Rogue’s POV
“What the fuck, Killian?” I seethed, clenching my fists. He stared at the floor, not meeting my
eyes.
“1-,” He Started but I cut him off as I slapped my hand hard against his cheek. “I deserved that,” He muttered, cupping his face.
1 sneered, pushing his shoulder, “You deserve a lot more than that you asshole!”
He nodded in agreement as he hung his head low. “I didn’t think when I made that deal. I was so fucking arrogant.” He choked, covering his mouth. “I thought I would win.”
“You basically sold your own sister because of your fucking ego?!”
“It wasn’t like that!” He exclaimed.
I shook my head, laughing humourlessly, “That’s how it sounds to me.‘

This is unbelievable. I thought he was one of the smart ones, clearly, I was wrong. His sister,
Sofia, did not deserve what happened.
“Walk me through everything again. Do not leave a single detail out,” I demanded, putting some distance between us before I was tempted to throttle him.
Killian gulped, tugging at the collar of his shirt. “I had a meeting with the Russians to discuss an alliance,” He paused to take a drink of water. “The Pakhan refused and was about to leave when
Sofia walked into the Office.”
He cleared his throat before continuing, “Something changed in his demeanour but I didn’t realise until later. He proposed a deal. He would form an alliance with us if I beat him in a game of poker.”
After a moment of heavy silence, “And if you lose?” I asked. I already knew the answer but I wanted to hear him say it.
“If I lose Sofia goes with him.” He said solemnly as if he didn’t have the choice to refuse.
I gritted my teeth, “What did Sofia say about this deal?” I questioned, massaging my forehead.

“She was against it,” He sighed. “But I told her not to worry. I failed her, Riley and he took her. I tried to get her back but he said he would hurt her.”
The Russian Pakhan, Ilya Morozov is a monster but he has his own moral code; innocent women and children are off limits. Although, he is an excellent liar, from what I’ve heard.
Killian slammed his fists on the desk. “He wouldn’t even let me speak to her.”
“How long ago this happened?” I raised an eyebrow. That should have been the first question I
asked.
“How long ago, Killian?!” I demanded when he hesitated to answer.
He mumbled a response, “A month.” It was so soft I almost didn’t hear. Almost.
I scoffed before taking a deep breath. I swear my blood pressure is through the roof right now because of him. “Why didn’t you send Giorgio to find her? He is the best of the best, after all.”
“He tried and failed. Ilya damn near gutted him before Sofia stepped in to save him. You are my last hope, Riley. Please.”
I narrowed my eyes, “What do you mean she saved him?”
He replied, running a hand down his face. “Ilya was torturing Giorgio when Sofia found them. She somehow managed to stop him from killing Giorgio.”
I thought for a second before speaking, “Did Giorgio tell you this?”
“Yes, but Ilya also sent it on video to try and warn me, I guess.”
Based on what I know about the Russian, he is merciless when it comes to those that wronged him. He would never just let Giorgio go because he was told. Unless…
“Show me the video,” I demanded brusquely. I took a seat behind his desk and watched as he stood beside me, pulling up the video on his laptop.
Killian clicked on the video and took a few steps back, rewatching it over my shoulder. “There isn’t anything of use, by the way.”
I cut him a look, “That’s for me to decide.” He nodded, muttering sorry.
I turned back my attention to the video. There was no sound but the image was clear and I could

see everyone’s face. Good.
Ilya picked up a sharp–looking blade, making a small cut on Giorgio’s shoulder. He made a larger cut on his abdomen, letting a tiny smirk show on his face when Giorgio winced. Other than that, both of their faces were devoid of emotions.
Just as Ilya dug the knife deeper in his Giorgio’s wound, a petite figure stepped out of the shadows. The only words I could read on her lips were, ‘What the fuck,‘ before she turned her back
to the camera.
I watched in fascination when I saw the change in Ilya’s expression. His eyes softened and his shoulders dropped as if the weight he was carrying disappeared when he noticed her in the room. How Killian didn’t realise that Ilya actually seemed to care about Sofia is beyond me.
She took the knife from him and threw it on a metal table before poking Ilya in the chest and
pointing at Giorgio. Then she stomped out of the room. The video cut.
“You are such an idiot,” I said to Killian, swerving around to face him.
He scratched the back of his head, “Yes, I am well aware but why do you say that after watching
the video?”
I groaned into my hands. I can’t believe I travelled to Italy just to deal with bullshit. I could have
been spending time with my newfound family but alas I’m here. I understand why Killian didn’t
realise that Ilya cared for his sister because reading people isn’t his strong suit but I swear it was painstakingly obvious.
