They had obviously noticed something was wrong with the woman.

The moment we stepped off the train, we were surrounded by a group of men.[]
A man rushed forward and swept the woman into his arms, his face filled with panic.[]
“What happened, baby? I got you that ticket–how did you hurt like this?”
Before the woman could answer, she passed out in his arms.
The man’s expression instantly turned ice–cold, veins bulging in his forehead and neck.[]
He swept his gaze over us and let out a furious roar.[]
“What the hell happened?! Who did this to my wife?! Nobody’s leaving until I get some damn answers!“[]
His voice carried a deadly menace that made my blood run cold.[]
I was about to step forward and explain what really happened when Carter beat me to it, pointing straight at me.

“It was her! She stole your wife’s seat and that’s how she got hurt on the train! Ask anyone–they all saw it!“[]
He quickly shot meaningful looks at the other passengers behind him. []
The smart ones caught on immediately.
This guy looked dangerous as hell, and they hadn’t spoken up for the woman on the train anyway. []

that there was a scapegoat, they were desperate to wash their hands of any responsibility.[]
They immediately chimed in with their lies.
“Yeah! It was totally her! She said her stomach hurt and just listen!“]]

A murderous glint flashed in the man’s eyes. He stepped forward and grabbed me by the throat, then slid a knife from his sleeve and pressed it against my neck.

Sharp pain shot through my neck as the cold blade broke my skin. I could feel warm blood trickling down my throat.[]

Through the crowd, I caught a glimpse of Carter and Nina smirking with satisfaction.[]
