That morning. Laina ran ten yards along the usual route near home. Julian ran the full distance with her, and afterward, the two of them walked for a bit.
Julian’s eyes stayed on Lama the entire time. His gaze burned with intensity, and Luna definitely felt it.
“Hey, I don’t know what you’re after, but I suggest you drop it,” Luna said coldly. She could tell Julian wasn’t just some ordinary guy. They hadn’t fought, but her instincts told her that this man was dangerous in all the ways that mattered.
After spending years in the Blaze War Department, she’d seen all types. And men like Julian–charming. powerful, and unreadable–were the exact type she had no interest in.
Luna didn’t like drama. She just liked her life to be simple. She was only back to settle a few things before heading back. The Department was where she belonged. Life there was exhausting and intense, but it made her feel alive.
Julian shrugged, thinking, ‘Give up? Not a chance. I waited three years. Searched for you for three years. No way I’m quitting now.”
“I promise, I’m not here to cause trouble, Julian replied smoothly
Luna didn’t respond. She’d said what she wanted. After the run, she stopped by a breakfast shop like always. Julian followed her, ordering the exact same thing she did.
Back at the apartment, Noah noticed his boss’s expression looked a little bleak. He hesitated but still asked, “Mr. Frost, Ms. Blackwood still gave you the cold shoulder?”
Julian shot Noah a sharp look that shut him up immediately.
“Okay, okay. Definitely touched a nerve. Note to self–less talking from now on, Noah thought, instantly backing off.
Noah changed the subject. “Mr. Frost, we got an invitation from the White family. They found out you’re in Metroville and sent it over. It’s for Eliot and Olivia’s engagement party.”
Normally, if small fries like the White family sent over an invitation, Noah wouldn’t have even mentioned it. But given how interested Julian clearly was in Luna, he decided to bring it up.
“Eliot and Olivia?” Julian said, his eyes lighting up. “Of course I’ll go. She’ll be there for sure.”
Noah kept a straight face, but inside, he was sighing. Yup. Knew it. The only reason he’s going is because Ms. Blackwood will be there.
Meanwhile, the White family’s head, Quinn White, was over the moon when he heard Julian would be attending the engagement party..

Getting close to the Frost family had been his lifelong dream. And now, that dream was coming true. How could he not be thrilled?
gave the order. “Spread the word. Tonight’s engagement party has to be perfect. Julian Frost ist
Quinn coming.”
Eliot, on the other hand, wasn’t so sure. As far as he knew, the Frosts and the Whites had never been close, and Julian’s sudden interest in their party seemed suspicious.
“Dad, Julian’s not someone to take lightly. Dealing with him could be risky,” Eliot said.
Quinn snapped, “Shut up. Julian is the real deal. Even in Grovis, he makes decisions that matter. You’re just getting your foot in the door at the Metroville Warfare Division. But one day, you’ll head to Grovis too. You need to start thinking bigger.
Julian controlled everything that mattered in Grovis. His power there was absolute. Quinn wasn’t going to let an opportunity like this slip through his fingers.
“Got it, Dad.” Eliot nodded. He still had his doubts, but he wasn’t going to argue. If getting close to someone like Julian could help his future, it was worth it.
That evening, the engagement party for Eliot and Olivia was held at the most luxurious hotel in Metroville. It was barely past 6 p.m., but the place was already packed. After all, no one in Metroville dared skip a White family event.
