She was tightly bound, her mouth gagged with a piece of cloth, and water trickled down from her face to her collarbone. Her head still felt foggy. 

“Pfft-” She spat out what she could, biting her tongue to shake of the dizziness. 

A man wearing a mask stood over her, his build was oddly familiar. 

Ash moved her hands slightly, testing the ropes. The knot wasn’t perfect–if she had enough time, she could work her way out. “Who are you?” she asked, her voice full of contempt. “Scared to show your face? Oh, what a man you are.” 

The guy laughed, but his voice was altered, as if through a voice changer. He was clearly prepared for this. “Oh, you will find out soon enough whether I’m a man or not. Still got some fight you, huh? I like that.” 

He stepped closer, eyes gleaming with greed. “You’re like a wild cat, hard to break, but it’ll feel so good when I do.” 

Ash scoffed. “Wild cat? Please. Guys like you love chasing what you can’t have. And the ones who care about you? You ignore them. I’m pretty sure I know who you are. But let’s be real–you are not actually going to hurt me, are you?” 

He hesitated for a second but tried to stay cool. “Does it really matter? Play nice, and maybe I will be gentle. But keep pushing, and you’ll regret it.” 

“Oh, how terrifying,” Ash replied with mock fear, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “I’m shaking in my boots.” 

Ash smirked. “Mr. Shelton, really? Kidnapping me over something so minor that happened last time? That’s a bit much, don’t you think? If this gets out, it’s gonna look real bad for you.” 

The man paused for a second, then snapped, “Who the hell is M Shelton? Stop playing games. You think you can trick me?” 

Ash raised an eyebrow. “Oh, I see. You just gave yourself away. People always do that when they’re lying. Nice job, Mr. 

Shelton.” 

“Shut up!” he barked, storming over and grabbing her face, squeezing her cheeks hard. “You just don’t know when to quit, do you? I’ll make sure that mouth of yours stays shut.” 

Without missing a beat, Ash slammed her head forward, nailing him right in the cheek. He yelped in pain, stumbling back, his eyes now burning with fury. “You’re a real bitch. Keep acting bugh. We’ll see how long you last once we’re in bed, you little slut.” 

Ash worked faster to untie the knot, keeping her cool. The drug ill had her feeling weak, but she was almost there, just a little more. 

However, before she could finish, the man stepped closer, holding a handkerchief. Without saying a word, he pressed it over 

her face.

Her vision blurred, and as she started to pass out, she faintly head a loud crash. Then, everything went black. 

When she finally came to, the first thing she saw was Eleanor’s Le looming over her. “You’re awake, finally,” Eleanor said, her voice sounding loud and relieved. 

Ash nodded, still feeling weak. “What happened? Who saved me

Eleanor looked uneasy, clearly feeling bad about,the whole situation. After all the time she’d worked for Ash, this was the first time something had gone wrong. When they got separated, she’d fallen into a trap and got stuck in a net. By the time she managed to track Ash down, Calvert was already there. 

Ash glanced over at him. The sunlight from the window hit just right, casting a golden glow over his otherwise cold demeanor. 

Eleanor, sensing the mood, quickly said, “I’ll leave you two alone and excused herself. 

Calvert stood tall, his gaze sharp. “The owner and designer of Dream Couture–how many more secrets are you hiding that I don’t know about?” 

Ash propped herself up against the bed, glancing around. The decor told her she was still in the Wonder Club, so she hadn’t been out for too long. 

Her voice came out a little rough, probably from whatever drug they had used. “You’re so curious about me, does that mean you’re interested? 

“Don’t forget, Mr. Snider, we’re only in a business arrangement. Keep your thoughts professional–anything else wouldn’t be appropriate.” Her confidence seemed to return as she spoke. 

Calvert’s gaze didn’t waver, and his lips curled into a cold smile. You’re really too big for your boots, aren’t you? Not exactly a great look for a woman like you.” 

Ash shrugged, not too worried. “Yeah, I am. So what? Haven’t you figured that out yet?” 

“Ash, do you even realize how bad things could’ve been if I had shown up a little later?” Calvert’s tone was serious, no room for jokes. 

He thought she was way too reckless. If he had arrived a second later, who knows what could’ve happened. One thing for sure, she definitely wouldn’t be lying here, casually teasing him. 

But Ash stayed calm. “It’s already happened. I’m safe now, so what’s the point in being scared? Fear doesn’t do anything for 

me.” 

She met his eyes directly and said, “I owe you one. If you ever need something, just say the word. I prefer to clear my debts quickly.” 

Ash had messaged Bailey before she entered the club. If she hadn’t checked in within 15 minutes, Bailey should send her location to Calvert, making sure he found her. 

Calvert stepped out of the light, his expression tightening with iritation. He didn’t get why hearing her say that annoyed him so much, but it did. She seemed way too nonchalant about er own safety. 

“You’re too careless, Ash. You should at least care about your own self till the next year. That’s the bare minimum respect for your partner, Calvert’s voice sharpened with irritation.
