When Vania opened her eyes, the face that greeted her was no longer Calvert’s, but Jade’s.

Jade, her eyes full of concern, was sitting beside her. The moment she saw Vania stir, she leaned forward, her voice soft and gentle. “Vania, are you okay? Do you still feel any discomfort?“Jade Turner 

“Jade, how did you get here?” Vania’s voice was still shaky, though the rest had calmed her a little. Yet, the tremor in her words betrayed the tears that had yet to fall. 

Vania still deeply trusted Jade. After returning home, she immediately contacted her, seeking comfort in her time of need. 

Jade gently brushed her fingers across Vania’s cheek, her eyes filled with unshed tears. Her voice soft and filled with regret, she murmured, “You’ve suffered so much. I was caught up in filming and didn’t immediately see your messages. I’m so sorry, Vania.” 

‘We’ve put you through so much, Vania,” Jade said, her voice breaking as she took Vania’s hand. “How could this happen? You’ve always been so kind–hearted.” 

Tears finally welled up in Jade’s eyes. “It’s all my fault. I should have warned you sooner to be more careful. When you told me you were seeing someone, I should have been there with you and met him in person. If I had been there, I would have given you some advice. Maybe things wouldn’t have turned out this way.” 

Jade’s voice trembled with guilt. “I’m so sorry. It’s my fault. I should have paid more attention.” 

Vania’s eyes welled up again at Jade’s words. “No, it’s not your fault. I’m the one to blame for all of this. Dorothy always said I was naive and trusted people too easily. I used to argue with her, but deep down, I knew she was right. I was the one being foolish.” 

“There were so many red flags back then. I should have been more careful,” Vania murmured. 

Jade shook her head and bent down to hug her tightly. “Vania, this isn’t your fault. None of this is on you–it’s on them. Don’t blame yourself.” 

“You’ve suffered enough, and yet you’re still blaming yourself. That’s not right.” Jade gently wiped the tears from Vania’s face. “Please, don’t cry anymore.” 

“Such a beautiful face… If you keep crying, it’ll ruin it. I checked earlier, and it’s just a small scratch. I have some ointment- once I put it on, it’ll heal quickly,” 

Jade gave a faint smile. “Soon, your face will look just as before, so don’t be upset. The ones at fault are they, not you. Don’t blame yourself. You haven’t done anything wrong.” 

Vania leaned against the headboard, her eyes shut tight. “But every time I think about it, I just want to die. Why wasn’t it someone else? Why is it me? What did I do wrong? Why does it have to be me?” 

“Jade, why…?” Vania’s tears streamed down her cheeks. 

Dorothy’s heart broke outside the door as she listened to Vania’s sobs. Her eyes were red with grief, “Calvert, no matter what it takes–even if I have to search every inch of the earth–find this person and bring them to mel 

“Dorothy, I’ll take care of this. You need to focus on your health, Calvert replied calmly yet firmly 

Dorothy had always struggled with heart problems, and getting too upset was never good for her health.

Dorothy had always considered Vania a little spoiled, but deep down, she knew Vania was genuinely good–hearted. She could be a bit delicate sometimes, but she had never done anything wrong. 

“Dorothy, I’ll get to the bottom of this as soon as possible. It seems that Jade helps stabilize Vania’s emotions, so let her stay with her tonight.” 

Though Dorothy didn’t particularly like Jade, she knew Calvert was right. Right now, nothing was more critical than calming Vania’s emotions. 

She nodded. “Just have her stay in the guest room next door.” 

“Tomorrow morning, once Vania’s emotions are stable, have someone take her home,” Dorothy said. She wasn’t keen on Jade staying in the Snider family any longer. 

“Dorothy, I’ll take care of everything. You don’t need to worry.” 

Dorothy stared at him silently for a moment before speaking, her voice firm. “Calvert, you’re with Ash now. You shouldn’t be involved with anyone else. What happened between you and Jade was just an unfortunate twist of fate. Keeping your distance is best now that everything is back on track.” 

‘Dorothy, I’ve never had any romantic feelings for her. Our past interactions weren’t because of engagement. She’s here to stay with Vania, and we have no reason to send her away once she’s helped.” 

He paused momentarily before continuing, “And given Vania’s current condition, she won’t recover in a day or two. I’m planning to arrange for a psychologist to help her.” 

Vania’s emotions were unstable, and this incident had caused her significant emotional trauma. If she didn’t get help soon, it could become a lasting shadow over her life. 

She needs to see a doctor,” Dorothy sighed. “Never mind, I won’t say more. I’ll keep an eye on Vania. But you need to find hat man as soon as possible.” 

After some coaxing, Jade finally managed to get Vania to eat something. She came out carrying the tray and ran into Calvert. ‘Calvert.” 

Has she fallen asleep?” Calvert glanced at the tray and noticed that Vania had eaten most of the food, which relieved him He hadn’t rested, and a rough stubble was starting to show along his jaw. 

She nodded slightly. “She’s asleep now, though it’s because she cried out. But she’s still restless, her eyes so swollen she can barely open them. This time, Vania was truly terrified.” 

‘Don’t leave her alone for now. She often has thoughts of hurting herself,” Jade continued, her voice tinged with concern ‘Calvert, if you don’t mind, I’m on leave for the next few days and can stay with her.” 

Jade quickly corrected herself after speaking. “I don’t mean anything by it. Or, if you prefer, you could have Ash stay with her. It’s easier for girls to talk about certain things together.” 

“Stay with her,” Calvert said, a faint weariness in his eyes. “I will arrange for someone to send you home the day after- tomorrow. I will arrange for a psychiatrist to see her tomorrow evening. 

When Jade heard that he would arrange for someone to send her home in two days, her expression faltered slightly “Calvert, given Vania’s condition, she probably won’t be willing to see a psychiatrist

“My vacation is about a week long so I can stay with her for the next few days. It’s not ideal for her to stay here, but I can take her to my apartment. As for the psychiatrist, I’ll try to convince her, but if I push too hard, I’m afraid she won’t be able to accept it.” 

Jade’s words were reasonable, leaving Calvert with no excuse to refuse.
