“Who the hell is this?” 

Emily glanced at the unfamiliar number, her eyebrows knitting together. 

Emily, you really don’t stick to your word! Fifty million dollars–aren’t you worried that’s too much to handle? And what about the people living with you?” 

Zoey’s calm demeanor from their first meeting was long gone; her voice now dripped with venom. 

Emily didn’t recognize the voice right away, especially since Zoey’s tone was nothing like the gentle one from before. 

If it weren’t for the content of the threat, Emily would have struggled to recall who it was. 

Even though Emily had figured out who it was, she played dumb. “Who are you? Calling me in the middle of the night and talking 

nonsense!” 

“Cut the crap. Fifty million dollars–aren’t you afraid it’s your blood money? I don’t believe anyone else would give you fifty million 

dollars!” 

Zoey was nearly livid. 

Emily still dared to play dumb. Zoey’s threats grew more vicious, her eyes full of malice. 

Emily feigned innocence, “What fifty million dollars? I have no idea what you’re talking about. Why don’t you explain it again, and we’ll make sure our stories match?” 

“You bitch! You dare deny it? Don’t forget, we recorded everything!” 

“How much of the recording did you listen to? Besides, I never said I accepted it!” 

Zoey laughed in anger, “You took the check to cash it. Isn’t that evidence enough?” 

She thought this would scare Emily, but Emily showed no fear and instead replied, “First of all, you don’t have any direct evidence that I took the fifty million dollars. Even if I did, wasn’t it because you threatened me to take it? As for cashing it, I don’t need to worry. I’ll just have Daniel help me.” 

“You wouldn’t dare!” 

Zoey shrieked. 

Emily held the phone away from her ear, almost deafened by the scream. 

“Ms. King, I thought heirs from prestigious families like yours would have better tactics. Either you underestimated me, or that’s just your level of intelligence. In either case, you lost fair and square. 

I’m not someone you can control easily. Without Daniel, I’m still like this. And with Daniel standing behind me, you’d better behave and stop provoking me. This time, I only retaliated a little. Next time, it won’t be so simple.*

She didn’t mention that she had some secrets of the King Group, just to see if Zoey would settle down. 

Zoey wanted to say something else, but Emily didn’t bother to waste her breath and hung up the phone.

Over at the Johnson family, Aiden had friends in the circle who happened to share screenshots of Daniel’s latest updates, with someone complaining to Aiden. 

Coupled with the previous photos of Daniel and Emily walking the dog together. 

Seeing the photos and hearing his friends‘ comments, Aiden concluded that Emily was indeed with Daniel. 

He couldn’t help but tell Eli about it. 

Bianca was about to go to an art exhibition and overheard Aiden talking to Eli. 

She was so consumed by jealousy, her nails digging into her flesh as she filled with resentment. How could someone like Emily truly gain 

the favor of someone like Daniel? 

Bianca was so agitated that she blurted out her thoughts, 

“But Bianca, this time it’s not Emily saying it herself. The rumor has spread throughout the circle. It might be true. Besides, we can see that Mr. Smith indeed treats Emily differently.” 

Eli hadn’t thought much of the unremarkable Emily, but now it seemed she had indeed caught Daniel’s eye. If he had known earlier, he wouldn’t have let their relationship sour. 

“Dad, Aiden, this is just a rumor. Mr. Smith hasn’t personally confirmed it. He only posted a photo. Isn’t it possible that Emily deliberately wanted people to misunderstand, so she found someone to take the photo from a good angle to create the illusion?
