“No…” 

I’m done eating! So it’s settled, I’ll swing by at 6:30 tomorrow morning.” 

Daniel, used to calling the shots, didn’t give Emily a chance to refuse. He made the decision for her and left. 

Emily opened her mouth to speak, but ultimately said nothing. 

After all, it was just one day, and it wouldn’t really mess up her plans. She decided to go along with it. 

He was a big deal, and there was no point in arguing over something like this, which might even tick Daniel off. 

Little did she know that as soon as Daniel got home, he called York. 

‘Look into who Emily’s been hanging out with lately and what her schedule is. Keep it on the down–low.” 

Daniel’s voice was low and serious. 

“Got it!” 

York took the order and left the study. 

He ran into Charles on his way out, who overheard the last part of the conversation. 

“Daniel, what’s so hush–hush that you can’t let more people know? Are you hiding something big from me?” 

Charles looked pitiful and aggrieved. 

Daniel averted his gaze, “Don’t look at me like that, or I’ll think you’re not cut out to be here. There’s a place that’s perfect for you!” 

“Where?” 

Charles didn’t catch on immediately until Daniel said, “A nightclub!” 

The first thing that came to mind was male models. 

Charles finally got it and felt even more wronged, “Wow, Daniel, I care so much about you, and you mock me like this.” 

Daniel glanced at him indifferently, “What do you want? If it’s nothing, you can leave.” 

Charles wanted to keep up the act, but under Daniel’s gaze, he shrugged helplessly and muttered, “How heartless!” 

But he smiled openly, “Of course, it’s about your health. That doctor who’s been hiding the identity? Guess what, I heard the doctor will be in Regal City tomorrow. I’m going to check it out, so I’m letting you know.” 

Daniel’s previously indifferent eyes suddenly sharpened.

His hand on the armrest tightened, and he suddenly asked, ‘Booked your ticket? 

‘Not yet. I’ll do it when I get back.” 

He was planning to leave Daniel for a bit, for the sake of his health, so he was also reminding Daniel to beef up security during his 

absence. 

Book an extra one. I’m going too! 

Daniel’s tone was firm and unquestionable. 

Charles had thought Daniel would stop him. 

After all, when he had people follow that doctor before, Daniel had scolded him. 

Turns out, he did care, just didn’t want to admit it. 

“You should’ve said so earlier. I thought you’d stop me. Fine, I’ll call and get our tickets booked, and bring York along for your safety.” 

“Good!” 

This time, Daniel didn’t refuse. 

After finishing his business, Charles left. 

But for some reason, he felt like he was missing something, which made him feel uneasy. 

Daniel didn’t care what Charles was thinking. He called York and told him to stop the investigation. 

Because he had already figured out from Charles‘ words where Emily was going. 

Of course, Daniel thought Emily was going to Regal City to treat someone. He had York arrange a hotel and set up meetings with clients. 

When he and Emily met, it would just be a “coincidence.” He was going to Regal City for business, after all. 

The next morning, he didn’t forget to go to Emily’s house for a check–up. 

It was so early that he ran into Violette, who was there to make breakfast for Emily. 

Mr. Smith, what brings you here so early?” 

Violette was startled when she saw him through the door monitor. She quickly opened the door and asked. 

Daniel was very polite and respectful to Violette, like a younger person showing respect to an elder. 

“Violette, Emily and I are friends. Just call me Daniel.” 

Daniel smiled warmly and politely.

Violette had thought she was mistaken about Daniel liking Emily, but now she was more convinced. Daniel must like Emily. 

Otherwise, why would someone like him treat her with such respect? 

“Well, Mr. Smith, that might not be appropriate. Are you here to see Emily? She might not be…” 

“Violette, who’s at the door? Is it Mt. Smith? If it is, let him in. I promised to check his pulse this morning!”

Emily had heard the doorbell and was puzzled why Violette hadn’t brought the guest in yet. She came out and overheard Violette, quickly speaking up. 

Violette, realizing it was for a medical check–up, didn’t delay and invited Daniel in. 

Daniel had wanted to correct Violette’s form of address, but Emily’s interruption made him miss the chance. 

Of course, he understood Violette’s caution. After all, he was trying to win over her “child.” There was plenty of time for that! 

Daniel didn’t mind Violette’s attitude and entered the house at her invitation. 

Emily had just gotten up and hadn’t put on any makeup. Her skin was clear and radiant, like porcelain. 

With her healthier, fuller figure, she looked both beautiful and vibrant. 

Emily didn’t hold back. After inviting Daniel to sit, she placed her fingers on his wrist to check his pulse. 

Daniel sat quietly. 

He watched Emily’s focused expression with gentle eyes. 

They say men look handsome when they’re serious about their work, but women look even more beautiful when they’re focused. 

It was like she was glowing. 

Daniel found himself momentarily entranced. 

Emily was initially focused on checking his pulse and didn’t notice his intense gaze, 

When she finished and looked up to discuss his condition, she met his deep, mesmerizing eyes, as if they could pull her in. 

Emily cleared her throat, looked away, and said, “I’ll write you a new prescription. Use it until the next time the doctor gives you acupuncture. But don’t worry, the condition is under control for now. Just don’t overwork yourself. Even if you need to handle internal matters, it can wait until the poison is completely cleared.” 

“Got it.” 

Daniel replied obediently. 

Just as Emily was about to breathe a sigh of relief and see him out, Daniel suddenly asked, “Ms. Johnson, how do you know the source of my illness? Sometimes I get the feeling you’re that doctor friend of yours.”

“Cough, cough… How could that be!” 

Emily almost choked on her own saliva. She quickly glanced at him, then looked away, nervously denying it.

A glint flashed in Daniel’s eyes, but he nodded, “I agree. After all, that doctor wouldn’t be greedy enough to introduce you to diagnose me 

and take two fees.” 

Emily’s face almost turned red. 

For a moment, she wondered if he knew her true identity. 

But then she thought it was impossible. If he really knew, he would have confronted her directly, given his status. 

Little did she know that Daniel saw it as a playful game between them. 

And he was willing to play along because she enjoyed it. 

Emily felt very anxious inside but remained calm on the surface, “That’s right. My doctor friend is too proud to do such a thing. It’s getting late, and I need to get ready to go out. Mr. Smith, please leave now.”
