2.Chapter 2 The Trafficking Ring

“Really? Ethan, my stomach hurts so bad. I’m really hungry. I miss my mom,” Aiden Frost whispered. He hadn’t eaten for days since being dragged here.

Just then, several men in black walked in. One of them said with a smirk, “Let’s go. This batch looks good. Should fetch a nice price.”

“Hell yeah. Once we deliver, I’m hittin’ up some hot chicks. Haven’t had any fun in way too long,” another man replied.

Someone else sighed, “Yeah, man. I’m craving women so bad right now.”

They grinned as they spoke, nasty glints flickering in their eyes.

One of them, a man in his forties named Neil Blair, suddenly froze when his eyes landed on Ethan. He swallowed hard, murmuring, “Damn, this kid’s got soft skin. If I just…”

Ethan quickly pulled Aiden behind him and stepped back, his heart pounding. He thought, ‘What are they planning? The way that guy’s looking at me is terrifying. Luna, why aren’t you here yet? Am I gonna die? I-I’m scared too.’

“What the hell are you thinking?” another man asked Neil.

Neil replied in a casual tone, “Relax. The buyer only wants his heart, right? Even if we mess him up, the organ will still be good.”

“True. Still don’t get what they’re gonna do with such a tiny heart though. Rich people’s world makes no sense,” Neil’s buddy replied.

Neil added, “I can’t wait any longer. You guys don’t like this stuff? Fine, step outside. I’ll handle him real quick.”

With that, Neil moved toward Ethan.

Ethan kept stepping back, but the hut was too small. His back soon hit the wall, leaving him nowhere else to go.

“Stay away from me. If you hurt me, my sister’s gonna kill you,” Ethan shouted. To his disappointment, his threat didn’t work at all.

Neil only grinned, spat in his palm, rubbed his hands together, and walked closer, looking filthy and smug.

“Don’t be scared, kid. I’ll make you feel real good,” Neil said, his grin turning more twisted.

Ethan let out a scream. The next second, Neil tore Ethan’s clothes. The six-year-old boy had never seen anything like this, and his face turned deathly pale.

“Back off,” shouted Ethan. Acting on instinct, he bit down hard on Neil’s arm.

Feeling the sting, Neil howled. Rage flashed across his face as he threatened. “Well, you don’t like it gentle, huh? You like it rough instead?”

Without missing a beat, Neil grabbed Ethan by the throat with one hand and lifted him into the air. Neil growled inwardly, ‘You dared to bite me? I’ll make you pay for that.’

In front of the little boy, Neil suddenly felt powerful and confident.

“Luna, help me,” Ethan screamed, clawing desperately at Neil’s hand, trying to pry his fingers. However, he was no match for a grown-up man.

“Help you? Kid, you’re in the hands of Penumbra Group. Nobody’s saving you now, you know?” Neil sneered.

Penumbra Group was a massive international trafficking ring. No one who fell into their grasp ever escaped.

“You sure?” A calm, icy voice cut through the air from outside. The next moment, the hut’s door crashed to the ground.

Ethan’s eyes flew wide as he thought, ‘Is that Luna? Did she hear me? Did she really come?’

Neil turned around and licked his lips when he saw the girl stepping in. He mused, ‘Man, this chick’s so hot.’

Luna’s skin was flawless, her black tank top clung to her body, her camouflage pants and combat boots giving her a sharp edge. Even in such simple clothes, she radiated breathtaking beauty.

“Luna,” Ethan shouted with every ounce of strength he had.
