She tilted her head up, glowering at me. “I don’t need luck.” She pushed against my chest, taking a few steps back when I released her. “I won. No one will follow me, right?” she asked but by the tone of her voice, I could tell that she was more demanding.
I nodded, reassuring her. I always honour my word. “Thank you,” She said softly, a total contrast
in her voice from a second ago, her lips tipped up a little.
“Don’t get me wrong,” I started, ensuring that she knew I was being serious. “I still don’t trust
you completely but I don’t think you are a threat to my club. You and your son can stay.”
She sighed in relief. “I promise you that I will never be a danger to your club.”
“Good,” I said, “You can move in after you’re back in town and the background check is done.”
“Okay.” She nodded in acceptance.
“Why are you leaving town?” I asked out of curiosity. It’s a little bit suspicious that she’s leaving
after only finding her father a few days ago.
She narrowed her eyes, probably thinking it’s none of my business but it is my business to know.
“I’m visiting a friend,” She stated, crossing her arms.
“Why?” I asked, raising an eyebrow.
“I haven’t seen him in a while,” She answered with a shrug, then ambled to the door.
I clenched my fists, telling myself that it was not jealousy. I can’t be jealous for obvious reasons, The word alone left a bitter taste in my mouth. “Him?” I hissed unintentionally and accidentally
bumped into the table trying to get to her. I cursed lowly.
She flinched at the loud sound and whirled in my direction. “Problem?” She sneered.
“No. No problem,” I said through gritted teeth.
“Great,” She said before walking out the door. I was half expecting her to slam it but she closed it
softly.
I facepalmed. Why the fuck did I say that?
I exhaled heavily as I calmed myself. After a few minutes, I decided to leave the room. It wasn’t a

surprise when I saw her sitting by the bar, surrounded by our fathers and Mac. I swear they are like the three fucking musketeers.
The bar was mostly empty since it was too early in the day and most of the club was at work.
“Did everything go smoothly?” I asked Wilder as I approached. He shook his head, clenching his jaw. “We had a small problem but it was handled.” I nodded. The look on his face told me it was serious but I realised he didn’t want to say anything in front of Riley.
“Is everything okay?” Riley asked as she noticed her father’s change in mood. He smiled at her. “Yes, sweetheart. Nothing to worry about,” He said, casting me a glance.
She didn’t seem to believe him but she did not say anything. She twisted her wrist to look at the time on her watch and sighed. “I should leave,” She said. “I have to pack.”
The old men complained simultaneously. “How long will you be gone?” Wilder asked as they
stood up. I guess she already told him that she’s leaving town.
“Only a few days,” Riley replied. “I’m sure the time will pass quickly and you won’t even notice that I was gone.”
Her father pulled her into a hug and kissed her hair. “Promise me you’ll be safe,” He muttered. They broke the hug. “I promise,” She reassured.
She briefly hugged my father and Mac before turning to me. “You better keep your word,” She narrowed her eyes.
“Of course,” I scoffed. “See you soon, darlin‘.”
She scowled and rolled her eyes. “Whatever.” Then she faced the three musketeers and smiled. “Bye.” They replied with a wave and Wilder frowned sadly as she turned to leave.
She brushed against me as she walked to the door. I inhaled her sweet, tantalising scent deeply. Fuck, I love her scent. I rubbed a hand over my face.
As soon as she left, Mac asked, “So, what did she mean?” He wiggled his eyebrows.
I glared at him. “None of your business.” I snarled. Then I told Wilder to meet me in five minutes before I walked away briskly to avoid any more questions. Mac is the nosey one out of the three. I heard their laughter behind me which annoyed me further.
I slammed the door to my office and groaned. Riley is going to be the death of me, I swear.
