“Alright, why did you want to meet me?” 

After Violette passed her words, Emily quickly met Aiden at a coffee shop near the villa. She got straight to the point. 

Aiden frowned at Emily’s calm and indifferent demeanor. 

“Didn’t Violette fill you in? Do you know about Hayden…” 

“Yeah, I know. So what?” 

“How can you be so chill about this? He’s your brother! How can you be so cold?” 

Aiden’s voice was filled with pain as he looked at Emily like she was a stranger. 

Emily lifted her eyelids slightly, her gaze intense as she looked at Aiden. “Say what you want. You never treated me like real family 

anyway. If you’re here to lecture me, I have things to do.” 

With that, Emily stood up to leave. 

Aiden was furious but held back for Hayden’s sake. He quickly called out, “Wait, I won’t lecture you. Let’s talk business.” 

Emily sat back down, waiting for Aiden to continue. 

“The kidnappers are demanding a hundred million dollars in ransom, and we only have three days. The Johnson Group just invested in a 

new project, and we can’t come up with that kind of money so quickly. Plus, there’s no guarantee they’ll release Hayden even if we pay.” 

Aiden’s expression grew darker as he spoke, “Our only hope is to pull some strings and try to get him back. I heard Mr. Smith values you 

highly. Could you ask him for help? If he’s willing, Hayden could come back safe and sound.” 

Emily met his gaze calmly. “What’s in it for me?” 

“What do you mean, ‘what’s in it for you?!” Aiden was shocked. “Emily, he’s your brother! Can’t you set aside past grievances for the sake of family? Dad said that if you save Hayden, we’ll be a family again, and you’ll always be part of the Johnson family.” 

Emily couldn’t help but laugh at that. 

She actually laughed out loud, as if she had heard the funniest joke. 

The Johnson family still thought she cared about their love and family ties.

“What’s so funny?” 

“I’m laughing because you still don’t get it. We have no relationship anymore. If you want me to ask Mr. Smith for help, show some sincerity. The kidnappers want a hundred million dollars. You can’t just ask me to say a few words for nothing.” 

“You!” Aiden frowned, clearly displeased with Emily. He was about to scold her when he met her cold gaze and stopped. 

He sighed in resignation. ‘Fine, what do you want in return?” 

“Twenty percent of the Johnson Group’s shares.” 

“Are you kidding me? Emily, even if we need your help, don’t go overboard! Do you want Mr. Smith to see you as heartless, not caring about your own family? Besides, Mr. Smith only values you because you’re part of the Johnson family. Without that, how long do you think you could stay by his side?” 

“I didn’t know my choice of women depended on their family background. Does your family even compare to mine?” 

At that moment, a clear voice interrupted. 

Daniel walked over, his steps unhurried. 

The sound of his shoes hitting the floor seemed to echo in Aiden’s heart. 

Aiden felt an overwhelming sense of pressure as Daniel approached, making it hard for him to breathe. 

Aiden couldn’t help but think Emily had brought Daniel here to hear their conversation. 

He glared at Emily before turning to Daniel with a forced smile. “Mr. Smith, there’s been a misunderstanding. I just wanted Emily to have the Johnson family’s upbringing and behave properly around you.” 

Daniel’s expression remained calm, but his gaze was icy. 

‘I like Emily just the way she is. And this is how you ask for help? I’m glad that Emily hasn’t been tainted by the Johnson family’s upbringing.” 

Daniel sat next to Emily, their close proximity looking very intimate from Aiden’s perspective. 

Aiden had thought Daniel was just playing around with Emily, but seeing his protective demeanor made him realize he had underestimated her. 

‘Mr. Smith, I apologize for my words. I’ve always seen Emily as a sister. I’m worried because she used to be so reckless. I’m happy she has you now, but please, for her sake, can you help Hayden? He’s been trapped by people from Zephyria, and they want a hundred million dollars in ransom. The Johnson Group can’t come up with that money right now.” 

Aiden seized the opportunity to plead directly with Daniel.

Daniel ignored Aiden and turned to Emily. “What do you think?” 

He was already close to Emily, and as he turned, they got even closer. His warm breath brushed against her face, making her blush. 

Emily knew Daniel was backing her up. She stated her terms. 

Daniel nodded in agreement after hearing her out. 

He turned back to Aiden. “Emily has stated her conditions. If the Johnson family shows sincerity, I’ll help.” 

Aiden’s face darkened. He couldn’t argue with Daniel, but he was reluctant to agree. Plus, it wasn’t his decision to make alone. 

Emily and Daniel didn’t rush him. They leaned back in their chairs, patiently waiting for his response. 

Aiden felt immense pressure, sweating profusely. 

Finally, he came up with a weak excuse. “Mr. Smith, I can’t make decisions about company shares on my own, especially twenty percent. I 

need to discuss it with my father first.” 

Emily laughed mockingly. “I thought you were so great, so concerned about Hayden. Turns out, not so much.” 

“Do you know what it means for the company? How many people’s livelihoods are at stake? Shares aren’t something you just give away.” 

“Seems like you’re not that eager to save Hayden. Fine, we’re done here. Emily, let’s go.” 

Daniel, appearing out of patience, took Emily’s hand to leave. 

Aiden panicked as they started to leave. 

“Wait, Mr. Smith! I misspoke. I’m very anxious to save Hayden. I’ll discuss it with my father right away and get back to you.” 

Aiden watched Daniel’s reaction closely, but he remained indifferent. 

He turned to Emily, desperate. “Emily, it’s twenty percent of the shares. Please wait, as a favor to your mother.” 

“Fine, I’ll give you a chance to discuss and get back to me.” 

Emily softened, knowing that twenty percent of the Johnson Group’s shares was a good deal. She decided to agree.
