Chapter33
Rogue’s POV
It has been three days since we moved into the clubhouse and my son has been loving the attention he gets from everyone. He has them all wrapped around his little finger, with the exception of Pyros. I haven’t seen him since the welcome party and if I didn’t know any better, I would say he was hiding from me.
I sighed as my stomach rumbled. It was 2 o’clock in the morning and I couldn’t sleep. I shouldn’t have skipped dinner but I was trapped in my mind, thinking about everything.
I slipped off the bed and rolled my shoulders. It felt stiff from laying in the same position for a few hours. I peeked into Collin’s room and smiled as I saw him bundled up in his favourite blanket.
My father had tucked him into bed and my son refused to sleep until he read him a story. It wasn’t long before he drifted off to the sound of his grandfather’s voice. Apparently, that was the only
way to get me to sleep when I was my son’s age.
I crept down the stairs, trying to be as silent as I could. I’m not sure why I’m acting like a thief when the rooms are soundproof. I learnt that on the first night when I woke up in the middle of the night when I opened my door and loud sounds filled my room.
Roman told me that some of the bikers were out on a run. So, there was really no real reason for
me to sneak like I am.
As expected, most of the lights were off in the hallway and the ones that were on were very
dim.
“What are you doing?” A gruff voice asked from behind me. I flinched in surprise, hitting my head
on the wall. Damn it, so much for no one seeing me.
I rubbed the sore spot, turning around to glare at Pyros. “Just going to the kitchen.”
“Then why were you acting like you didn’t want to get caught?” He asked, raising a dark eyebrow.
I shrugged and continued walking, silently groaning as I heard him follow me. Not that I particularly minded since it’s his place but I thought I would be alone.
I took out the box of pizza from the fridge. “Do you want some?” I asked him as a courtesy.
He shook his head and filled the kettle with water. “I just want some strong caffeine.”

Now that the lights were on, I could see him better. His clothes were dishevelled and he looked like he hadn’t slept for days. Maybe he hasn’t and that was why I haven’t seen him for the past few
days.
Pyros groaned in satisfaction as he took a sip of his coffee. “Fuck, I needed that.”
“Why are you up so late, anyway?” I asked out of curiosity as I sat beside him. He glanced at me before averting his eyes back to the counter.
As I was about to tell him that he didn’t need to answer, he spoke. “I have been busy these past couple of days. We had an influx of new prospects recently and had to complete a lot of paperwork.”
I hummed in acknowledgement. At least he’s not avoiding me. A lot of people assume that the only things bikers do are drink, fuck and fight but that’s not true at all. I guess some clubs run
that
way but not all. Many clubs have an established system when they recruit new members and keep records of everything.
“Is there anything I can do to help?” I offered. He had been kind enough, and I don’t mind helping as much as possible.
He scoffed. “Unless you have experience with the form for concealed carrying a weapon.”
I pursed my lips and brushed back my hair. “Well…” I dragged, looking at him.
He narrowed his eyes, placing his mug on the counter to give me his full attention. “You do?”
I nodded and answered, “I filled out the form when I first arrived in California. I was lucky to
know someone who approved it quickly. I had to fill out similar forms in different countries.”
Pyros gulped down the rest of his coffee before turning to me. He had a look of consideration as he stared, no doubt considering if to accept my help. He was without a doubt thinking about the reason I had a weapon. I wouldn’t tell him that my work is sometimes dangerous and that I have enemies but if he asks I’d say for protection. Thankfully, he didn’t.
After a moment, he sighed as if giving up an internal war. “Fine, you can help. The prospects have already filled out the forms, so all we have to do is ensure the information is there. I’ll tell you more in the morning, you should get some sleep. Meet me in my office at 9 AM sharp.”
He walked out, not giving me a chance to say anything. Hmm, that seems like the most decent conversation we’ve had so far. Anyway, it’s time for bed, tomorrow should be interesting.

I only got about five hours of sleep before I was woken up by Collin. He was awake and jumping in
his crib.
“Morning baby,” I cooed as I lifted him in my arms. He was getting so big too fast. “Did you have a good sleep?”
“Mhm,” He answered, giving me one of his million dollar smiles before he snuggled into my neck. He has always loved cuddling as soon as he woke up.
It didn’t take long for me to get him and myself ready for the day. I hope Pyros won’t mind Collin coming with me. I would have asked my father or brothers to look after him but I knew they were busy today. I vaguely heard something about a shipment.
As 9 o’clock approached, I made my way to Pyros‘ office with Collin propped on my hip. I gently knocked on the door and waited for him to answer before walking inside. I’ve been in his office before but it looks a little different. I guess he repainted it and added some things.
“Good morning,” I greeted with a smile, stopping in front of his desk.
He mumbled incoherently, not looking up from the papers he was reading until Collin squealed loudly. That got his attention in an instant. He narrowed his eyes at my son and shot me a glare. “What is he doing here?”
“Well,” I started, going over to the two–seat couch he had and setting Collin down, “I had no one to watch him so I brought him with me.” I opened my bag and pulled out some of his toys to keep him occupied for a while. He eagerly reached for his toy car.
Pyros huffed a breath and leaned back in his chair, brushing a hand through his hair. “So I have to listen to a toddler while I work?” He asked incredulously.
I bit back a grin and replied, “Don’t worry, he’ll be quiet.”
I failed to say that my son has never been quiet a day in his life and he is always full of energy but I’m sure Pyros will grow to love him. This is going to be an interesting few hours and I look
forward to it.
