“Okay, well first, that’s progress. Second, my brother isn’t the type of man who goes from one woman to another. I don’t care that he and Talia used to sleep together. It’s different at the Academy. From everything that I’ve heard from everyone that has been, it’s just sex. Yeah, you become close with your partners, I don’t know how you could become that intimate and NOT get close to someone. But it’s not a love match. And you know my brother. As honorable as he is, do you think that he’s going go from making you come last night to sleeping with Talia tonight?”
I sigh. That’s the first thing that actually DOES make sense. Sebastiana is right. Christian isn’t that type of man. He wouldn’t be so highly respected by so many people if he was.
“Do us all a favor, Enya. Don’t kill her. I’ll be there tomorrow, and I’ll scope it out. I’m here for you, girlfriend.”
“Thanks, Sebi,” I say.
I hang up, feeling better. I don’t feel great, but I feel better knowing that if anyone knows Christian, it’s his family. Sebi’s right. Christian wouldn’t do that to me.
Now, I just have to survive a dinner and evening with the woman he DID agree to have sex with.

I can’t believe Talia is here! I am so excited to see her. When you live and breathe with people for six months straight, it’s weird suddenly not having them in your life any longer. I feel the same way about Tanner.

288 Vouchers
We were really close, too.
After hugging Talia, I turned, excited to introduce her to Shane and Enya. I was shocked to see the look of anger and was that possessiveness on Enya’s face? I watched her assess Talia as if she were an enemy. This can’t be because of our time at the Academy. Enya knows that Talia and I didn’t have a relationship. Yes, we were intimate, but it’s different at the Academy. We became close, you don’t really have a choice when you’re stripped bare and your classmates witness that. But Talia isn’t anything more to me than Tanner is. She’s a best friend.
I know Talia picked up on it. That’s why she asked more than once about not wanting to be a bother by staying the night. While it’s not my pack and it’s within Shane’s or Enya’s right to say no to having Talia stay the night, I’m glad they didn’t. I miss my friend.
When Shane drags Enya away, I realize I’m going to have to take some time to speak with her. I know that things between us have been blurry. I crossed a line, but I’ve been holding strong, and I haven’t crossed it any further. That doesn’t mean that I’m not struggling with wanting more with her Enya, I really do. I’m not sure what she thinks there is between me and Talia, but of the two, there’s only one that I’m interested in having share my bed, and it’s not Talia.
Making a mental note to follow up with Enya, I begin giving Talia a tour of the pack. I’d forgotten how nice it is to talk to someone who has the same level of understanding about things that I do. It’s one thing to talk to my parents and their friends, but it’s quite another to talk to one of MY friends. Talia picks up on the nuances of everything that was going on in the pack quickly, asking pertinent questions about how I discovered what was going on and then asking about my interactions with the council.
