The makeup artist nodded emphatically. “This young lady is genuinely stunning. Her porcelain skin and striking features could rival any starlet. And that natural glow! Those eyes especially are absolute works of art.” 

With this, the artist officially enlisted in the hype squad. 

Ash gave a muffled smile. “Are you an actor hired by Sofia?” 

“No, no, you’re legitimately gorgeous, that radiant kind of beauty, but with zero intimidating edge. Truly rare combo.” The makeup artist backpedaled instantly. 

Sofia nodded in agreement. “Jewel was born beautiful, and that lovely face has never changed since childhood. Remember when folks claimed she’d grow ugly? I knew they were wrong. Look at her now, more stunning each year. 

‘She blossomed young, and age didn’t diminish her. If anything, her grace just grew more extraordinary.” Once Sofia started praising Ash, there was no stopping her. 

The relentless praise was starting to fluster Ash. “Sofia, I’m always perfect in your eyes. Alright, enough now! Go rest. This’ll take about another hour.” 

‘I have nothing to do here. I might as well keep you company. Or am I being a bother?” Sofia joked, and her eyes still stayed on Ash. 

Ash laughed along, though an inscrutable melancholy lingered beneath her gaze. “How could it be? Having you here is what makes me happy.” 

“Does Calvert need makeup later? And has he seen you in the wedding dress before?” Sofia caught herself broaching painful territory again and quickly pivoted. 

She shook her head. He doesn’t need to wear makeup, just do a little styling. He hasn’t seen me wear a wedding dress yet, and I must show it to you for the first time.” 

Ash changed into the wedding dress, and the moment the makeup artist pulled the curtain, Softa held her breath, and she was stunned for a long time before she came back to her senses. “You are so beautiful so beautiful, Jewel!”

She had not yet put on her veil, and the earrings and necklace around her neck were all pearl jewelry, which was simple but generous. Calvert was wearing a black suit, and some details were embellished with fine pearls. The two were unmistakably decked out in matching couples‘ attire. 

“I really didn’t think about it before. We even had a wedding by mistake. It really surprised me.” 

Calvert blinked. “There’s nothing to be surprised about. There are always unspeakable variables in life.” 

‘Bring me my shoes.” Ash was not interested in continuing the conversation when she heard this philosophy of life. She pointed to the slippers not far away.
