Chapter 171Â
“What’s going on here?”Â
Aiden might’ve been in the dark at first, but he wasn’t dumb. He could tell something was off. He scanned the room with a serious lookÂ
and asked.Â

Ronnie was still trying to figure out how to bluff his way out, but someone else couldn’t wait to spill the beans.Â
“Ms. Johnson, I think Terry’s pretty good at what he does, but Ronnie disagreed and just kicked him out.”Â
One of the programmers, fed up with Ronnie’s arrogance, spoke up. Despite Ronnie’s mediocre skills, he always acted like he was top dog.Â
“What are you talking about? Are you in cahoots with Terry? I thought he was tough, but it turns out he already bought you off!”Â
Ronnie’s face turned beet red as he angrily pointed at the programmer and yelled.Â
But Aiden stayed quiet, making Ronnie even more nervous. He quickly turned to Aiden, “Ms. Johnson, it’s a misunderstanding. When Terry came in, he didn’t do any real work and kept messing with the project. I said a few things to him, and he stormed out.”Â
Ronnie shot a warning glare at the others when Aiden wasn’t looking, signaling them to keep quiet.Â
Everyone knew Ronnie was there because of Bianca. They were well aware of how much Aiden adored his sister Bianca. Rumors were flying that Ronnie might become Bianca’s husband, and one bold person started to speak up, but was quickly pulled back by someone nearby.Â
Aiden asked directly, “Is it like Ronnie says?”Â
Everyone looked down in silence, seemingly agreeing with Ronnie’s version of events. Aiden had a lot on his plate, especially with the Johnson Group, where Eli had asked him to focus. He didn’t have the energy to dig deeper, so he let it slide.Â
Before leaving, he gave a token encouragement, “Keep up the good work, everyone. When we succeed, I’ll throw a celebration party. Ronnie, I’ll need you to put in extra effort here.”Â
Seeing that Aiden didn’t push further, Ronnie assumed he believed him and immediately replied with a smile, “Ms. Johnson, don’t worry. I’ll do my best.”Â
Meanwhile, Terry had already arrived at Emily’s house. He took a bite of an apple, casually tossed it up, and caught it again, saying confidently, “I’ve seen their progress. If they don’t follow my approach, they’ll hit a wall and probably waste all their funds.”Â
Emily, though not a fan of Ronnie’s character, thought someone praised by professional teachers couldn’t be that bad. She voiced her thoughts.Â
Terry, intrigued by the question, said, “I thought Ronnie had some smarts at first, but I was wrong. He’s got some talent, but is way too self–centered and arrogant. Those people are his seniors, yet he treats them with utter disrespect! Plus, he probably sees himself as Bianca’s future husband, making everyone too scared to speak up. I couldn’t stand the vibe there.”Â
Emily knew Ronnie’s type well – selfish and arrogant.Â
“If Ronnie really hits a dead end, they might go with your suggestion, but you probably won’t get any credit for it.”Â
Chapter 171Â
Terry shrugged, “Let them use it. I came up with the idea, so I’m not worried. It’s not like it was his brainchild. Even if they overcome this hurdle with my help, they’ll likely encounter another obstacle later. Ms. Johnson, as for that Aiden, I’ve been gone for a while, and he hasn’t even noticed or called to check on me!”Â
Emily thought for a moment. “Maybe he’s just really busy.”Â
Aiden was being groomed as the heir to the Johnson Group. With the company’s stock prices dropping due to issues involving Aiden, Eli could manage but not innovate, especially with technology. Naturally, he had to call Aiden back.Â
“Well, it’s all about timing and fate,” Terry commented.Â
Emily was taken aback.Â
In her past life, it was fate, and in this life, it’s the same. Without her help, Aiden was overwhelmed and had to handle things personally, neglecting the Al project. It was fate again.Â
“Emily!”Â
At that moment, Violette entered with York, who was holding a dress.Â
“Ms. Johnson, Mr. Smith has prepared this dress for you to wear at the Smith family event.”Â
It was a simple yet elegant cream–colored knee–length dress.Â
Emily was about to refuse when York conveyed, “Mr. Smith said that since Ms. Johnson is helping, he should take care of these things. Please don’t decline. If Ms. Johnson needs a professional makeup artist, just let us know, and we’ll arrange it.”Â
York didn’t bring a makeup artist directly, considering Emily might not want to go through the hassle. Daniel hadn’t mentioned this, but York was worried Emily might misunderstand, so he explained.Â
Emily felt touched. How considerate and respectful Daniel was. Even though she intended to lock her heart away because of James, she couldn’t help but feel moved.Â
“Please thank Mr. Smith for me. If the Smith family doesn’t have specific requirements, I won’t need a makeup artist. I’ll get ready quickly.”Â
Emily accepted the gesture.Â
York replied, “Mr. Smith also said Ms. Johnson doesn’t need to rush. He’s willing to wait as long as necessary.”Â
York was about to leave, but noticed the unfamiliar man next to Emily, Although he believed Daniel was superior in every aspect, this man looked young and seemed to be Emily’s age, which could mean they had more in common.Â
York decided to gather some information for Daniel.Â
“Ms. Johnson, who is this?”Â
Emily followed York’s gaze to Terry. Terry, still eating his apple, wondered who Daniel was. He didn’t immediately connect Daniel to the legendary figure, thinking Emily couldn’t possibly be involved with someone like that.Â

Chapter 171Â
Before Emily could speak, Terry waved at York, ‘I’m Ms. Johnson’s assistant, Terry. Is Mr. Smith interested in Ms. Johnson?*Â
“Terry!”Â
Emily didn’t want Terry to say anything inappropriate. Even if it was true, only she and Daniel knew about it. If rumors spread and they weren’t officially together, it could tarnish Daniel’s reputation. As for her, her reputation was already ruined, so she didn’t mind.Â
York was surprised by Terry’s perceptiveness but felt relieved that Terry was just an assistant, not a romantic interest. After greeting Emily, York left.Â
Daniel, seeing York return after a while, asked calmly, ‘Did she have any requests?”Â
