Pyros‘ POV
I glared at the toddler from across my desk as he made a particularly loud sound as he played with his car. Riley had just left to speak to one of the prospects about some missing information on his form and decided it was a good idea to leave her child with me. I would love to know what gave her the impression that I know what to do with the child. The last time I was even near a kid was over ten years ago when my little sister was that age.
So far, he has been silent except for the occasional vroom or whatever but even I can see that he’s getting bored. After a few minutes of reading through these forms, a car flew close to my head, nearly hitting me. It was just luck that I ducked on time.
I huffed an agitated breath and narrowed my eyes at the toddler. He had a guilty expression on his
little face.
“Sorry,” He mumbled, bowing his head and pouting.
I sighed and stood up, striding over to where he sat. I stayed a little distance away from him, crossing my arms. When he glanced up at me, I saw tears welling in his eyes. I cursed silently before crouching in front of him.
“I’m not mad,” I said in the softest voice I could muster but it still sounded rough to my ears. “It’s okay, just don’t throw any objects.”
He gave me a slight nod and pointed to the car he threw across the room. I realised what he
wanted and got up to get the toy car.
“Sit,” He demanded, patting the space beside him on the couch.
Seeing that I apparently had little choice in the matter, I did as he wanted and he picked up another car, pushing it back and forth. I guess I’m playing with toy cars now. What the fuck? I mimicked his actions and he started to giggle. I’m not sure what was funny but at least he wasn’t crying.
Not long after, Collin yawned loudly and rubbed his eyes. He looked at me for a second before climbing onto my lap. I stared as he snuggled into my chest. What the fuck do I do now? He didn’t seem to care that I was practically a stranger.
I hesitantly placed a hand on his back, patting it gently. He fell asleep quickly and I didn’t want to

move in case I woke him. After sitting in silence for a while, my eyes began to feel heavy.
I must have drifted off because the next thing I knew, Riley was shaking my shoulder. She had a small smile on her face and her grey eyes seemed to shine. Fuck, She’s really beautiful. I shook my head, trying to get those thoughts out of my head.
It was only then I realised Collin was missing. She must have noticed my panic because she said, “Roman returned from his run and I gave Collin to him.”
I let out a breath of relief that I hadn’t lost her son. I have no idea what she would have done if I
had.
“Did you get the information from the prospect? What did he say?” I asked her as I sat up from my slouched position.
She brushed the hair out of her face before taking a seat next to me. “He said that it was a mistake and I gave him back the form. He filled out the rest of it but for some reason, my instincts tell me that he’s lying.”
I thought for a moment. “I’ll have Cyber run a more thorough background check.”
She nodded, “Okay, thank you.”
We had already finished going through the rest of the forms so all I have to do is submit them. I’ll do that tomorrow since it was getting late. “Did you have dinner yet?” I asked as I felt my
stomach rumble. I wouldn’t be surprised if she heard it.
“No, I was just about to make a sandwich,” She replied as she stood up.
I followed suit. “Let me take you to dinner,” I said before continuing when I saw the confusion on
her face. “As a thank you for helping me. It would have taken much longer without you.”
She sighed. “It’s okay, you don’t have to.”
“I want to,” I responded sincerely. I walked to the door and opened it, gesturing for her to exit the office and follow me.
I decided to take her to a little diner about thirty minutes from here. They made the best food I’ve ever tasted and I insisted that Riley tried it since she had never been there. Well, I think it’s because she hasn’t really had the chance to explore yet.
“What would you like to eat?” I asked her as she skimmed through the menu.

She looked at me placing the menu down on the table. “What do you recommend?”
“Hmm, I would say the Crispy Chicken Sandwich,” I said, pointing to the picture. Everything was delicious here but that’s my favourite.
“Okay, I’ll try it,” she replied. “I’ll hold it against you if it tastes bad, just so you know. I’ll never trust you again.” She grinned.
I signalled for the waitress. “Don’t worry, it will be the best thing you’ve tasted in your life.”
She huffed and didn’t comment. She’ll believe me soon enough. I discovered this place five years ago while I was riding. It had just started raining, I was hungry and I just so happened to spot this place. It was a pop of colour in the dark, literally. The sign above the diner was dazzling and eye
catching.
We waited for about fifteen minutes for the food to arrive. It was quick, seeing that there were a
lot of people here. I chuckled when I saw Riley’s face after she took her first bite of the sandwich.
“Wow,” She mumbled, taking another bite. When she finally noticed me watching her, she placed the sandwich back on the plate. “It’s fine, I guess.”
I scoffed and began to eat. I glanced at her from time to time and had to hold back a laugh every
time because of her expressions. This diner had some secret sauce that they put in their
sandwiches and I’ve never tasted anything like it anywhere else.
“How long have you been president of the club?” She questioned after she finished her food.
I thought for a moment before answering, “About four years ago, my father said he was retiring and passed the title onto me. It was on my twenty–eighth birthday.”
“That’s great,” She said. “From what I’ve seen, you’re an amazing leader and your men look up to
you.”
I honestly had not expected her to say that and I didn’t think she paid attention to those details. Nevertheless, I appreciated it. “Thank you.”
We spoke for about thirty minutes before deciding to leave. She was really interesting to talk to, which I didn’t expect. I learned a lot about her and her life but I could tell there were some topics she avoided like her son’s father. I also know that she’s hiding something but it’s her secret to keep so I’ll respect her privacy. After talking with her tonight, I’m starting to trust her a little
more.

When we got to the clubhouse, I walked her to her room. “Tonight was nice. I had fun.” She smiled and I had the sudden urge to ensure she never stopped. Then she surprised me when she stood on her tiptoes and kissed my cheek before going into her room, leaving me standing outside her door looking like an idiot.
I could feel heat rush up my neck. I touched my face in the spot she kissed. That was unexpected.
Damn.
I inhaled sharply and stalked to my room. Fuck, I’m in trouble now.
