Chapter 132
“Word on the street is that some Alphas aren’t happy with the current council and that they are pushing for replacements,” she says.
“I thought Councilwoman Zara and Councilwoman Charlotte were great,” I say, making Talia laugh.
“Just the fact that you had to clarify which two you liked says everything I need to know.”
“Councilman Johnathon pissed off Shane and Enya. He met with them individually and asked about me. Both of them are very protective and after everything that has happened, I’m not surprised. I walked into a shitshow and had to take out five of their warriors, including their previous Beta, in the first five minutes.”
She whistles low. “Damn, Christian. That’s one way to make an
entrance.”
“You know the rule. You don’t start the fight …”
“But you damn well better finish it,” she says. It’s one of the things they taught us at the Academy.
We walk in silence for a moment as I show her around the pack lands.
“So, what’s up with you and Alpha Enya?” she asks, giving me a look.
I sigh. I knew she caught the hostility earlier,
“I’ll talk to her,” I say.
“That doesn’t answer my question,” she says, stopping and turning to

Talia and I went through a lot together at the Academy. Yes, we were intimate, but we also talked a lot. We had more time together than Tanner and I did because we were focused on making sure that we exceled in our sex class. But you don’t just strip down and go at it, you have to work up to it. She and I got into a rhythm of talking about school and what was going on that might be keeping us from succeeding. We supported each other, confronted each other, and made the other person better because of it.
I scrub my hands over my face. “I think we might be mates, but Enya is still underage.”
“Well, that explains the look of death I got from her. Shit. Why do you think she’s your mate?” she asks me.
“I want her. I want her so desperately it hurts. She has the ability to make me lose control unlike anyone I’ve ever met before,” I tell her.
“You? Lose control?” She starts laughing. “Oh, I hope I get to see that.”
“It’s not funny,” I growl.
“Are you kidding me? It’s hilarious. Christian, you NEVER lose control.”
“Exactly, Talia! Do you know what it feels like to not have any control around the woman who I’m supposed to be protecting and guarding? It‘ s completely inappropriate.”
“Is it Christian? Or does it go against your ridiculously rigid code of honor?” she asks.
“Being a good man does not make me ridiculous or rigid,” I huff.

“Oh my goddess, look at you. Christian, I almost don’t recognize you. Where is the man who calmly analyzes every situation he’s in? She really has you all twisted up, doesn’t she?”
I swipe my hands through my hair, feeling that damn curl drop right back onto my forehead.
“She wants more, Talia.”
“I’m not seeing the problem, Chrisitan,” she says, her voice soft and
serious.
“I’m her guardian!”
“And you may be her mate,” she says.
“Or maybe I’m not,” I argue.
“Riiiight, because you would let yourself get all twisted up like this over some young she–wolf who’s got the hots for you,” she says slowly as if she’s trying to make sure I hear what she’s saying.
I huff. “No, I wouldn’t.”
