Chapter 31
Luna, Sophia, and Ethan returned to the apartment. Thoughts of the past weighed heavily on Sophia’s mind. She was listless, drained of all energy.
Ethan’s small face was filled with worry when he saw her like this.
“Mom,” Luna said. “You should rest carly. Don’t think about anything. I will make sure they pay for all the suffering you two have endured.”
Sophia took Luna’s hand in her own.
“Luna, Sophia said. “Neither the White nor the Blackwood family is to be trifled with. I know your father’s car crash was suspicious, but right now, all I care about is that you and Ethan are safe.”
No matter how powerful Luna was, she was still just one person. She was now facing the combined might of two families who, once their forces were fully mustered, would crush her.
“Luna,” Sophia urged. “Let’s pack our things and leave here now.” She could not shake the feeling of unease.
“Mom, don’t you worry at all. I can handle this,” Luna felt no fear, for even the combined strength of the two families could not match hers.
She said firmly. “Whether it is what happened five years ago or now, I will make them pay a terrible price.
“You don’t need to think about anything. Just take care of Ethan.”
Luna said no more and took Ethan outside.
Though still very young, Ethan possessed a wisdom that belied his age.
“Luna,” Ethan asked, “is Mom all right?”
“She’s fine. Don’t worry. With me here, no one will ever bully either of you again.”
Ethan wrapped his arms around Luna.
“It’s so good to have you, Luna,” he said. “From now on, no one will bully me or Mom.” He looked at Luna with a sense of awe. The way she had defeated the bad guys had been the most incredible thing he’d ever seen.
“Will I be as powerful as you one day?” He wanted to protect his sister and mother as well, so he had to become powerful.
“Of course you will,” Luna said. “Ethan will be the most powerful of all.”
How could her brother not be strong?
“All right. Go to sleep early. Mom’s been in a bad mood for the past couple of days, so you have to be extra good, okay?”

“Okay.” Ethan nodded. “Don’t worry, I will be very good.”
Ethan lay down on the bed. He’d had a long, tiring day, and it wasn’t long before he fell asleep.

Luna grabbed a bottle of red wine from the cabinet. She poured herself a glass, kicked off her high heels, then carried the glass in one hand and the bottle in the other back to her room.
Noticing that it was a nice night, she opened her bedroom door and stepped onto the balcony. The sky was dotted with stars,
She took a sip, and the smooth taste of the wine made her eyes narrow in pleasure. In that moment, she looked like a lazy cat.
Just then, Julian stepped out, and his gaze fell upon the beautiful scene. The young woman was still wearing a white dress, her long hair flowing down her back in a cascade of dark silk.
The sight of her, a perfect blend of innocence and languid allure, made his heart skip a beat. The dignified. aloof man felt a primal thrum of awareness as his Adam’s apple bobbed slightly.
When Luna turned her head, the simple movement was so stunning it took his breath away. Her eyes met his. and the world seemed to fall away.
Julian had no resistance at all against this young woman.
Luna paused when she saw the man on the adjacent balcony. She knew her new neighbor wasn’t ordinary, but she wasn’t one to pry.
“Mind if I join you for a drink?” Julian asked.
“That depends–if you’re up to it,” Luna replied.
No sooner had she spoken than she tossed her wine glass toward him.
Julian’s reaction was immediate. He knew she was testing him, and with a flash of movement, he caught the glass she had thrown, the action as swift as lightning.
Both of them were highly skilled. The glass was thrown a considerable distance, yet not a single drop of wine spilled out.
A complacent, charming smile appeared on Julian’s face.
He then took a sip from the glass she had used. “Hmm, it’s good. Do you like red wine?”
Luna ignored him, drinking directly from the bottle instead. Bathed in moonlight, she was dazzlingly beautiful.
“Are you in a bad mood?” Julian asked, not at all bothered by her coldness.
“Is that any of your business, Mr. Frost?” she asked without turning around. “Do you always concern yourself with other people’s affairs?” She tilted her head back and took another sip of wine.

point, he could see the lovely curve of her chest and her beautiful, swan–like neck. Ir
“I was just curious,” he replied,
“Curiosity killed the cat,” she said. “You should not be so curious.” With that, she turned and went back inside, still holding the bottle.
“Aren’t you going to take your glass back?” Julian asked.
“No,” came her reply from the other room. “I do not like things that others have used.”
Though she had spurned him again, a faint smile played on Julian’s lips.
When it came to her, every word she spoke and every move she made held an irresistible allure for him.
Luna went to the study, the only room in the apartment that had a laptop.
She got another glass, poured herself some wine, and opened the laptop.
She logged onto the official website of the Blaze War Department and checked what had happened while she
was away.
The Blaze War Department had recently launched the 35 Project–an initiative involving many allied countries. Each ally would select five people to participate.
Louis: [Ms. Blackwood, you’re finally online! How’s your business in the Ironrile Empire going? The War Department can’t function without you!]
Luna: [Not done yet. I’ll be away for a while. For War Department matters, you can consult the other commanders.]
The Blaze War Department had four commanders, all of whom reported directly to Luna
Louis: [Ms. Blackwood, would you consider me for the 3S Project?)
Luna: [Depends on your skills.]
Louis sent more questions, but Luna did not bother to respond.
Strength was the only currency that mattered in the Blaze War Department, and Luna knew it. Despite her familiarity with Louis, she would never give him an undeserved advantage.
After logging out, she signed into her private Dark Web account. The profile was stark, with only a default random username and a black map marked with a gold “J” as its photo.
Metroville International Racing Tournament?
On the Dark Web, she saw that an international racing tournament would soon be held in Metroville- featuring some of the world’s top racers.
