Shane subconsciously retorted, “How is that possible? Mr. Snider is so angry because he hates Ms. Turner!” 

“Think about it. Why did he follow us to the police station?” Dean said patiently. “If it weren’t for his concern for Ms. Turner, when would he ever get involved in other people’s business?” 

“That’s because Ms. Turner is his fiancée in name…” Shane said, sounding a bit uncertain. 

Dean was a little helpless and continued to analyze, “You still don’t admit that you’re stupid. When has Mr. Snider ever cared about what others say? If he didn’t care about Ms. Turner, why would he choose to deal with Shadow Ventures?” 

He added, “The chairman of Shadow Ventures just sent Ms. Turner home, and Mr. Snider is so angry that he wants to snatch his project. How can you still say in front of him that Ms. Turner is fickle? Canceling just one- quarter of your bonus is already showing him mercy.” 

After saying that, Dean looked him up and down. “You’re still single, so it’s normal that you don’t understand these things. However, I advise you not to say anything bad about Ms. Turner. Otherwise, you might face more serious consequences.” 

Shane suddenly realized that this was the reason why he was punished. He had noticed that Calvert’s attitude toward that woman was somewhat different, and it turned out to be true. 

Some things couldn’t just be seen on the surface. In order to preserve his year of performance, he followed Calvert into the company and began to investigate Shadow Ventures’s recent project. 

He might not understand matters of the heart, but he would never be careless when it came to work. 

Meanwhile, as soon as Ash returned home, she was greeted by a group of people. 

“Ash, are you alright?” Brooke asked worriedly. 

“It was all a misunderstanding, and it’s been resolved, so there’s no need to worry,” Ash said with a faint smile. 

“I knew it! You’re a good child, how could you possibly make a mistake? Those people must have gotten it wrong,” Dorothy said, her face beaming with kindness, looking as if she had expected this all along. 

No one asked any more questions. They returned to the living room, ready to continue celebrating Brooke’s birthday. 

Ash walked behind, and soon, Caspian, who had been walking ahead, slowed his pace and stopped next to her. 

Jade did not expect Ash to return so quickly. ‘What’s going on? Didn’t that woman say she had irrefutable. evidence to send Ash to jail?‘ 

Jade looked up at her, and her eyes suddenly brightened when she noticed that Calvert was not behind her. 

She was certain that Calvert had seen through that little witch’s true nature. Out of concern for the Turner family’s reputation, he must have helped her resolve the issue, then left in anger.

Jade smiled a little and said, “Congratulations on getting home safely, Ash. But why didn’t Calvert come back with you?” 

“It’s not your place to ask about my fiance,” Ash replied coldly, her smile vanishing. 

Jade’s expression stiffened as she caught her mother’s scrutinizing gaze. Lowering her head, she said in a pitiful tone, “Ash, I didn’t mean…” 

Ash sneered. “Don’t think I don’t know what you’ve done.” 

With Samantha’s abilities and background, it was impossible for her to obtain the surveillance footage from that high–end cake shop. If it weren’t for someone helping her behind the scenes, the police wouldn’t have come knocking with evidence to summon her. 

Jade’s face turned pale, yet her tone was pitiful as she said, “Ash, did you misunderstand me? I didn’t do anything at all.” 

Ash let out a cold snort, brushing off Jade’s feigned innocence. She quickly caught up with her mother and Dorothy.
