At Mason’s order, bodyguards began to enter the room. 

“What the hell is going on here? Mason, what’s your problem? Do you have it out for Emily or something? I invited her here out of goodwill, and you have the audacity to treat her like this?” 

Seeing the situation escalate, Floyd quickly stepped in to block the bodyguards and confronted Mason.

After scolding Mason, Floyd turned to Emily with a look of regret. “Emily, I’m really sorry. I had no idea there was bad blood between you and Mason. If I knew he’d act so stubborn and treat you like this, I wouldn’t have let it happen. He’s probably not thinking straight because of his illness, so please, don’t hold it against him.” 

Floyd’s humility showed how much he valued Mason as an old friend. 

Emily paused and looked at Mason with an authoritative presence that startled him. Mason’s face darkened as he realized that he was affected by her demeanor. 

“I don’t want to treat you because you don’t trust me. Ever heard the saying, ‘If you believe, it works; if you don’t, it doesn’t‘? I’m confident in my medical skills, and I can see what’s wrong with you now. You threatened to tell Daniel I’m a fraud, but I guess you won’t, because first, you’d have to explain how you discovered my medical skills. You’re hiding your illness from Daniel, aren’t you?” 

“How did you know?” Mason was taken aback by her certainty. 

Emily wasn’t guessing. Mason wasn’t just sick; he was poisoned, with the same poison as Daniel. If Mason told Daniel about his 

condition, Daniel would have come to her directly, not Floyd. 

The poisoner likely used a lower dose on Mason due to his age and weaker health, fearing a strong dose might kill him instantly. They 

used a different drug on Mason, aiming to control Daniel. 

“How I know isn’t your concern. What matters is that you’re poisoned. The person who poisoned you did it so discreetly that they could 

poison others just as easily.” 

She didn’t mention Daniel’s poisoning, unsure if Daniel had kept it from Mason. Daniel’s privacy was his own, and the decision to share 

was entirely up to him. 

“Poisoned? Emily, what’s going on?” Floyd was alarmed, realizing why he couldn’t diagnose Mason’s condition. 

“That’s ridiculous! How can you be sure I’m poisoned?” Mason was still skeptical.

Mason was stunned. She knew his symptoms without even taking his pulse. How could she be so accurate? 

Mason glanced at Floyd, looking for some kind of reassurance. 

Floyd quickly jumped in, “I only met her at the door. I didn’t mention your condition to her. The bodyguards can back me up on that. Besides, even I couldn’t figure out some of these symptoms.” 

Mason started to waver, his skepticism slowly fading. 

Emily didn’t hold Mason’s behavior against him, partly because of her respect for Floyd and Daniel, and partly because she knew the poison was affecting his mind and temper. 

“Emily, can you cure Mason’s poisoning?” Floyd asked eagerly. 

“Yes, I can, but…” 

“But what? Even if you identified the poison, it must be a complex one if Floyd couldn’t diagnose it. How can you easily cure it?” Mason snapped back. 

He had been taken to the hospital first, but when they couldn’t diagnose him, Floyd was called. The poisoner was clearly skilled. 

Emily, losing patience with Mason’s provocations, responded, “If I were you, I wouldn’t be foolish enough to offend a doctor. I can cure your poisoning, but the necessary herb is rare. However, I need it for another treatment, so I’m already planning to get it.” 

Hearing there was hope, Floyd felt a wave of relief. He feared Mason might offend Emily and lose their chance. 

“Mason, trust me. If I’m unable to diagnose this, and you’ve tried others, Emily is your only hope. Don’t ruin it now. I don’t want to be embarrassed along with you.” 

Mason, already somewhat convinced, held back his retort. 

“What do you want? If you want me to approve of you and Daniel, forget it!” 

Emily chuckled. “If I wanted to be with Daniel, do you think you could stop me? I treat patients for money. Pay the medical fees, and I’ll treat you.” 

Mason eyed her suspiciously. 

She was really willing to give up on Daniel? Daniel was handsome, wealthy, powerful, and capable. Being with him would bring more than just money. 

“I have my own abilities. I can earn my own money. You decide. Or do you want to see some results first?”

Emily faced Mason’s scrutiny calmly. 

“How can I see results? Mason asked, puzzled. 

Without waiting, Emily took out prepared acupuncture needles and swiftly inserted them into the appropriate points on Mason’s body,

Floyd watched intently, eager to learn.

Mason, slightly embarrassed, didn’t praise Emily. He just responded curtly. 

Floyd rolled his eyes at Mason’s pride. 

Suddenly, Emily spoke, “Five million dollars. Guaranteed cure. One million upfront.” 

Mason’s eyes widened in shock, but he could tell she was serious.
