Dexter raised his hand to slap her. She didn’t hide, but she wasn’t hit either. Dexter was stopped by a tall woman. 

The tall woman grabbed Dexter’s wrist tightly and swung it back hard. “Sir, what are you trying to do? We are in public. I called the police.” 

Dexter’s hand was turned back. With a click, it was somewhat misplaced. His face instantly turned pale. He frowned in pain, “Who are you? It has nothing to do with you.” 

“Who I am has something to do with you.” 

Dexter gasped in pain. “What does who you are have to do with me?” 

The tall woman nodded indifferently. “Yes, so who I am has nothing to do with you. You committed the crime of intentionally hurting others. Although you didn’t manage to slap her this time, you might have done that before. You have to be arrested first. When enough evidence is collected, you will be convicted.” 

“If I’m imprisoned, how will you explain to your grandma?” Dexter was somehow shocked by the tall woman and shouted at Ash. 

Ash just thought that Dexter was being really embarrassing. “I’ll let you leave for now, for my grandma’s sake.” 

The tall woman did not interrupt. She was just trying to help Ash. Whether Ahs needed it or not had nothing to do with her. 

“Thank you.” The reason why Ash didn’t hide was that he knew that Dexter would not dare to slap her in the face, no matter 

what. 

The tall woman appeared very suddenly. She waved her hand to show that she didn’t care. “I didn’t do anything. I just held his hand. Since it’s alright, I’m leaving. There is no need to say thanks.” 

The tall woman was free and easy. She waved her hand, turned around and stepped on her high heels, and left without the slightest hesitation. 

Ash watched as the tall woman left. She somewhat felt her back familiar but couldn’t tell when. She couldn’t remember.

Calvert nodded. “Continue to investigate. Don’t miss any details. Moreover, they are still at Riverstone. Let’s enchance the surveillance for all entries and exits into the city. Give me a result within the week.” Calvert gave an order. 

Shane replied, “Okay, Mr. Snider. By the way, Mr. Meyers is here to discuss the progress of the project with you. Do you want to see him now?” 

“Okay.” He hadn’t seen Finn in about a week. Finn was still dressed flamboyantly, but his condition was obviously not very good. 

Finn felt at ease as he entered the office. He pulled the chair across from his desk and sat down. “Vanessa’s situation has gotten worse. We haven’t talked for three days.” 

“Does this have anything to do with me?” Calvert raised his head, glanced at Finn, and lowered his head. “Where’s the project report?”

Finn continued. The two talked about totally different topics. “Calvert, she hasn’t talked to me for three days. This has never happened before.” 

“Is that so? When your friend passed away, you two broke off contact for almost half a year, longer than three days” 

Finn was speechless. He came here to seek comfort, but he didn’t get any. Instead, Calvert made things worse. 

“Could the situation back then be the same as today? We have been in touch since then. And we never broke off. But it’s useless to ask you. You can’t handle Ash yourself.” Finn actually knew Calvert’s sore point well. 

Seeing Calvert deflated, Finn felt a little better. “What do you think I should do? I’m going to find a suitable time to take her out. I don’t know if I can untie the knot in her heart. 

“I don’t necessarily need her to untie the knot. I’m just afraid that this knot will affect her life. Her mother called me a while ago, saying that she has been in a bad situation recently. Calvert, what do you think I should do?” 

Calvert crossed his hands on the table. “You came here to tell me this? Talking about personal things during work hours?”

Finn nodded solemnly. “Of course. Calvert, ask Ash to invite Vanessa later. The four of us will have dinner together, my 

treat.” 

“If there’s nothing else, go back to work now. Where is your Triple–A Game project now? All the characters can be released this month? Why is the official number of fans rising so slowly? Why isn’t everything going smoothly recently?” Calvert asked several times. 

Finn fell silent. It wasn’t that Finn couldn’t answer, but he didn’t expect Calvert to be so indifferent. There was something wrong with his love life, but his good friend cared about nothing but work. 

“Vanessa probably doesn’t like people who don’t do their jobs properly. I said it early on. Between you and her, one will be blocked by the knot. She doesn’t want to face it, and you don’t want her to face it. Since it’s what you both want, I can’t really help either.”

There was sadness in Finn’s eyes. “Okay, I won’t bother you anymore. The work thing is an excuse. Otherwise, you won’t see me. Thank you today. It’s much better to talk.” It was better for him to have a chat than to think about it himself. 

Finn got up and picked up his shirt and jacket. “What’s the matter between you and Ash? I met her in the company just now. When I mentioned you, her expression changed. I thought she was gonna yell at me. 

“Also, she had a very eligible man by her side. Be careful. Don’t think that an engagement is enough. It’s still possible to divorce after getting married.”
