Early the next morning, Funtime Games. 

Vanessa Whitney hadn’t rested for nearly half a month and was on the verge of death from overwork. 

“Do you want to go back and rest today? You look terrible.” Ash had light makeup on, and wore a simple T–shirt and jeans. Her long black hair was tied in a bun, youthful and beautiful, 

Vanessa waved her hand. “The main character still has a few drafts that haven’t been finished. I’ll take a break after they’re done.” 

Ash felt a little ashamed of herself. She was the boss of this company now. Vanessa was working herself to death, but she could feel at ease taking two days off at home. 

She took Vanessa’s arm. “This project is in a hurry to go live, but it’s not that urgent. No matter what, you take your team home to rest today. I’ll handle the plan in the afternoon.” 

Although Ash hadn’t made a game before, she still knew the general process and what should be done at each step. 

Vanessa, with huge dark circles under her eyes, thought for a moment. “I’ll stay with you in the afternoon, and after the meeting I can take a rest tomorrow, okay?” 

In the end, Ash couldn’t persuade her otherwise, so she agreed. 

[Ash, where are you? I’m waiting for you in your office. I have something to tell you. Alison wants to work at Funtime Games for a while.] The message was from Lachlan Turner. She looked down and quickly scanned it, her expression not very pleasant. 

She went to her office and saw Alison sitting on the sofa as if she owned the place, crossing her legs, looking very comfortable. 

“Ash.” Lachlan’s gentle expression was full of helplessness. Ash guessed that that Alison must have been sent here for some compelling reason. 

Ash smiled at Lachlan, then saw Alison, and her smile faded. “What a rare guest. What are you doing here? Or rather, what are you planning to do in this company?” 

“I’m here to work on a project.” Alison snorted, speaking confidently. 

Ash did not question the certainty in her words. After all, Alison was also a member of the Turner family. Even though she had been pampered since childhood, she must have some abilities. 

“Ash, there are reasons for this. I’m sorry, but I need her to stay here for three months.” Lachlan clearly had his reasons. 

She nodded. “It’s okay. My company happens to be short of staff. Everyone is welcome. Since she’s family, her salary will be the same as mine for now, which is unpaid. We’ll see how it goes after she achieves some results.” 

“So I’m here to help you for free? Ash, are you doing this on purpose? Don’t think you can drive me away like this.” Alison was furious. 

Ash put her hand on her hip and raised an eyebrow. “What if I am doing this on purpose? If you don’t like it, you can leave now. Oh no, you said it yourself, I can’t drive you away like this. 

“You can get paid, on the condition that your project yields results. Funtime Games doesn’t support idlers. Stay if you can accept it.” 

In the past two days, Ash had someone ask around about Alison. She studied game development abroad for both her

bachelor’s and master’s degrees, so she must be somewhat capable. 

Lachlan looked at Alison, her tone softening, “Alison, are you sure about this? You can still change your mind.” 

“I can do it! So what if there’s no salary? Are we that hard up for money?” Alison was determined to join Funtime Games, no matter the obstacles. 

Ash held a hint of triumph. She could not refuse this free labor that was delivered right to her doorstep. 

She felt that Alison was truly a fool. 

Seeing Ash’s smug smile, Alison couldn’t shake the feeling that she had walked into a trap. This wasn’t how she envisioned things would go. 

She thought, ‘Shouldn’t Ash be against me joining the company? 

‘Why did she agree so readily? 

‘What is Ash’s ulterior motive?‘ 

“Ash, I’m sorry.” Lachlan still felt bad for Ash. 

The Turner family had many branches. Although they were the main branch, they couldn’t make all the decisions. Many things affected the whole family. 

As the head of the family, they needed to think twice before acting. 

Ash felt that her family loved her too much, so much so that they would immediately blame themselves for any minor issue. 

“Why are you apologizing? I should thank you for sending me free labor. I understand why you did this.” Ash was very sensible and understanding. 

Hearing this, Lachlan felt even more guilty. “No matter what, I’m sorry about this. The funding approved by the company has come down, Ash. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself. 

“Funtime Games used to be glorious, but now it’s in such a state. It will take time to get back on its feet. I don’t want you to put too much pressure on yourself.” 

She smiled and nodded, then chatted with Lachlan a bit more. They both had a lot of work to do, so Lachlan left, leaving her and Alison in the office. 

Ash looked at her with a playful smile. “Alison, you’re so thoughtful. You should have told me earlier that you wanted to come to the company. I would have let you come sooner. Your talent is rare.” 

“Don’t call me that in such a sarcastic tone! Just get someone to show me around. And lose the attitude, we’re not that close.” 

The more Alison disliked it, the more Ash would do it. Ash couldn’t help it. She felt like she was born to be annoying. 

“But you are my sister. We are blood–related. You don’t like it?” Ash teased her deliberately. 

She thought Alison’s personality was okay. It was much better than Jade, who disguised herself every day. After all, Alison was straightforward. 

Alison was so angry that she stood up abruptly. “Find someone to show me around now. I need to start working! Don’t try to make small talk with me. This is a workplace.” 

“Oh, alright. If that’s the case, you might have to go to the HR department for an interview first, because you resigned before. You might not be able to directly join without considering our relationship.” Ash raised an eyebrow and retorted lightly.

Alison was so angry that she was trembling slightly. She opened her mouth but couldn’t say anything for a long time. Finally. she could only give up in frustration. “Don’t call me Alison in a weird tone during work!” 

“Okay, then I will call you that in private.” Ash curled her lips.
