My Son Accepted 25

My Son Accepted 25

Chapter 25

Time flew by. Sean Alcott, my comrades and I kept taking on missions, dodging bullets, walking the fine line between life and death.

The Special Operations Center still echoed with the same sounds as before: shouts during training, tense silence before a mission and laughter after each safe return.

Life seemed to return to normal, though something had quietly changed.

Sean was always by my side, protecting me in his own way. We moved in perfect sync, not just as partners on the battlefield, but as partners in life.

One ordinary training day, the commander suddenly called for a full team assembly. However, when I hurried to the meeting point, it was completely empty.

“Where is everyone?” I called out, puzzled.

Just then, a holographic projection flickered on, displaying a single line of text. [Vice-Captain, Crimson Hawk, please proceed to coordinate X-7 for a special mission.]

I raised a brow. That had Sean written all over it.

Following the instructions, I made my way to the designated spot. The setting sun bathed the hillside in gold, the air still carrying the faint smell of gunpowder from the day’s training.

“Drop your weapon.” Sean’s voice came from behind me, playful and teasing.

I turned around and saw him standing there in the sunset, still in his combat uniform, holding a small box in his hands.

“What kind of mission is this supposed to be?” I asked, pretending to sound stern.

Sean dropped to one knee and opened the box.

Inside wasn’t a ring, but a necklace-crafted from a single bullet casing, adorned with a blue diamond that shimmered the promise of eternity.

“Scarlet Blaine, as the captain of the Special Operations Unit, I’m asking you to take on a lifelong

mission.”

“Mission objective: become my wife. Mission duration: a lifetime. Do you accept this mission?” At that moment, gunfire erupted all around us. The commander and all our comrades stood nearby, firing blank rounds into the sky to cheer us on.

I couldn’t help but laugh. “So, this is your idea of a proposal?”

Sean looked at me, eyes shining with both anticipation and nerves and a soft smile crossed my face.

“Mission accepted,” I gave my reply, clear and unwavering.

His eyes lit up with joy. He then stood, pulled me into his arms and kissed me as our comrades cheered around us.

The commander walked over, wearing an unusually gentle smile. “I’ve been waiting for this day. You two are my best operatives and seeing you end up together is the best outcome I could hope for.”

Surrounded by laughter and applause, I put on the necklace. Peace and happiness filled my

heart in a way I had never known before.

Holding Sean’s hand, I whispered, “I’ll be counting on you for the rest of my life, Captain.”

After all the wrong turns and all the close calls with death, I had finally found my happiness amidst the chaos and the fire of battle.

No matter what the future brings, Sean and I will face it together.
