Rogue’s POV
I knew that I caught him by surprise when he saw me in his clubhouse so early in the morning but I really didn’t have much of a choice. I got a call from a friend of mine at 5:00 AM, saying that he needed my help. I could not refuse him nor did I want to because he has helped me many times in
the past.
This was the only time I could have spoken to Pyros before I left the country with my son. Right now, Collin is with Harley so I could convince him that I am not a threat to him or his club. I don’t really want to stay in the same house as him but my father insisted. I understand where he is
coming from, though.
I sat with my ankles crossed and my hands entwined on my lap. Pyros was leaning against the wall, looking at me in amusement. Oh, what I wouldn’t do to wipe that fucking expression off his
stupidly handsome face.
He pushed himself off the wall and took a seat on the chair next to me, which was surprising.
“Well?” He asked, raising an eyebrow.
It took me a second to remember what he was waiting for me to say. “Listen,” I started, scooting
to the edge of the seat, facing him. “I understand why you want to do a background check on me and I am okay with it but don’t you think having someone follow me around is a bit… much?”
He rubbed his stubbled chin, then placed his hand on the back of my chair, leaning impossibly
close to me. I felt my breath catch in my throat as our faces were almost touching. I do not like
this proximity. At. All.
“Let’s make a deal, shall we?” He said after a moment. The smirk on his face told me that
whatever he had in mind wasn’t going to be easy. However, whatever it is, I am going to ensure
that I win.
I urged him to continue. His eyes traced every inch of my face before he spoke. “Let’s have a race. I can find a motorcycle for you to use.”
I gave him a pointed look. “Seriously?” I should have expected that a race would be the first thing that he’d say.
“What?” He asked as if he didn’t know that a race would be unfair.

I answered, glaring at him. “First of all, you’ve been riding a motorcycle since before you could walk properly and secondly, you have ten years more experience than me. Also, you didn’t even ask if I can ride a motorcycle.”
He nodded his head. “You’re right,” He admitted, removing his hand from the back of my chair and finally giving me some personal space.
He ran a tattooed hand through his dark hair as he thought about what we could do instead. After a few minutes of silence, he spoke, “Do you know how to play pool?”
I have no idea what I was expecting him to say but that definitely was not it. “Yes,” I replied, wearily. “But-”
He cut me off. “If you have a better idea, I’m all ears.” When I didn’t say anything, he continued, “Then it’s settled. If you win in a game of pool against me, I won’t have anyone follow you around and you and your son can stay in the clubhouse.”
“Fine,” I relented. I stood up and walked to the door before pausing when I realised that he had
not moved. “Come on. Let’s go.”
He sighed and finally got up, leading the way to the pool table which was in a room on its own. Thankfully, everything was already laid out and ready. Pyros gave me one of the cue sticks after he
added the chalk on the tip.
I nodded in thanks. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a coin. “Heads or tails?” He asked.
“Tails,” I responded. He tossed the coin in the air and caught it in his fist before it hit the floor, placing it on the table. We looked at the coin. He smirked. “Heads.”
I rolled my eyes. “8 Ball?” I asked to be sure and he nodded.
And the game started.
I carefully removed the rack from the balls. Since Pyros won the coin toss, he has to break. When he shot, none of the balls was pocketed, so it was my turn. I bent slightly over the table and positioned myself at the best angle to shoot.
I could feel his stare on my back but I shook my head and focused on the game. I need to win. I
pulled back my arm and hit the white ball with the cue. I smiled when one of the striped balls landed in the pocket.

“Nice shot,” He commented but I didn’t reply. I took aim again but none of the striped balls
landed.
I backed away from the table and looked at Pyros. “Your turn,” I said as I leaned against the wall. He got two of the solid colour balls into the pocket and groaned when the third ball hit the table, missing the hole.
“So, where are you going this evening?” He asked, curiosity glinting in his eyes. I walked closer to him, brushing his chest as I passed by to get to the angle I wanted. I could swear I heard him
inhale deeply.
