Chapter 201

Chase, are you really trying to kick me when I’m down?” Bianca’s eyes filled with tears, playing the victim card hard.

Chase had always spoiled Bianca, so his first instinct was to soften up and apologize when he saw her tears welling up.

“Bianca, no, that’s not it at all. I just wanted to get your opinion.*

The moment he said it, Chase regretted his words. Bianca didn’t deserve his sympathy. She wasn’t the sweet, kind person she pretended to

be. She was selfish and cold–hearted.

If she cared even a little, she would’ve noticed his suffering–the bloodshot eyes from sleepless nights, the gaunt cheeks, the hair he was losing in clumps. But she ignored it all, hiding in her room or going out, avoiding him.

“Bianca, I get where you’re coming from, but you need to see my side, too. This mess is your fault. I felt bad for you, so I gave you a

chance to fix it. But since you haven’t come up with a solution, we’ll go with Emily’s idea.”

“If you hadn’t taken credit for Emily’s work, we wouldn’t be in this situation. Hayden and I wouldn’t be suffering, and we could’ve had Mr.

Daniel Smith’s help!”

Chase finally let it all out. Speaking it out loud felt like a weight off his shoulders.

Bianca glared at Chase with tear–filled eyes. “So that’s how you really feel, huh? You’ve been blaming me all along, Chase. If you blame me, why pretend to be so noble? Get out. I don’t want to see you. You’re not the Chase who loved me anymore. Get out!”

She suddenly became agitated, her face turning pale as she coughed violently, looking like she might faint any second.

Chase instinctively took a step forward, but then stopped himself. He shouldn’t feel sorry for her. Emily had warned him that Bianca was good at faking illness. Emily was a doctor; she wouldn’t be wrong.

Besides, why did Bianca always get sick at the most convenient times? Like now, when she was clearly in the wrong, yet she was the one

acting all hurt, ignoring his demands completely.

Chase realized this, and his gaze turned cold. “Fine, I’ll leave. But I’m giving you three days. Either you find a way to clear my name from the plagiarism charges, or you apologize to Emily publicly and let her help me clear this up.”

With that, Chase turned and left, not caring about Bianca’s reaction.

“Jerks, all of them are jerks. They used to praise me for being smart and sensible, but they’re just hypocrites. Since that’s the case, I don’t

need to care about those pathetic feelings anymore,” Bianca muttered angrily, clutching her chest.

Lately, everything seemed to be going wrong for her. She felt dizzy, nauseous, and even noticed her gums bleeding a couple of times while

brushing her teeth. Once she sorted out these messes, she needed a vacation to relax.

Meanwhile, Daniel, after talking to Emily, called Mason as soon as he got home. Mason was still in the hospital, undergoing various tests. Emily’s acupuncture had improved some of his test results, but the cause of his illness remained a mystery.

The renowned doctors Mason had consulted were also unable to figure it out. Stubborn as he was, Mason didn’t say anything but had

decided in mind to ask Emily for treatment.

When Daniel called, Mason, still upset from their last family dinner, ignored the call. But Daniel was persistent and called again, this time

via video.

This Daniel, he’s never been this patient!” Mason grumbled, intending to hang up again. But his hand slipped, and he accidentally

answered the call, revealing his frail appearance in a hospital gown.

Daniel had been ready to check the house’s surveillance or ask the butler if Mason ignored him again. He was caught off guard by the

sight of a weary–looking Mason in hospital attire.

All along, Mason had been imposing in front of Daniel.

Seeing him like this, resembling an ordinary elderly person, momentarily left Daniel in a daze.

Realizing his mistake, Mason quickly ended the video call, feeling embarrassed. He’d never shown such vulnerability to Daniel before. It

felt like his strong image was crumbling.

Daniel’s expression remained unchanged, but his eyes showed a hint of concern. Confirming that Mason was hospitalized, and knowing Emily had visited the hospital that day, Daniel had his people find out Mason’s room number.

With his status, it didn’t take long for the hospital to provide Mason’s details.

Mason was originally worried that Daniel would call again, but when he didn’t receive another call, he also felt uneasy in his heart.

“I thought Daniel cared, but he doesn’t. It’s infuriating.” Mason, still fuming, complained to his butler.

The butler tried to calm him down. “Mr. Smith, Dr. Floyd advised you to stay calm for your health.”

Knowing Mason was just being stubborn, the butler added, “Mr. Smith, Daniel is actually very caring. He looked genuinely worried when he saw you were sick. He might be on his way here right now.”
