Chapter 6
Chapter 6
When the hospital staff saw Henry arrive, they approached trembling with fear, dropping to their knees the moment they saw him.
“Forgive us, Mr. Foster. I don’t understand what happened-everything was fine just moments ago. We’d even completed the cosmetic preparation for Mrs. Foster, but in the time it took to smoke a cigarette, the body just… vanished….”
Henry felt completely numb.
He hadn’t even processed the reality of Isabella’s death, and now these people were telling him she was not only dead-her remains had disappeared.
Towering rage threatened to consume him entirely.
He stared at the doctor before him and threw a devastating punch.
Within seconds, sticky crimson blood coated the man’s face
“I’ve fed and housed you people for years, and now you think sorry makes everything fine?! I spent three hundred million upgrading this hospital’s surveillance system last year, and you’re telling me a body vanishes in the time it takes to smoke a cigarette?!”
The man who’d taken Henry’s punch clutched his face, kowtowing while stammering apologies:
Forgive me, Mr. Foster, I deserve to die…”
Before he could finish, Henry kicked him to the ground.
‘Apologies are worthless! Go investigate! INVESTIGATE! If you can’t find her, you can join my wife in death!”
Quinn frantically signaled the prostrate man, who nodded desperately before stumbling away.
The other doctors scattered like startled birds.
Suddenly alone again, Henry wiped the blood from his knuckles.
His legs gave out, and he collapsed onto a hospital bench.
Though less than half a day had passed, he felt utterly exhausted.
His phone kept ringing in his pocket-he didn’t need to look to know it was Sophia’s distinctive ringtone.
Thinking of Sophia, Henry suddenly bolted upright.
He grabbed Quinn by the collar, lowering his voice to a dangerous whisper.
“How exactly did you say Isabella died? Sophia forced pills down her throat?”
Fear flashed in Quinn’s eyes.
He instinctively shrank back an inch:
“Henry, if you don’t believe me, forget I said anything. Maybe it wasn’t Sophia….”
Chapter 6
“I never said I didn’t believe you!”
Henry’s sharp interruption was followed by a softer tone:
“You must have evidence to make such a claim?”
Quinn tremblingly pulled out his phone, finding a surveillance video and placing it in Henry’s hands:
“Henry, see for yourself.”
Henry snatched the device.
The footage showed Isabella’s hospital room-the stark white space had been made somewhat cozy by her personal touches.
The supplements Quinn had delivered sat on the bedside table.
Isabella held a knitted scarf in her hands, working on it with careful stitches,
At this sight, Henry’s eyes began to sting.
This must be the gift Isabella had prepared for him.
Years of neglecting his health had given him severe frozen shoulder syndrome.
The capital’s winters were brutally damp and cold
Isabella had mentioned wanting to knit him a scarf by hand.
By winter’s arrival, their child should have been born too
She’d planned to have their little one personally place the finished scarf around his neck.
But now their child was gone, and the woman knitting the scarf was gone too…
BANG!
The explosive sound from the surveillance footage shattered Henry’s reverie.
The hospital room door was violently kicked open from outside.
Sophia Sterling stormed in with several men trailing behind her.
She glanced at the supplements on the table, grabbed them, and hurled them across the room.
Then several burly men pinned Isabella to the bed while Sophia pulled white pills from her purse, forcing them into Isabella’s mouth.
As she did so, she didn’t forget to add verbal abuse:
“You filthy whore, can’t stay quiet even after losing your bastard child. Today I’ll teach you a lesson you won’t forget! Swallow them! A piece of trash like you doesn’t deserve children in this lifetime!”
Isabella struggled frantically, but she was no match for several grown men.
The pills were forced down her throat
Minutes later, blood began spreading beneath Isabella once again.

She clutched the unfinished scarf desperately to her chest
ring continuously.
“My darlings, Mommy’s coming to find you. Sweet babies, walk slowly and wait for me…”
As the video continued, Henry’s knuckles turned white around the phone.
“Mr. Foster, we’ve… we’ve discovered… Miss Sterling and her people took Mrs. Foster’s remains…”
Just as these words were spoken, a coquettish voice drifted in from outside:
“Henry, you’re being naughty again. Didn’t you say this was company business? Why are you at the hospital instead?”
Sophia sauntered in and settled herself directly onno Henry’s lap
