4 Chapter 4Â
He hauled me to an abandoned warehouse. The moment Isabelle saw Aidan, she ran over, sobbing. 1Â
She threw herself into his arms, tears streaming down her face.Â
“Aidan, you’re finally here! I thought I’d never see you again.”Â
When Isabelle saw me, her cries grew even more pathetic.Â
“Principessa, why would you have someone do this to me? I would never try to take anything from you.”Â
“Please, just let me go, okay?”Â
Aidan’s cold gaze landed on me.Â
“Seraphina, why can’t you just tolerate her?”Â
“I didn’t do this! This has nothing to do with me,” I insisted.Â
Aidan glanced at the few soldati standing around, then back at me, the suspicion in his eyes hardening into certainty.Â
“Seraphina, are you sure?”Â
Just then, the leader of the thugs spoke up.Â
“It was the Moretti Principessa! She paid us to give this whore a proper welcome!”Â
He then looked at me with a smirk. “Isn’t that right, Principessa? We were just following your orders.”Â
I saw a fleeting, triumphant smirk on Isabelle’s face and knew I’d been framed.Â
“Aidan, I will say this one last time. I did not do this.”Â
“If you don’t believe me, then there’s nothing left for us to say.”Â
He was silent for a few seconds, then pointed at me and addressed the soldati.Â
“Since the Moretti Principessa likes to play games, and she’s already paid you, you might as well play along.”Â
There wasn’t a trace of warmth in Aidan’s eyes. “Let her have a taste of what it feels like to be on the receiving end.”Â
Hearing this, the men’s eyes lit up with a predatory gleam.Â
They started closing in on me, their leering gazes making my stomach churn.Â
“Aidan Callahan! You’re insane!” I backed away, terror seizing my heart.Â
But Aidan just held Isabelle close and turned to leave, tossing a final, cruel remark over his shoulder as he walked away.Â
As his silhouette disappeared, a cold, bottomless despair swallowed me whole.Â
This man, who had once promised to protect me for life, was now abandoning me to a pack of animals.Â

They surrounded me. I fought, I screamed, I clawed.Â
Just when I thought it was over, that they would truly hurt me, Aidan rushed back in.Â
He took them all down with brutal efficiency, then pulled me up from the dirty floor.Â
“Seraphina, I’m sorry. I lost my head.”Â
“I just wanted to scare you, teach you a lesson. I regretted it the second I walked out.”Â
“Seraphina, I still love you. Just… promise me you won’t let your jealousy get the best of you again. You can’t mess with Isabelle.”Â
His voice trembled slightly, and seeing me shiver, a flicker of remorse crossed his face.Â
But I just stared at him, my heart a pile of cold ash.Â
