Olivia hadn’t really meant it–offering anything Luna wanted was just to earn Judy’s sympathy. She just never thought Luna would actually take her up on it. For a moment, Olivia froze, not knowing how to respond.
“Luna, seriously? You’re so shameless,” Celeste snapped, stepping in when she saw Olivia hesitate. “You’re a freaking ex–con. You think Eliot would still want you now?” She turned to comfort Olivia. “Don’t even waste your time talking to her, Olivia, Eliot loves you.”
Olivia shot a pitiful glance at Judy, her voice soft. “Grandma, this is all my fault. Please don’t blame Luna. She’s been locked up for five years. Now she’s finally out, and me and Eliot….”
Judy cut her off. “Sweetie, don’t say that. How could this possibly be your fault? You and Eliot love each other. She’s just jealous of you.”
Luna let out a cold laugh, thinking. ‘Excuse me? Jealous? Of the two idiots? What a joke‘
Sophia’s chest tightened when she heard Judy say that. It made her sick. No matter what, Eliot had originally been Luna’s fiancé. But Olivia went behind Luna’s back and stole him, and now had the nerve to act like she was the one being wronged.
What made it worse was that not a single person in the Blackwood family stood up for Sophia and her children.
Sophia gently squeezed Luna’s hand and whispered, “Luna, it’s okay. Eliot’s not worth it anyway
In Sophia’s eyes, Eliot had never truly loved anyone. A man like that only cared about himself. He wasn’t capable of putting anyone else first.
Luna could feel how much her mom cared for her. She squeezed her hand back and nodded. “I’m fine, Mom.” To Luna, Eliot meant nothing. If Olivia wanted him so badly, she could have him.
“Good.” Sophia gave a nod.
Ethan came over and grabbed Luna’s other hand. “Luna, don’t be sad. I’m always with you. I’ll protect you and Mom when I grow up.”
He didn’t understand everything going on, but even he could tell that these people were pushing his sister and mom around.
“You’re so sweet.” Luna’s heart melted. Seeing her mom and little brother stand by her like this made her feel warm inside.
Meanwhile, Olivia’s fingers curled into a fist. She couldn’t deny that Luna really had changed. She was always beautiful, but after five years, that beauty had become sharper, bolder, and almost aggressively dangerous.
Olivia thought, When Eliot sees Luna now, will he regret it? That sudden doubt made Olivia uneasy.
‘Olivia? You okay?” Judy asked, noticing the look on her face.
Olivia shook her head, forcing a smile. “I’m fine, Grandma.”

She straightened up, telling herself, ‘Eliot is mine. No one’s taking him from me. So what if Luna looks good now? At the end of the day, she’s still a woman with a prison record. The White family would never accept
her.”
Putting on her most sympathetic expression, Olivia said, “Luna, I’m really sorry. I mean it. Whatever you want. 111 give it to you just please, not Eliot, I really love him.”
Luna let out a laugh full of disbelief. “So you didn’t really wanna make up to me, huh? Eliot was my fiancé, remember? And now you’re just acting like you’re the victim? You’re clinging to someone else’s man and want me to feel bad for you?”
Her words cut like glass–casual, but brutal.
1-“Olivia lost her words. The sharpness of Luna’s words left her completely speechless.
“Luna, do you really think the White family would ever accept you? Enough making a scene, alright?” Judy’s voice was sharp, filled with irritation. The more she looked at Luna, the more she hated her.
“Whether the White family accepts me or not is my business. It’s got nothing to do with you,” Luna replied coolly.
“Don’t be so cheap, Luna. Eliot already dumped you, and you’re still hanging on?” Celeste snapped furiously.
Before she could say another word, Luna stepped forward and slapped her across the face twice. The sound cracked through the room.
“Damn! How dare you? Do you even know who I am?” Celeste shouted, clutching her burning cheek and staring at Luna in disbelief.
“You call me shameless? Tell me, who’s really shameless here?” Luna’s eyes were like ice, and the chill in them made everyone’s skin prickle.
“Grandma, you saw that?” Celeste cried, throwing herself into Judy’s arms. “You have to stand up for me.”
“Luna, what the hell is wrong with you? You still didn’t learn your lesson in prison?” Judy barked, furious that Luna would strike so openly.
Luna snorted, “Looks like no one’s taught you what respect means. Well, I’ll do it for free.”
“Luna, please don’t, Olivia pleaded, flustered.
Luna turned her gaze on Olivia and sneered, “Hard to believe. With that pathetic act, you still got into Metroville Warfare Division? Looks like they admit just anybody now, trash included.”
Luna thought Metroville Warfare Division really needed to have a stricter talent election standard.
“You” Olivia’s jaw dropped. She couldn’t believe her ears. Ever since joining the Division, she’d only heard praise. Luna was the first person to ever call her worthless.
Judy cut in, “Enough. Why waste breath on her? Luna, the whole reason we called you here today is to call off the engagement with Eliot. Only then can Olivia rightfully be with him.”

Judy knew that as long as the engagement stood, gossip would never end.

“Why should I? Why should I hand him over to her?” Luna’s tone was cutting. Even if she didn’t want Eliot anymore, she wouldn’t let Olivia take him so easily.
“Luna, you think you still get a choice?” Judy sneered. At her signal, more than a dozen officers from the Warfare Division stepped forward, surrounding Luna and her family.
“Judy, what are you doing?” Sophia gasped. She never imagined they would actually bring in Division officers just to force Luna to back down.
“Chill. As long as you cooperate, nothing will happen. But if you don’t, what awaits you will be harsh,” Judy said with a smirk.
about to begin, and
“Grandma, I… Olivia tried to say something, but then stopped herself. The ceremony was about to she didn’t want any more delays. If Luna didn’t give in, it could ruin everything.
“Don’t Worry,
y, Olivia, Judy assured her. “I’ll take care of it all. No one will make things hard for you.” Olivia was their family’s future, so Judy naturally wouldn’t put her in a tough spot.
Judy. Luna and Ethan are still Blackwood blood. How can you treat them like this?” Sophia’s heart sank. She could see clearly now that they had never intended to let them go.
Judy’s eyes gleamed with malice. “I already said, as long as she cooperates, I won’t hurt you.”
Luna let out a laugh with no warmth in it. “Hurt us? You think you still have the power to hurt us?” That chance died five years ago. Now, Luna was way stronger, and she wouldn’t give them any chance to walk all over her.
