Chapter 7

It wasn’t until the helicopter disappeared into the night sky that Jason finally snapped out of his

daze.

“Scarlet Blaine, you lunatic! You actually blew up your own house! If you’re so brave, then don’t ever come back here!”

He stood at the gate, shouting at the ruins, though I could no longer hear him.

His chest burned with fury, but there was nothing he could do. All he could manage was to call someone to escort them back to the old Gardner estate for now.

As he lowered his head to pull out his phone, something on the ground caught his eyes. It was the very thing I had thrown at him just before leaving.

When he picked it up and flipped it open, his expression froze. It was our divorce certificate.

We were actually divorced.

Jason stood in front of the rubble, gripping the paper so tightly his knuckles turned white. At that moment, Yuna stumbled over, her face covered in dust and immediately started to scold me in my absence. “Jason, your wife has gone too far. You really need to put her in her place!”

‘And where did she even get that helicopter? Those men-don’t tell me she’s been keeping some boy toys behind your back?”

Timothy tugged on his father’s sleeve, his young voice full of confusion. “Daddy, did Mommy dc something bad? Is that why she escaped in a helicopter?”

‘Enough!” Jason’s roar cut through the air, startling Yuna so badly that she flinched. “Shut up!” His mind was a storm, anger pounding in his chest, but underneath it all lurked an unfamiliar ear. For the first time, he felt like I truly meant it, like I really might never come back.

That cold, final look I had given him still haunted him.

Without hesitation, he typed out a message to his assistant. [Send people worldwide. I don’t care what it takes, just find Scarlet and bring her back to me immediately.]

Later, after settling Yuna and Timothy at the old family estate, Jason locked himself in the study. The divorce certificate lay open on the desk, its red seal glaring up at him.

He sat there in silence, questions tearing at his mind.

When did Scarlet file for divorce behind my back? Why was she in combat gear on that helicopter? And who were those men at her side?

One by one, the questions piled up and yet he had no answers.

Rubbing his throbbing temples, Jason was struck by a painful realization. Even after seven years of sharing the same bed, he didn’t know his wife at all.

In the dead of night, the study door creaked open. Yuna stepped inside, draped in black lace, her perfume faint yet alluring.

“Jason,” she whispered, sliding her arms around him from behind, her voice soft. “Scarlet left because she finally saw the truth that you don’t love her. You love me.”

“She was only setting us free…”

A flicker of hesitation passed through his eyes. Could that really be true?

Sensing his stiffness, Yuna pressed herself closer.

“Remember, it was Father who forced you to marry her in the first place. With her gone, isn’t this exactly what you wanted?”

“We’ve wasted so many years already. Now there’s nothing in our way. How much longer are you going to make me wait?”

“My brother, you know how much I love you and how painful it has been for me to wait this long…”

Her eyes shimmered with tears, the very sight he could never resist.

A wave of guilt washed over him. Yes, she had suffered because of him, year after year.

And now, when fate had finally given them a chance, why was he still hesitating? His Silence was only hurting her more.

With sudden force, Jason pulled her into his arms and kissed her, as if trying to prove something to himself.

They fell onto the sofa, their bodies tangled together as the moonlight slipped through the curtains, casting their shadows across the wall.

Breathless against his ear, Yuna whispered softly, “Let me stay with you forever… please?” Jason didn’t answer. He only tightened his hold on her, using his touch to quiet her doubts.
