Chapter26
Speak of the devil. Caller came barrelling out of the house with a gun held tightly in his hand. The little boy hid timidly behind his legs, peeking from the side. When he realized I saw him, he went running back into the house.
“Vincent,” I said, calling him by his actual name. “What do you plan on doing with that?” I furrowed my brows in mock confusion.
He sighed in relief when he saw that it was just me and Slash. “You realize that I could have killed you, right?” He said, lowering the gun and then tucked it in the back of his jeans.
I huffed. “I did tell you that I was going to visit in a few hours.”
“Right. You want to talk to my woman. You didn’t say you were bringing this prick, though,” He shot a glare at Slash. “I should have aimed the gun at him and ‘accidentally‘ pull the trigger.”
“I apologized,” Slash threw his hands in the air dramatically.
Caller narrowed his eyes as he spoke. “You better keep your slimy paws away from my old lady,” He warned, pretending to shoot him.
“As much as I enjoyed this, I need to speak to Indigo,” I cut off their childish behaviour.
He nodded and gestured towards the house. “She’s in the living room, probably trying to comfort my nephew after you scared him,” He mused, walking ahead of us.
Indigo sat on a couch in her living room, trying to soothe the kid as he told her about the scary
men outside, aka, us.
She stood when she saw us and held the boy’s hand. “Cory, these are your uncle’s friends. This is Pyros and Slash,” She introduced, pointing at us.
“Hi,” Cory mumbled shyly. He glanced and Caller, who swept in and lifted the child into his arms, causing him to laugh heartily.
“This little
guy needs a bath. We’ll be back,” He said, shooting Slash a pointed look that said, ‘don’t even look at my wife for too long or I would rip off your spine.‘
Slash huffed and gave him a thumbs up.
Indigo rolled her eyes and chuckled. “Please sit,” She said, waving her hand at the couch. “Vince

said you wanted to talk to me but he didn’t about what. So, what’s up?”
“What do you know about Rogue? The woman responsible for shutting down some skin trades,” I
asked bluntly.
She sucked in a breath, not expecting that question. “She’s responsible for much more than that,” Indigo said vaguely.
“Like?” Slash asked, leaning forward in interest.
“She didn’t just shut down those vile operations, Rogue helped those people get back on their feet and actually live.” She gazed at the floor, looking lost for a few seconds. She shivered in what I assume is disgust and refocused on us.
“Sorry, I don’t like talking about that.”
I gave her a small smile, “It’s okay. You don’t need to speak about it, we understand.”
She sniffed, “I assume Vincent told you that Rogue saved me years ago.” She ran a hand along a long scar on her arm. “It’s not what you think. I’m sorry, I can’t tell you much more.”
“You have no reason to apologize. We appreciate anything you’re willing to tell us,” I told her.
“Why do you want to know about her?” She questioned, wiping away a stray tear that slid down
her cheek.
I rolled my shoulder, trying to relieve the stiffness before answering, “She’s here. Well, we believe somewhere in California. There are people looking for her. They think she’s working with us and are willing to fuck up my business. I want to know who they are and what she’s doing here.”
Normally, anyone who isn’t a patched member of the MC is not allowed to know about club business but Indigo has the information we need and has proven that she could be trusted. She would do anything to protect those she cared about and I know that includes the club.
She nodded, taking in what I just revealed to her. I can practically see the wheels turning in her
head.
I turned to face Slash, who has been silent for the last few minutes. He met my eyes for a second and then looked at Indigo. “Can you describe Rogue’s appearance or anything that can identify
her?”
She became rigid for a moment before relaxing. “I didn’t actually see her face. It’s a long story and

there is no time to explain, I have things to attend to in a bit.” She hesitated for a second before adding, “She has blond hair. That’s all I know.”
She stood up and we followed suit. “Listen, I wish I could help more but…”
“It’s okay,” I reassured, “We’ll get out of your hair. Thank you for your help. Tell Caller we’ll see him tomorrow.”
She walked us out the door and hugged us briefly. “You’re welcome anytime.” She closed the door.
As soon as we were a distance away, Slash spoke, “She lied to us.”
I straddled my bike, “Indigo is obviously protective of Rogue and I figured she wouldn’t tell us what we wanted but at least we know that Rogue does not have blond hair.”
