Chapter 145 

“What? You jerk, how dare you pretend to be a real doctor!” 

Chase heard Dwayne’s muttering, and his face turned dark with anger. 

Unable to hold back, he punched Dwayne square in the face. 

Dwayne, holding a silver needle, fell to the ground from Chase’s punch. The needle accidentally stabbed into his own body, causing him to cry out in pain. 

His mind finally cleared. 

Looking at Aurora, whose face was growing paler on the bed, he feared she might die right now and here 

If he ended up killing someone, he could be facing jail time. 

No way, he didn’t want to go to jail. 

“Ms. Johnson, Mr. Smith, you gotta help me. I did everything you told me to, but she doesn’t have the illness described in that manual. I can’t go to jail. What should I do?” 

Dwayne, no longer resembling a doctor in the slightest, crawled pathetically to Bianca and James, clutching their pant legs and pleading desperately. 

“You finally admit it, you’re a fraud.” 

Aaron spoke up at the right moment. 

Chase, initially stunned by Dwayne’s words, was brought back to his senses by Aaron’s remark. 

His eyes turned red as he looked at Bianca. 

“Bianca, you lied to me! This man isn’t the skilled doctor you claimed he was. You brought in a fake for your own selfish reasons, didn’t you? How could you do this, Bianca? I thought you were kind-hearted. Aurora is a living person. What have you done?” 

Chase grabbed Bianca’s shoulders, shaking her in his agitation. 

The frail Bianca felt dizzy from the shaking. 

“Chase, I’m not feeling well. Let go of me, I can explain.” Bianca spoke weakly, trying to endure her discomfort. 

James, remembering that Bianca was pregnant with his child, quickly grabbed Chase’s hand. “Chase, calm down. Bianca is pregnant and already weak…” 

His voice was deliberately louder, carrying an air of authority. 

Chase finally calmed down, his face tense. “Tell me, what’s going on? And you, aren’t you supposed to know medicine? Check on Aurora, what’s wrong with her? Can she be treated? At least stabilize her condition!” 

 

Bianca, now free, took several deep breaths to regain her composure. 

James had instinctively protected her first, which meant he still cared for her. 

Bianca looked at james with tearful eyes, seeing his tense face and pursed lips, knowing he was also in a difficult position. 

“Chase, don’t worry, Aurora should be fine. James and I were also deceived by Dwayne. He kept claiming he was highly skilled and could treat Aurora, so I believed he was the real doctor.” 

Bianca explained while walking to the bed to check Aurora’s pulse. 

She thought, at worst, Aurora’s condition would remain the same, and she could find a way to clear herself of any blame. 

But as she checked the pulse, she almost let her true emotions show on her face. 

Impossible! 

Aurora’s life force was rapidly fading. If they didn’t find a doctor who could treat her today, Aurora might not survive. 

No way, she couldn’t let the responsibility fall on her and James. 

She tried her best to hide her feelings. 

Emily and the other medical experts could see the situation clearly. 

Bianca, trying to dodge the blame, lied, “Chase, don’t worry, Aurora’s condition is pretty much the same as before the treatment.” 

“Then why is she coughing up blood?” Chase demanded. 

Bianca’s eyes flickered, her mind racing. “It must be old blood. Look, it’s black, isn’t it? Actually, she’s a bit better than before.” 

Emily almost laughed at Bianca’s blatant lie. 

“Bianca, if this is your level of medical skill, you shouldn’t be a doctor for the rest of your life.” 

Bianca looked at Emily with tearful eyes. “Emily, how can you be so cold-hearted at a time like this? Aurora is in this condition, and I’m trying to keep Chase from worrying. If you’re so capable, why don’t you treat her?” 

James could tell from Bianca’s words that she wasn’t being truthful to Chase. 

If something happened to Aurora, he, who brought Dwayne, wouldn’t be able to escape responsibility. 

James frowned and looked at Emily. “Emily, I know you’re kind-hearted. Please treat Aurora. She’s important to Chase.” 

Emily frowned. “Weren’t you the one who called me heartless just now? And now you’re saying I’m kind-hearted. I cut ties with Chase 

long ago. And who was it that guaranteed Dwayne was the skilled doctor? Bianca said her teacher wouldn’t be wrong. Now you’re saying you were deceived. When you lie, at least use your brain and don’t treat everyone like fools.” 

Bianca’s face turned ugly, wanting to say something. 

 

Emily didn’t give her a chance and continued, “I know what you’re up to. You think that if Aurora dies, you can push the responsibility onto me. If I treat her and she gets better, you’ll take the credit. If she gets worse or dies, you’ll blame me, Isn’t that right? 

“Emily, how could you think that!” Blanca hated how smart Emily had become, but she had to lower her head. “Emily, we didn’t think that way. As fellow doctors, we just want to treat Aurora quickly. You said doctors have compassion. You’ll treat her, right? 

Chase no longer cared about Dwayne being a fraud. 

From the conversation, it seemed Emily had a better chance of treating Aurora. 

So he spoke urgently, “Emily, this is a life at stake. She might be my future wife. Treat her, and if you can save Aurora, you’ll still be part of the Johnson family, my sister. I won’t hold any grudges and will treat you better!” 

Bianca chimed in, “Emily, hurry and agree to Chase. You’ll still be part of the Johnson family, and the family will protect you.” 

“I’ve seen shameless people, but never as shameless as you two. You’re begging Emily to treat someone, but acting like you’re doing her a 

favor.” 

Aaron couldn’t stand it anymore and pointed at them, scolding. 

Bianca’s face turned ugly from the scolding, her eyes reddening as she looked at Emily. 

Chase frowned. “Who are you? I’m talking to my sister. It’s none of your business!” 

James disliked Aaron, feeling that his support for Emily made him look incompetent. 

But he knew what needed to be resolved now. 

“Emily, tell us what you want to treat Aurora. If you want to reconcile with me, 

“If that’s your offer, forget it!” 

Emily interrupted him, clearly disgusted.
