
“Kael! I told you to come here to check on my grandmother–you promised, but you never showed up! Do you know she almost got hit by a car?!
“If it weren’t for Mr. Thorne, my grandmother would be dead by now!
“What were you doing while this was happening…?”
Tears welled up in Nova’s eyes. The thought of him being intimate with Sloane at that very moment made her blood boil.
She’d always been gentle and mild–mannered, but this time, she’d truly reached her breaking point
Hearing this, Kael froze in place. His mind went blank for a moment. When he finally processed her words, he wanted to slap himself.
“Nova, I’m sorry. Let me explain-” His voice was hoarse. He stepped forward and grabbed her hand, desperate to make her listen.
Nova’s eyes were red with anger. She shook off his hand in disgust, not wanting to hear any of his excuses. “Get away from me.”
Then, she turned back to Corin, her tone softening as she reminded him, “Apply this medicine orice in the morning and once at night. Don’t get your forehead wet these days…”
Corin pressed his lips together and glanced at Kael, who was struggling to hold back his temper behind Nova, then forced down his own emotions and said gently, “It’s fine. I have things to take care of, so I’ll leave first. Your grandmother is still in the emergency room–go check on her.”
With that, he picked up his coat and strode out of the ward.
It wasn’t that he was afraid of Kael; he simply didn’t want to embarrass Nova.
Behind him, Nova’s face fell. She was grateful that Corin had thought of her dignity–unlike Kael, who only knew how to hurt her.
She lowered her head and wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes. Ignoring Kael, she turned to leave,
Kael panicked completely. He hurried to block her path, his voice tight with desperation. “Nova, let me explain. I didn’t know this would happen. Something came up, and I got delayed. It’s my fault–punish me however you want, but please don’t be angry with me…”
Nova frowned in pain and pushed him away.
She couldn’t believe he had the nerve to say this. He’d been cozying up to Sloane, yet he lied to her about being “busy“…
Her eyes throbbed with pain. Finally, she spoke in a quiet, broken voice, “Kael, let’s separate from now on…”
With that, she turned and walked out of the ward without looking back, heading to the emergency room to find Mabel.

She no longer cared about the messy affair between Kael and Sloane–all she was grateful for was that her grandmother was safe.
Kael’s hands, hanging by his sides, trembled. He even wondered if he’d misheard. Nova… wanted to separate from him?

The medical staff had treated Mabel’s injuries, and her pain had eased significantly. However, she’d fractured a bone and would need several months
of rest to fully recover.
Nova sat by Mabel’s bed, still a little angry. “Grandma, didn’t I tell you to let me know before you go out? And why didn’t you take your phone?”
Mabel knew she was in the wrong and said nothing, quietly enduring the scolding.
Seeing Mabel’s subdued appearance, Nova felt a mix of anger and helplessness. She took Mabel’s hand and said softly, “Please don’t do this again. I was so worried. If something had happened to you, I wouldn’t have known what to do…”
Mabel looked down at Nova, her weathered eyes filled with pain. After a long moment, she asked, “Is what’s online true?”
Nova’s body stiffened, her face pale. “Grandma…”
Mabel’s eyes turned red with anger and sorrow. “Did you get a divorce from Kael? Is he really keeping a mistress outside?
“Tell me the truth! If it’s true, I’ll never forgive him!” Her chest heaved with emotion.
Nova panicked and gently patted Mabel’s chest to help her catch her breath, afraid she’d have a heart attack. “Grandma, please don’t talk about this…”
Mabel grabbed her hand tightly, her voice trembling with determination. “Nova, tell me–Is it true?”
Just then, the ward door was pushed open.
Kael hurried in. When he saw Mabel lying in bed, he bowed beside her, filled with self–blame. “Mabel, I swear on my life–this is a deliberate rumor. I was actually preparing a surprise for Nova that day, but Josh’s men set me up. That’s how this mess happened…
“It’s my fault for making Nova suffer…” He slapped himself hard across the face.
As she saw this, Nova’s expression darkened. She only felt a cold numbness in her heart.
Mabel frowned, unsure whether to believe him. She glanced at Nova, as if asking for confirmation.
Nova’s face was pale. Looking at her grandmother’s haggard appearance, she struggled internally.
Mabel hadn’t fully recovered from her last heart attack, and the doctor had warned that she couldn’t be stressed again.
The issue between her and Kael was huge–Mabel had watched them go from college sweethearts to husband and wife, and she wouldn’t be able to bear the truth.
Nova’s throat felt tight. She squeezed her grandmother’s hand and forced a smile, “Grandma, you can’t believe everything online. Kael really was preparing a surprise for me, but someone set him up. That’s why this misunderstanding happened… You know how ruthless people in the business world are–they’ll do anything for profit.”
At the sound of her words, a flicker of agony crossed Kael’s face–and the guilt weighing on his chest grew heavier, almost suffocating.
Mabel patted Nova’s hand gently, finally letting out a sigh of relief. Tears streamed down her face, “Those terrible people… I thought you two had really split up. Thank goodness it’s not true…
“My poor Nova, you’ve been wronged…”
She wiped away her tears, her heart aching for her granddaughter.
Nova lowered her head, a bitter ache in her chest. But she still forced a smile. “Don’t pay attention to those rumors from now on. Just focus on taking

care of yourself…”
Kael stood up and walked over. Seeing how pale Nova looked, he felt a sharp pain in his heart. He promised Mabel, “Don’t worry. I’ll set the record straight about the online rumors–I’ll give you and Nova an explanation. I’ll take good care of Nova and never let her suffer again.”
Nova let out a bitter laugh. Hearing these sweet, comforting words, her numb heart felt no ripple at all.
He’d already made her suffer enough.
Mabel sighed. She placed Kael’s hand on top of Nova’s and said earnestly, “As long as you two are doing well, that’s all that matters.
“Kael, I know you’re a responsible man. You’ve truly cared for Nova all these years. You must keep taking good care of her.”
Kael tightened his grip on Nova’s hand, his tone firm. “Mabel, I will.”
But Nova’s eyes filled with tears. Once, Kael had indeed been an extremely responsible and loving man. When he proposed, he’d used all his savings as an engagement gift, leaving nothing for himself. Back then, everyone around her had said she’d married well.
Over the years, Kael had treated her with genuine care–and he’d extended that kindness to her family too.
But people change.
The man who had once risked everything to propose to her could now kick her out of the company and use her as a bargaining chip.
The man who had once been devoted only to her could now cast her aside for someone younger and prettier.
Nova let out a bitter smile.
If she could, she wouldn’t act this charade with Kael for even a second. But she couldn’t ignore her grandmother–or her father.
She’d been delaying her departure to ensure her family was settled first. Only then could she leave with a clear conscience.
Taking a deep breath, Nova pulled her hand away. She excused herself to get some water and hurried out of the ward.
Kael watched her leave, a look of loneliness in his eyes.
He knew he’d truly broken her heart this time.
The thought of Nova saying she wanted to separate from him filled him with unease.
He was well aware that Nova had only endured this because her grandmother was present/she would definitely want to talk things through with him later…
