Chapter 10

Yuna curled up in the corner of the hospital bed. At the sound of the door opening, she immediately snapped her head up.

Jason stood in the doorway, his expression cold and unreadable.

“Jason!” she cried, stumbling off the bed. She dropped to her knees with a dull thud, clutching at his pant leg. “I know I was wrong, I really do! Please, forgive me this once…”

Jason slowly crouched down. Without warning, his hand closed around her throat-not tight enough to choke her, but enough to make her tremble in fear.

His voice was low, edged with danger. “Since you came to the Gardner Family at three years old Father has never treated you unfairly. How could you raise a hand to kill him?”

Hot tears spilled from her eyes, sliding down her cheeks onto his fingers. “But he forced us apart.”

“I was terrified! We fought so hard to be together and I was afraid that once he woke up, he would tear us apart again.”

“I just… I lost control and did something terrible, but I know I was wrong now… really, I know!”

Her voice shook, her fingers clutching desperately to his wrist.

Jason loosened his grip and looked down at the woman kneeling before him. Memories crowded his mind as he remembered her calling him “brother” sweetly as a child while running after him.

He remembered her shielding him from a flying soccer ball, leaving a scar on her arm. He remembered her crying under the moonlight the night before she left for abroad, swearing she would always love him and wait for him to marry her.

“You act like you really love me,” Jason murmured, his voice heavy with weariness. “But then why go behind my back? Why sleep with so many men? Is that what you call love?”

Yuna froze. Her sobs stopped abruptly, her face going pale. She hadn’t expected Jason to already know about the photos. Her lips trembled, searching for words.

Then she broke down, screaming hysterically as new tears streamed down her face. “Really? You’re blaming me now?”

“You don’t know how lonely I was in a foreign country!”

“Father forbade me from contacting you. I drowned myself in alcohol night after night at bars.

One mistake led to another…”

“I was driven to it by you, by Father, by loneliness! But even if I slept with other men, the only one I truly loved was you!”

Jason frowned, staring at the woman he had once loved, disgust rising in his chest.

“So that’s your definition of love?” His voice was cold as ice. “Sleeping with countless men while telling me I was your only one?”

“Yuna, you disgust me.”

He stood and strode to the door, his tone flat when he spoke to the bodyguards outside. “Take

her back to the old estate. Lock her in the basement. No one is allowed to let her out without my

permission.”

Behind him, Yuna’s frantic cries echoed through the corridor. “No, Jason, you can’t do this to me. I really do love you!”

“Those men meant nothing. I was only lonely before, but I’m not anymore. From now on, it will only be you!”

Jason didn’t even look back. He simply pulled out his phone and dialed his assistant. “Dig into Yuna’s past. I want to know everything I don’t already know.”

When the call ended, he leaned against the wall and exhaled heavily. All these years, he had neglected his wife, harmed her and hurt her-all for a woman like this.

“I must have been blind.”

His fists clenched as he whispered to himself. In that moment, he realized how much he longed

However, when he dialed my number, a mechanical voice answered instead, “The number you have dialed is no longer in service.”

was truly gone. Without a glance back.

And perhaps… he would never find me again.
