Sofia woke up early and found Ash’s door open. The room was empty. Ash, where were you last night? I couldn’t f she called out, sering no one aroundÂ
Ash yawned and casually draped an arm around Sofia’s shoulder. Tm young–it’s normal for me to want a social liÂ
Sofia scolded softly. “It’s okay to have fun, but you’re a married woman now, you have to be more careful about hoÂ
behaveÂ
Ash was stunned, wondering if this was how Sofia saw her. She quickly agreed, saying, “Okay, how about we go for a today? You’ve been stuck at home lately, you must be bored, right?”Â
Sofia was in low spirits after leaving the hospital, though her mood had improved somewhat. She was still so thin th strong breeze might knock her over. “Your father promised to visit today to take a family photo of us. Jewel, how is y mother doing? Have you been to the hospital to see her!”Â
Ash frowned slightly. Dexter had, once again, taken the initiative to visit. Sofia’s life was hanging in the balance, and 1 knew this might be his last chance to leverage the situation with her.Â
“Take me to the hospital,” Sofia insisted. ‘She wouldn’t be there if it wasn’t serious.”Â
Ash hesitated, believing Lorelei was an even worse actor than Dexter despite her years of experience. She added, “Sof you’re not well enough to go now.Â
“It can’t be serious. If it were, Dexter wouldn’t be here; he’d be at the hospital.” Ash reasoned, “Why don’t you avoid the hospital? With so many sick people and germs around, it would be awful if you got infected.”Â
Sofia nodded agreeably instead of arguing. “Okay, I’ll stay home and try to let it go. I know you don’t like talking aboutÂ
“Why are you always arguing with them?” Sofia asked while stroking Ash’s head. “It’s not your fault–their parents messe up.” Sofia comforted her, “Jewel, you’re all grown up now. I bet you wouldn’t have stopped crying if this happened when were younger.”Â
Ash was speechless, wondering if she had ever cried for a long time. Why would Sofia picture her that way? When had st ever been a crybaby?Â
“That’s not fair! You’re making me sound like a little kid! I’m not like that anymore, am I?” Ash said, her voice playful and childish.Â
Sofia smiled, a hint of nostalgia softening her features. “You’ll always be my little one, no matter how much you grow Im the days when you were small enough to carry everywhere. You were such a clingy baby, always needing me to soothe you to sleep.”Â
Throughout her childhood, Ash found happiness solely through Sofia, who taught her the meaning of love. ‘Sofia, Ash thought, “thank you.” Never before had she felt such sincere gratitude towards Sofia.Â
Ash went downstairs to meet Dexter at Sofia’s request, but upon exiting the elevator, she was greeted by an unexpected visitor, Samantha. “Why are you here?” she asked.Â
Samantha’s face was still bandaged, which made it seem like she had chosen to dress this way, along with her flowing skirt and hair accessories.Â
“You two go ahead and chat, Dexter said, glancing at them with a large bouquet of carnations. “Be good to each other, sistersÂ

shouldn’t quarrelÂ
Simultaneously, their faces twisted with disdain, they retorted. “What’s it to you?”Â
Dexter paused and said with a sneer. The two of you are remarkably in sync at times like these.”Â
at loveÂ
Dexter didn’t linger, he headed straight for the elevator with the flowers. Ash, in slippers, looked unconcerned. “Wh Spit it out.”Â
Samantha dropped a bombshell. He drugged you,” she said. ‘Samuel was the one who did it.”Â
Ash wasn’t surprised, having suspected this all along She thought. What was wrong with Samantha today? Why the s conflict between her and Samuel” It wasn’t easy to make Samantha give up on him; Samuel was quite generous, despÂ
flaws.Â
She leaned against the wall and retorted, ‘Oh, now you want to help? Weren’t you one of the masterminds behind thi thing? If you’re truly sorry, you should turn yourself in.”Â
Samantha loathed Ash, especially when her mouth wouldn’t stop. Samantha’s hatred intensified when Ash said. “Do yo any evidence? You’re making false accusations. I could sue you for slander.”Â
Despite the confrontation, Samantha was remarkably composed. Although she would have been anxious and cursed in past, she was much calmer now, having grown and changed significantly.Â
Ash glanced at her indifferently. “Don’t worry, no one suspects you. I’m just asking–if you didn’t do it, you didn’t. It’s fiÂ
“How did you know he did it?” Ash scoffed. “Are you two that close now? He’d tell you something like this? He must trust a lot. Doesn’t it bother you to betray him like this?”Â
Ash’s calmness only fueled Samantha’s frustration. “Just tell me–do you want my help or not?”Â
“No,” Ash replied, her tone even shorter. “I answered your question. Can you go now?”Â
Samantha frowned. “Ash, are you deliberately making this difficult? You have no evidence against him, so why not cooperate? It’d be beneficial for both of us.”Â
“Are you sure this collaboration benefits both of us? You claim it’s a win–win, but I’m not obligated to take your word for i especially since we lack trust.”Â
Ash’s reasonable words left Samantha speechless. Known for her eloquence and sharp wit, Samantha took a deep breath, suppressing her anger. “Fine,” she conceded, “you don’t have to cooperate. But don’t come crying to me later.Â
“I won’t regret it, I promise,” Ash said.Â
While Samantha likely had strong evidence, Ash felt no obligation to see it, refusing to cooperate with someone like her.Â
