Dexter’s face changed. “Are you threatening me with Calvert?”

“Yes, I threatened you with him. Why? If you can threaten me with grandma, I can threaten you with other people. If you want me to agree with all your unreasonable requests, I have the right to bring any means to defend myself.” 

Ash didn’t want to go this far, but Dexter had been pushing her patience for so long. He would never back down unless someone beat the hell out of him. 

Ash only wanted to get Sofia out of the hospital quickly. “We can think about those things later. Let me give you 150,000 first.” 

“You want to transfer the money now? How can I believe such a light sentence?” Dexter’s eyes rolled around, unwilling to take her words. 

Just as Ash was about to retort, she heard a cold voice behind her. “Do you think we are discussing with you? This is a notice. We’ll call the police and you won’t get the money if you don’t decide within half an hour.” 

“As far as I know, before the Moreno family declared bankruptcy, they had transferred a large amount of money to several 

accounts.” 

Hearing this, Dexter’s face looked nervous. However, he remained calm. “Enough! There’s no need to say more. You’ll hear my decision later. But now, I want my money.” 

“You don’t have the right to negotiate with us before you do your thing,” Calvert said firmly, and the oppression in his tone made people have to obey. 

Dexter took a deep breath. Facing Calvert, he didn’t dare to argue further. He did his best to calm down and said, “Well, I’ll go now.” 

Ash saw Dexter’s hypocritical appearance and sneered. Regardless of his age, his demeanor remains as childish as always. 

Ash sat on a chair on the side of the corridor, physically and mentally exhausted. “Thank you, Calvert.” 

‘Didn’t you say you wanted to learn to use your resources rationally? Why didn’t you ask me to talk to him directly?” Calvert crossed his arms, lowered his head slightly, and looked at her. 

Ash leaned back, her beautiful eyes slightly closed. “It’s way too complicated. I don’t want you to be involved, but in the end, it’s you who helps. 

I owe you for this matter, and I will pay you back in the future, not to mention other things. I don’t want to owe too much to anyone, even my parents.” Ash opened her eyes, and she smiled slightly, 

Calvert didn’t say anything. He stood on her side, and after a long time, he asked, “What time is it on the weekend?” 

The topic changed suddenly and quickly, and Ash was stunned. “What? Oh, you mean the Turner family party. If I’m not mistaken, it’s around ten on Saturday morning. The party is at their house. 

“They will have a shooting competition. Do you mind participating?” The gauze on Calvert’s arm had been removed, but his 

scar remained. 

Calvert moved his arm and said, “I’m fine. The scar should take a while to recover, but it doesn’t hurt anymore.” 

“That’s good to hear, but you still need therapy. You have had some sprains on your joints before, remember? If you don’t deal with it now, it will be fatal in the long run,” Ash explained.

The two chatted for a while, and not long after, Dexter walked out of the ward, “It’s settled, your grandma agrees to go with 

you. 

“Now, what about my 150,000? When will you give it to me?” Dexter immediately demanded. 

Calvert took a card and handed it to him, “Now disappear from our eyes immediately!” 

Dexter took the card without hesitation and nodded, “That’s more like it. If you need anything, don’t hesitate to call me.” 

Ash frowned. She didn’t know what Dexter had said to Sofia in the ward. When Ash entered, she saw Sofia staring out the window in a daze. 

Sofia lived for Dexter all her life, but seeing Dexter become such a bastard, Ash couldn’t help but ponder, ‘Has she ever regretted her decision once?‘ 

“Grandma, let’s go home.” Ash suppressed her pity in her heart. She approached Sofia and added, “Things are almost packed.” 

Sofia didn’t say a word and got into the car obediently. She didn’t say a word along the way, except to say hello when she saw 

Calvert. 

Ash still wondered what Dexter had said to Sofia, but she could feel that Sofia was not satisfied. Regardless, she held her hand affectionately. 

As the car stopped, Sofia finally spoke, “I don’t want to live in such a massive building. Send me back to my hometown. If you are worried about me, hire someone to care for me.” 

“I’ll be the one to care for you, Grandma.” Everything has a priority, and Sofia is always Ash’s first. 

Sofia pulled her hand and looked serious. “I don’t need you to take care of me. If you insist on doing this, I will leave so you can never find me!” 

‘Grandma, why? Why on earth are you doing this to me?” Ash frowned, wondering what she did wrong. 

She knew Sofia didn’t want to drag her down, but she was no longer the incompetent girl she was back then. Ash was within her ability to raise Sofia. 

Sofia turned her face away, and her attitude remained cold. “I’m tired. Send me back to the hospital. I don’t want to live with you.” 

Ash was so aggrieved, “Did he tell you something? Why are you hiding it from me? Why do you believe whatever he says? Do you know how much I’ve missed you all these years? Every time I think about never seeing you again in my life, my 

heart aches. 

“Whenever I think about you in the past few years, I regret I was never there for you. Without you, I wouldn’t have existed. So, if you’re tired of living, take me with you, and we can die together.” Ash said all her grievances and sadness. 

Hearing that, Sofia’s calloused hands wiped away the tears on her face before giving in. “Okay, I promise to return with you, but you can’t spend too much time and energy on me.” 

Ash brought her to an apartment she bought after graduating. She planned to renovate it and asked Sofia to live with her afterward. But before she could do anything, Dexter told her bad news. Fortunately, the universe treated her well and gave her another chance to meet Sofia. 

Sofia entered the house, sat on the sofa, and looked at everything with blurry vision before asking. “Jewel, that boy just now, do you like him?”

Ash was pouring water and paused, stunned. “I like him. If I don’t, why would I agree to marry him? 

“Do you feel something off from him, Grandma?” 

“No. As long as you like him, I think he’s fine. I’m just afraid you’ll hurt yourself.” 

Ash held the glass and said, “I’m glad you like him.”
