Calvert was in Dwayne’s car when he received the message. 

He ignored the message from Finn, as Finn always liked to exaggerate things.

“What’s wrong? Are you in a bad mood? Did you have a fight with Ash?” Dwayne asked, wearing his stylish sunglasses and steering the wheel with one hand. “I never thought I’d see the day you’d be troubled by a woman 

“Calvert, how the tables have turned! Women used to be crazy about you, and now it’s your turn to feel this way? Dhayar was always eager to add fuel to the fire. 

Calvert found Dwayne’s incessant chatter no less irritating than Finn’s, if not more.

“You should keep talking.” Calvert said after a pause, “Who knows when you’ll lose your voice for good.” 

Dwayne could sense the chilling intent hidden beneath Calvert’s calm tone. “I’m just kidding. I didn’t know you two really had a fight.” 

Dwayne could swear he was just joking. After all, Calvert had seemed preoccupied since getting in the car, constantly checking his phone, clearly waiting for a message. 

Having known each other for so many years, Dwayne had never seen Calvert so hung up on any woman besides Ash. Even Jade could only be considered an exception compared to other women, not someone truly special. 

A strange feeling of irritation welled up inside Calvert. He wondered if he really cared that much about Ash. Why could everyone around him sense his feelings?

His gaze drifted out the car window. The phone in his arms vibrated again. He looked down and unlocked it, only to find nother message from Finn. It was a picture. 

The picture showed Ash and William sitting side by side, seemingly talking about something. Ash looked relaxed and lazy, as f she was very comfortable. 

Calvert gripped his phone tightly, countless thoughts flashing through his mind. In the end, he just suppressed his motions, locked the screen, and said, “Go to my place in Peace District” 

Huh? Didn’t we agree to go for a drink? Why the sudden change?” Dwayne stepped on the brakes lightly, confused “textare hat you’re free. Come on.”

“There’s no shame in being drunk. It’s fine, we’re buddies. We can be frank. Speak freely, let it all out. Dwayne put his hand on Calvert’s shoulder. 

Calvert didn’t dodge. His lonely face revealed a touch of sadness. “I’m not drunk.” 

“Okay, okay, you’re not drunk. I misspoke. You’re indeed not drunk, okay?” Dwayne clicked his tongue. He could only change his approach. 

Only then did Calvert reply, “Yes, I’m not drunk. Why does Ash always bring up our cooperative relationship! I haven’t forgotten, not even once. I don’t need her to keep mentioning it repeatedly. I’ve always remembered it. There’s no need to keep bringing it up.” 

Calvert chuckled softly. “She’s really decisive, able to distinguish clearly.” 

Dwayne was confused. He leaned closer and lowered his voice. “Cooperative relationship? Did you two reach some special agreement? Do you love her?” 

This was what Dwayne wanted to know the most. Calvert was so special to Ash. He wondered about Calvert’s feelings. 

Suddenly, Calvert fell silent. He groped for his glass and downed the remaining half in one gulp. “Why are you asking? What does it have to do with you?” 

“What does it have to do with me? I’m just asking, making conversation. You can ask about me, too.” Dwayne was determined to seize this opportunity. He had already turned on the voice recorder on his phone.

Dwayne was speechless. Calvert was tight–lipped despite being drunk. 

The biggest characteristic of Calvert when he was drunk was that he became unusually talkative, a far cry from his usual taciturnity. 

Calvert was dizzy, and his cheeks flushed, giving him a different kind of charm. ‘Don’t ask about Ash. She has nothing to do with you.” 

“Don’t worry, a friend’s wife is off–limits. That’s my life philosophy. I have no interest in her at all. Even if I did, we wouldn’t be a match. Ash is something else, not just anyone can handle her.” 

Dwayne had interacted with Ash several times and had always been outmatched. Every encounter ended in defeat, just like with Calvert. These two were a match made in heaven. They should stay together and not mess with others. 

“If you had interest? So, you were interested in her before?” Calvert only wanted to hear what he wanted to hear. His eyes widened instantly, and he grabbed Dwayne by the collar. 

Dwayne was on the verge of tears. “Isn’t this a bit too much of a contrast? Calvert, aren’t you going to die of embarrassment when you wake up tomorrow morning and remember everything? Do you care about her that much?
