Rogue’s POV
He stared at me for a second, his eyes wide and mouth agape in shock. It was evident that he did not expect me to ask that question, at least as yet. “Uh… I would love it if you called me dad but only if you’re comfortable with that. You can call me Jonathan if you want. I’d prefer if you don’t call me Wilder at all, it feels too impersonal and you’re my daughter,” He answered, stuttering a few words.
A smile broke out on my face as he finished his sentence. “Okay, Dad,” I said, softly. Honestly, calling him dad aloud and not just in my head makes me feel happy. I’ve always wanted a dad. I mean, doesn’t
every child?
I felt my phone vibrate in my purse before the shrill sound of the ringtone pierced the air. Collin jumped, startled by the loud noise. I gently rubbed his back before he could fuss. I took out my phone and sighed, seeing the caller ID. I already knew the topic of our conversation. It’s not like I wasn’t expecting it, maybe not so soon, though.
“Can you…?” I asked, gesturing to Collin and my phone. He nodded and I looked at him
apologetically.
I stood up from the seat with my son in my arms. My father held out his hands to take him but Collin protested and scrunched his face when I tried to give him to my dad. His tiny hands were clutching my top tightly, refusing to let go. He normally becomes cranky and clingy when it’s time for a nap.
“Baby, I will be right back. Okay?” I said, brushing the hair out of his eyes. He sniffed but nodded nonetheless. I pecked his head and passed him to my father.
“Thank you,” I said to my father before taking my phone from the table to go outside.
It had stopped ringing but I knew that it would start back after a few seconds. As soon as I stepped out of the diner, my phone rang again.
I Leaned against the wall of the diner with one hand on my hip and the other holding the phone. I stared at it, contemplating if I should answer. Honestly, I love Shawn but he is a little nosy. I’m almost sure that he hacked the cameras to see how everything was going.
I huffed before I finally gave in and swiped up the green icon, cutting off the sound mid–ring.

“Hello, Shawn,” I answered as sweetly as I could manage. My lip curling into a fake smile, even though he can’t see it.
It appeared that I threw him off guard when he started to stammer a little. Did he really expect me to yell at him when I answered? Okay, I was going to but what was beside the point.
“Um… Hi,” He squeaked. I winced at the high pitch of his voice, moving the phone away from my
ear for a second.
“What do you want?” I sighed and kicked off the wall to pace in front of the diner, impatiently waiting for him to respond.
All I heard was crickets on the other end for a moment. I began to get irritated and was about to hang up when he finally spoke.
“So…,” He drawled. I could hear him clicking his pen, repeatedly, something he does when he knew that what he’s about to tell me would piss me off. “I heard from a little birdie that you got into a fight with the President of the Motorcycle Club.” I could just tell that he wanted to tease me about that incident. That damn President is already causing me problems.
My grip on the phone tightened to the point I have to force myself to relax before I crack the screen. I noticed a man standing a few feet away, who was eyeing me up and down. Now, he wasn’t bad looking but I was already in a bad mood, so, I sneered at him. His eyes widened before
he scurried off to his car and drove away.
“Shawn,” I said calmly as if I didn’t just strangle him in my head. “Yes?” He answered cautiously. “Who the fuck told you about that?” I gritted, rubbing the side of my head as I felt an oncoming headache. There were no cameras in the President’s office, so he could not have found out by hacking. The only way he could have known was if someone told him.
I heard a quiet ‘oh no‘ from him but decided to ignore it, for now. “Well?” I demanded. He seemed
to have gone mute.
Suddenly, there was a long beep coming from the phone. Did he just hang up on me? That little shit. One of these days…
I sighed and tucked my phone into my back pocket before walking back into the diner. The first thing I saw when I entered was my father cradling a sleeping Collin in his arms. Okay, I lied. I actually noticed that delicious looking apple pie on our table.
I sat down at the table. “Do you want me to take him?” I asked, gesturing to Collin.

He shook his head and nodded to the pie and a cup of coffee. “I ordered that for you. I hope that’s okay,” He said.
“Yes, it is. Thank you,” I replied, picking up the fork to take a bite.
My eyes widened when the taste hit my tongue. Holy shit. This is the best pie I’ve ever had in my life. Dad chuckled, seeing my reaction. “Good?” He questioned.
“Amazing,” I told him and took another bite. “Compliments to the chef.”
“I’m glad you like it,” I look up startled. Helena smiled. I did not notice her approaching.
I returned the gesture. “Can I get another piece of this to go, please?” I requested.
“Sure, hun,” She said, picking up the empty plate and sashayed away. I hide my amusement when I saw my father’s eyes follow her.
“You didn’t want anything?” I inquired. He turned back to me, startled. “Not even a drink?”
lit up. “Nah. I’m good, sweetheart,” I could tell that he was happy that I was concerned as his eyes
I tilted my head, checking on my son. “We should leave soon,” I started, “I need to put Collin to
bed.”
My father frowned. “Are you still staying at the hotel?” I nodded, furrowing my eyebrows.
“I spoke to Pyros. He said that you and Collin can stay at the clubhouse but there are conditions.” My father remembered.
I sighed and placed the fork down. “I don’t know. I don’t think your President likes me that much, despite his feelings towards me as a child.”
He bowed his head, thinking about something. “I’m sure that’s not true. He probably just had a bad day. That’s all.”
I huffed, closing my eyes to weigh the pros and cons. The pros are that Collin and I could get to know our family, maybe new friends and protection. The cons are that I would have no choice but to see Pyros, possible conflict in the club and there is the chance that the club could be attacked by
rivals.
“How many people are there in the club?” I need to know.

He answered, scratching the back of his neck, “I’m not really sure. Pyros knows, obviously. The last time I checked there were 200 members of the club but that was 2 years ago. Many more men had joined since then. That is only in this town, though. We have other chapters all over the country. Although, I know that 15 men live in the clubhouse.
I absorbed the information. After a moment of thinking, I finally came to a decision. Actually, maybe not yet. First I have to hear what stupid condition the President have for us to stay at the
clubhouse.
