I get out of the car and race into his arms.

“Hey, Sebastiana. It’s good to see you too, but you should have waited to come. I’m in the middle of pack business right now, so I don’t have time to spend with you. I have your room ready, and Ellen will help you get settled,” he says, pulling away from me and gesturing to one of his omegas that I do remember from last weekend. Then he turns to the man beside him. “This is Jaden. He’s been identified as a candidate for the Gamma position.”
“Hi Jaden,” I say, feeling a bit surprised that Shane isn’t ready to spend time with me like he was the last time I was here.
“Hello, Alpha. We’re all hoping we get a chance to spar with you this time. We’ve seen you spar with Alphas Enya and Shane, but you haven’t given the rest of the pack a chance to spar with you,” he says.
“What a great idea, Jaden! We should have the five candidates spar with Sebastiana while she’s here. That would be a good indication of how well each candidate does against a well- trained Alpha.”
Sebastiana. He called me Sebastiana. Not Tiana.
He turns to look at me. “Would you be willing to spar with our five Gamma candidates?” he
asks me.

“Uh, sure,” I say, not at all sure what’s going on.
“Excellent. Feel free to make yourself at home, Sebastiana. I’ll see you at dinner.”

I feel like my heart is breaking. Is he breaking up with me? Does he think that I’m breaking up with him? What’s happening?

He turns and walks off, talking with Jaden. I stand there, staring after him. Then I take off running for the office.
“CHRISTIAN!” I shout, rushing into the office. The Beta, Braden is there. “Christian, I really need to talk to you!” I say, feeling like I’m going to break down in tears.
“I’ll start working on this, Alpha. Let me know if you need anything else,” Braden says before walking out.
“Sebi, what’s going on?” he asks.
I feel like I can’t breathe. “Did I ruin everything? Is it too late?”
“Sit down, Sebi. What are you talking about?”
“Shane! I’m talking about Shane. Did I mess everything up?” I ask, before bursting into tears.
I feel my brother’s strong arms come around me. He doesn’t say anything, and he doesn’t rush me through my tears. He just waits me out.
