Chapter 13
In her past life, she had given all her research to the Johnson Group.
In this life, she wanted to start her own business and have more control.
However, after buying that old house, she had invested all her remaining money into new medicine production and didn’t have much left to buy a new house.
She was planning to make do with the old house for now, then sell some software she programmed later to consider buying a new house.
Unexpectedly, business came knocking on her door.
Emily’s phone rang for the first time, and seeing it was an unknown number, she hung up directly.
Later, as she was getting out of the car to head home, she received a call from Aaron Hill, a friend she met while picking up trash, who was now the head of her new medicine project.
“What’s up?”
Emily was worried there might be an issue with the new medicine production and asked urgently.
“Emily, there’s a business deal. Are you interested? The price is really high, so I wanted to ask you.”
Aaron hadn’t planned to take the deal for Emily.
He knew she was busy researching new medicine lately.
But the price was so high that he couldn’t help but be tempted on her behalf.
Emily’s eyes lit up, her voice becoming cheerful, “What kind of deal? Tell me more.”
“A patient has a strange illness that flares up once a month. This time, it flared up after just half a month. Somehow, they found out a bit about our new medicine’s formula, and it seems to help their condition. They guessed I know a doctor like you. The offer is one million dollars, which is really high!”
Of course, Aaron hadn’t agreed immediately.
The higher the price, the wealthier the client.
And the more difficult the illness.
“Don’t worry, I also said, first, you can remain anonymous; second, there’s no guarantee of a cure, but half the payment is still required; third, the decision to treat is yours.”
Aaron had considered everything for Emily.
“You really get me. Okay, let’s check out the patient’s condition first. Set up a time.”

Chapter 13
Emily was very satisfied with Aaron’s approach, showing he genuinely cared for her.
Aaron agreed immediately.
The other party was eager and scheduled the earliest possible time for treatment.
When Emily saw the patient, she was momentarily stunned.
She had imagined meeting him again, perhaps in a scenario where she needed his help.
But she hadn’t expected it to be like this.
And so soon.
What surprised her was that Daniel, who had looked pale from blood loss last time, now looked even worse, his face devoid of vitality.
His sharply defined face had become gaunt in just a few days.
The woody scent on him was stronger, but it wasn’t as pure as before, now mixed with a cheap perfume smell.
Because of this, Emily’s expression changed slightly, her eyes becoming sharp.
“Doctor, can you treat him?”
The man next to Daniel, Charles Green, had a roguish face that was now full of seriousness.
Although he couldn’t see Emily’s face, her change in demeanor and sharp gaze made him nervous, and he spoke up quickly.
Emily shook her head.
‘Aren’t you a doctor? How can you say you can’t treat him? What kind of doctor are you?”
Seeing Emily shake her head, Charles thought there was no hope and angrily reached out to grab Emily’s clothes to question her.
He even suspected she was a scammer.
Covering her face and hiding her identity, he was desperate and grasping at straws.
The next moment, Emily had a silver needle in her hand and jabbed it into his hand.
He cried out in pain, his hand dropping limply, completely powerless.
Emily spoke coldly, “If you try to touch me again, it won’t be just your hand. I haven’t finished speaking. Why are you in such a hurry?”
As she spoke, she diagnosed Daniel and confirmed her suspicion, “He’s not sick, he’s poisoned!”
