“What do you mean? Veda frowned, feeling like Emily was just messing with them. 

Zoey’s face darkened. “Emily, think it over. Saying no won’t do you any good.” 

“Oh, really? And what if I do say no? I’m not dumb. Being with Daniel means I can get more, right?” Emily smirked at the two furious women in front of her, clearly enjoying herself. 

“That is, if you live long enough to get it. I’ve told you, Daniel’s only interested in you for now!” Veda snapped angrily. 

Emily’s expression turned thoughtful. “You’re right. Thanks for the heads–up. Looks like I should secure my spot by having his kid. Even if the Smith family doesn’t let Daniel marry me, they’ll have to take care of the baby. I’ll definitely get more that way. More than fifty million bucks, at least!” 

“Wow, your true colors show fast. You’re shameless, but luckily, I’ve got a plan for this! I have recorded everything about your nasty thoughts! Veda waved her phone triumphantly. “You think you’re the only one who can record? Thanks to your antics at the Smith Villa yesterday, I decided to record you, and now I’ve got evidence.” 

Emily indeed hadn’t expected Veda to be this clever. 

If she were really Daniel’s girlfriend and not just pretending, she might have been scared. 

But she wasn’t. 

These threats wouldn’t affect her. 

Emily chuckled. “Go ahead, show it to Daniel.” 

“You’re not scared?” 

“Men are easy to fool with a bit of sweet talk! Of course, you wouldn’t know since you don’t have a boyfriend. There are certain things between couples…” Emily laughed coyly. 

Veda’s face turned red with anger and embarrassment. “You’re shameless!” 

Zoey had been silent the whole time, watching Veda and Emily’s confrontation. She realized Emily was smarter than they thought and hadn’t fallen for their trap. 

She spoke up. “You might not care about this, but what about others? I heard you’re living with your aunt’s family and a boy named Liam. Even if you don’t care about yourself, you should care about them, right?” 

Emily met Zoey’s gaze, her eyes cold and full of warning. 

Emily’s expression turned icy. “Are you threatening me?” 

“As long as you cooperate, you’ll get the money and stay safe. It’s not a threat.” Zoey said calmly, as if discussing the weather. 

Emily seemed genuinely threatened and replied. “Fifty million dollars, I’ll gladly accept it.”

“Since you’ve taken the money, make sure you follow through!” Zoey smiled and relaxed, offering a “kind reminder. 

Emily waved her hand and left. 

As soon as she stepped out of the club, her smile disappeared. 

Fifty million dollars, she would take it. 

But manipulating her? No way. 

She had initially thought that as long as they didn’t provoke her, she wouldn’t bother with them. 

But now that they had, she wouldn’t hold back. 

Emily went home and started investigating Veda and Zoey. 

People with their personalities, capable of threats and clearly experienced in it, were bound to have a history. 

Sure enough, Emily worked on her computer, using her hacking skills to uncover a lot of dirt. 

She saved the evidence, waiting for the right time to release it. 

After saving the evidence, Emily looked at the check again before heading downstairs. 

“Emily, are you heading out again?” Violette was worried about Emily. She had just turned 18, yet she seemed to have endless tasks. 

“Emily, play with me!” 

Liam had been living with them for a while now, free from bullying, surrounded by Violette’s love and the care of Emily and Atticus. He had become more confident and outgoing. Seeing Emily about to leave, he immediately hugged her leg. 

Emily affectionately patted Liam’s head, “Hey, buddy, be good. I’m just going next door for a bit. I’ll be back soon to play with you, okay?” 

Liam obediently rubbed his head against Emily’s palm and let go of her leg. “Okay, Emily, I’ll wait for you!” 

“Alright!” Emily smiled. 

Violette heard Emily was going to see Daniel again. She hesitated to ask, worried that Emily might be embarrassed about certain things. Emily didn’t notice her aunt’s hesitation. She had already left the villa. 

As soon as she rang the doorbell, the door opened. Daniel was at the door, “Need something? Next time, don’t bother with the doorbell. I’ll give you the code. 250921.” 

Emily didn’t even have time to stop him before he said the code. She couldn’t help but laugh, “Daniel, you’re too trusting. Aren’t you afraid of being tricked? I have a bad memory, so I didn’t actually remember it. No need to give me the code, I’ll only come when you’re 

here.” 

Daniel ignored her other comments and repeated, “250921. If you still can’t remember, I’ll write it down for you!”

Chapter 180 

Emily’s memory was almost photographic. She could easily remember it, but she had said that to make him reconsider. However, he didn’t get the hint and repeated the code. 

It seemed that he was determined to give her the code. 

“No need, I’ve remembered it. If I still can’t, I should consider Improving my memory!” 

It was just a simple six–digit code. If she couldn’t remember it after a few tries, her memory would be terrible. Daniel noticed her remembering, and his eyes sparkled with amusement. He led Emily inside. 

York greeted her, “Ms. Johnson.” 

Emily nodded at York, surprised. She thought Daniel’s personal greeting meant York wasn’t home. York understood Emily’s look and felt helpless. He hadn’t realized that the decisive and powerful Daniel was so devoted in love! 

Daniel personally made tea for Emily. His movements were skillful and elegant, his veins prominent, his fingers long and defined, creating a beautiful sight. It was hard to look away. After making the tea, he poured her a cup, “Try it.” 

Emily took a sip. It was refreshing and sweet. She couldn’t tell if it was the tea, his skill, or his handsome face making her happy. Probably all of the above, as she found it delicious. 

“Here, take this.” After finishing her tea, she remembered her purpose and handed him the check. Daniel took the check. The first thing he noticed was the fifty million dollars. His eyes moved down to Zoey’s signature, and his demeanor turned icy. It only lasted a moment before he quickly composed himself. He didn’t want this mess to affect his mood or scare Emily. 

“Zoey approached you? Did she trouble you? Why are you giving me this?” Daniel frowned, feeling anxious. 

She accepted the check; did she agree to something with Zoey? 

He knew the King family’s intention for a marriage alliance, but had never agreed, thinking they’d give up. Zoey and Emily had no connection, so Zoey’s sudden approach meant she hadn’t given up and knew about his relationship with Emily.
