Chapter 142
“Hey, you feeling better now?”
Emily waited a moment, making sure Daniel’s breathing had calmed before she spoke.
Daniel’s eyes were intense, almost mesmerizing.
If she hadn’t said anything, he might have preferred her to stay on his lap until the plane landed.
But he knew that was out of the question.
“Yeah, I’m good.”
Daniel let go of her waist.
Emily quickly got up from his embrace and took the seat next to him.
The awkwardness from before still lingered, and even though Emily tried to act like nothing happened, she felt a bit embarrassed and stayed quiet.
Daniel noticed her discomfort and decided to keep quiet, too.
But with her sitting so close, he could still catch the faint scent of her perfume. He closed his eyes slightly, her fragrance lingering in his
nostrils.
Emily closed her eyes, pretending to sleep, but her mind was racing.
She felt like Daniel was staring at her.
She thought she’d stay tense until they reached Regal City, but surprisingly, she fell asleep while pretending.
She probably didn’t realize that she had unconsciously come to trust Daniel completely, which is why she could sleep so soundly without any guard.
As she slept, time ticked away.
Meanwhile, at a hotel in Regal City…
Chase was by Aurora’s side, who was lying weakly on the bed, looking pitiful.
“Aurora, don’t worry. Bianca promised to bring a top-notch doctor here. You’ll be fine soon.”
Chase checked his watch. “She said they’d be here by ten. It’s almost time. I’ll call to check.”
“Okay, I understand.”
Aurora smiled at Chase, trying to comfort him instead.
attitude towards him. Plies his genuina concern forine,
cause of Emily.
wanted Aurora to make an informed choice, so Chase wouldn’t have to deal with Wren due to her Indecisiveness.
Aurora also thought of Emily, who had asked about the skilled doctor.
She wondered if Emily would show up.
Chase stepped out to call Bianca.
Bianca saw the incoming call and frowned slightly, but her voice was warm and gentle, “Hey, Chase. What’s up?”
“Not much. You said you’d bring the skilled doctor by ten. It’s almost time, so I wanted to check where you are.”
James heard the conversation and looked at Bianca, his eyes questioning: What did Chase say?
Bianca suppressed her irritation and replied, “We’re almost there, Chase. Don’t worry. Don’t you trust me?”
“Of course, I trust you. I’m just worried about any unexpected issues. Alright, Aurora and I will wait for you. She’s looking worse.”
Chase lowered his voice and added a special reminder.
“Got it, Chase.”
Bianca understood Chase’s concern, wanting to ensure the doctor she brought was reliable.
After hanging up, Bianca explained to James, “Chase is just worried, so he called to check where we are.”
“Alright.”
James responded indifferently. He felt somewhat unethical for helping Bianca find someone to impersonate the doctor.
So he wasn’t very enthusiastic.
Bianca didn’t notice James’s mood and instructed the doctor, “Your medical skills are good, so you’re the skilled doctor. If you cure Chase’s friend, I’ll make you famous. You’ll become a legendary doctor. What do you think?”
Dr. Dwayne Larson smiled, “Don’t worry. I understand. I’ll do my best.”
Bianca nodded, satisfied.
Soon, the car arrived at the hotel entrance. Bianca followed Chase’s instructions and went directly to their room.
“Bianca, you’re here. Is this the doctor you mentioned?”
Chase’s gaze fell on the unfamiliar Dwayne.
Dwayne’s white hair and beard made him look capable, easing Chase’s doubts.
Bianca introduced him to Chase, “This is Dr. Larson. Let him take a look at your friend.
“Alright.”
Chase, concerned about Aurora, even ignored James.
James remained indifferent, feeling somewhat displeased.
While ‘Dwayne” was checking Aurora’s pulse, Emily and Daniel had landed. Emily said she needed to pick up a few people and then parted ways with Daniel.
She then picked up several important individuals and arrived at the hotel entrance.
There was a knock at the door.
Bianca and James exchanged a glance, their hearts racing, feeling a sense of foreboding.
Chase frowned, “Who is it? Bianca, did you call someone?”
Bianca shook her head, “I thought you invited someone, Chase.”
Chase worried it might be fans or reporters and told his assistant, “Go check. If it’s fans or reporters, call hotel security to get rid of
them.”
His tone was clearly displeased.
He was staying at a high-end hotel in a suite. If the hotel couldn’t ensure privacy, he wouldn’t hesitate to complain.
The assistant followed orders, opened the door slightly, and asked, “Who are you looking for?”
But as soon as the door was slightly open, Aaron, standing next to Emily, kicked the door open.
The assistant was caught off guard by Aaron’s swift move, stumbled from the impact, and stepped aside.
Regaining his balance, the assistant quickly questioned, “Hey, who are you? Who let you in? Are you one of Chase’s crazy fans? Do you believe I’ll call security to kick you out, along with the others…”
The assistant trailed off, unable to continue.
Because the people behind Emily had a strong presence and appeared older, they didn’t look like fans.
Emily’s sharp gaze shot towards the assistant, “This has nothing to do with you. You’re just an employee, so don’t get involved. Stay aside and keep quiet.”
Without giving the assistant time to react, Emily nodded to the important individuals, who she had already briefed to wait outside until needed.
So, Emily and Aaron stepped inside first, heading straight to the inner room.
Chase, Bianca, and the others heard the approaching footsteps, clearly more than one person, and looked up.
Seeing Emily, Chase’s face darkened, his eyes cold, “What are you doing here? I’ve already found a doctor. What? Did you find out somehow and are jealous of Blanca’s capability?”
Bianca’s eyes flickered with guilt at seeing Emily.
But she remembered there was no turning back now, and as long as she didn’t admit it, Emily had no proof.
Bianca’s gaze hardened, meeting Emily’s eyes, “Emily, I don’t know how you found out I invited the doctor. Whether you’re jealous of me or can’t stand Chase’s happiness, you’re not welcome here. Please leave.”
Bianca’s words were increasingly direct.
Emily didn’t immediately respond to Bianca and Chase’s nonsense, her gaze falling on the doctor they had invited.
“So, you claim to be the skilled doctor?” Emily asked calmly.
