“Hey, Ms. Johnson, you know about those two herbs?” York’s eyes were sharp.
Considering Daniel’s safety, the patient’s medication details were private. The fact that the doctor had shared this information with Emily seemed excessive to York. This made him view both the doctor and Emily in a negative light.
Daniel, who knew Emily’s true identity, understood why she was unaware. Although he knew York was acting in his best interest, he still reprimanded him coldly, “York, don’t be rude!”
Emily almost forgot to switch identities. She thought for a moment and explained, “Patient privacy is paramount, but coincidentally, I’ve encountered Mr. Smith’s poison before, so I naturally know which two herbs are needed.”
Seeing York’s skeptical expression, Emily rarely showed patience and explained further, “I had no ill intentions towards Mr. Smith. Even if I do, you all know my true identity. If I tried anything funny, you could easily deal with me. So, there’s no need to worry. I’m just here to do my job.
York thought for a moment, his expression softening considerably.
Daniel spoke in a deep voice, “York, apologize!”
His deep, magnetic voice was soothing to the ears. “Ms. Johnson, I apologize. It’s my lack of discipline. I don’t mean to question you.”
Faced with his focused and solemn gaze, Emily couldn’t truly be angry.
“I’m sorry, Ms. Johnson,” York said respectfully, without a hint of resentment.
Emily waved her hand dismissively, not caring much. Instead, she said, “Take off your shirt, I’ll perform acupuncture.”
“Alright!”
Daniel began to undress cooperatively, his expression calm. However, if one looked closely, they could see his ears turning red. He was practically a bashful man.
His movements were slow and deliberate. His long fingers unbuttoned his shirt, occasionally brushing against his abs, creating a tantalizing sight. Emily couldn’t help but swallow hard, her gaze drifting away.
Daniel did it on purpose. He noticed Emily’s reaction and suppressed the urge to smile. It seemed seduction had some effect.
In this intimate atmosphere, there was an annoying presence. York, still concerned, asked, “Ms. Johnson, if you have any leads on those two herbs, could you share them to increase our chances of obtaining them?”
Emily’s thoughts were interrupted by York’s question. She considered the rarity of the herbs and the potential competition for them. She didn’t want York and the others to get directly involved. After all, who would get the promised fifty million dollars?
She wanted Daniel’s identity to help, but didn’t want them directly involved. The best solution was…
“Mr. Smith, do you have anything that represents your identity?”

Of course, York, go fetch the jade seal from my study, Daniel ordered in a deep voice.
It was a perfect opportunity to send York away. Emily’s eyes lit up at the mention of the jade seal, a true symbol of his identity. However, Daniel’s trust in her made her feel a bit strange.
Mr. Smith, this… York began to express his concern.
Daniel’s authoritative gaze silenced him. “Yes, sit!‘ York replied, leaving the room.
Now, it was just Emily and Daniel left in the room. Daniel’s shirt was off, revealing his chiseled abs. Emily raised an eyebrow, impressed but feeling a bit envious every time she saw them.
She composed herself and took out the silver needles. As she inserted a needle, Daniel’s body tensed from her accidental touch. His eyes grew darker.
“Relax a bit,” Emily said softly.
Daniel’s voice was husky, “I can’t relax around you.”
His words made the atmosphere even more intimate. Emily’s heart raced, her face stiffening.
“You’re a doctor, and as a patient, it’s natural to be nervous,” Daniel patiently explained.
Emily’s restless heart finally calmed down. Daniel was a man of high status. How could he be interested in her or flirt with her? She must have been overthinking.
“No need to be nervous. Besides the initial condition, your body is fine. And the doctor said you could be cured!” Emily boasted about herself.
Daniel knew she was the doctor, but didn’t expose her. Instead, he smiled and nodded, “Yes, the doctor said I could be cured. I’m reassured!”
The acupuncture session didn’t take long. Emily left with the jade seal, feeling satisfied.
Back home, she contacted Terry.
Emily: [Did you find what I asked for?]
Terry: [Emily, talk about being in sync! I was just about to send it to you. By the way, when are we meeting?]
Terry wanted to hand it over to Emily in person.
Emily thought about her schedule.
Emily: [This week. I’ll message you with the exact time.]

Terry almost jumped for joy at the message. Emily felt a bit nauseated by his enthusiasm.

At home, her aunt had already prepared dinner. During the meal, Emily realized she had been too busy to talk to her aunt properly. She noticed Violette seemed to have something on her mind.
“Violette, take a break. Let’s talk. Is there something you want to tell me?” Emily patted the seat next to her, inviting Violette to sit.
Violette quickly sat down. “Emily, there is something. Tomorrow, Atticus has an exam, and I want to take him to the test center myself.”
This was good news! Emily felt a bit guilty for almost forgetting such an Important event.
“Violette, I’m sorry I almost forgot. Where is Atticus’s exam? I’ll drive him there tomorrow!”
“No, no need… I just wanted to let you know how much we appreciate your help,” Violette said sincerely.
Emily held Violette’s hand, “Violette, don’t feel burdened. I truly consider you family, and I want to do this.”
Thankfully, Violette told her, or she would have felt terrible for missing it. Violette finally agreed to let Emily drive them to the exam.
Because of this, Emily didn’t stay up late the night before. She woke up early and drove Violette and Atticus to the test center.
She lived in the south, and the test center was in the north, so it took some time. After dropping them off, Emily decided to take Violette to a nearby mall.
Unexpectedly, she ran into Bianca and James. James immediately wanted to approach Emily, but Bianca stopped him.
“James, if you go now, it’ll just be another argument. Emily moved out, and we don’t know her situation. Let’s follow her and see where she lives and who she’s in contact with.”
Bianca had another reason. Violette, who should have returned home, was still here. It seemed her million–dollar debt was resolved. Who helped her? Could it really be Emily?
