“Emily, what’s all this?” 

Violette took the documents, looking confused.

*Just take a look,” Emily said, motioning for her to read. As Violette scanned the pages, Emily continued, “I’m waiting for you to divorce Rhett and then sue him. One charge of extortion for a million bucks should be enough to put him away for a long time. And I’ve got more evidence to back it up.” 

Emily’s face lit up with a smug smile at the mention of the million dollars. “Violette, I told you that million wasn’t something he could just take. He schemed to get that house back then, right? I bet he’s burned through most of that money by now. We’ll use the house as 

collateral.” 

Violette had always been reluctant to part with that house. 

Given the circumstances, the house should stay with Violette, where she had cherished memories with her cousin, Atticus. 

“Emily, you’re so good to me. I feel so ashamed. How could the Johnson family treat someone as kind as you so badly?” 

Violette was both touched and heartbroken. 

Emily, however, had long stopped caring about the Johnson family. Seeing Violette on the verge of tears, she remained calm. 

“Violette, I don’t care about those people anymore. You shouldn’t be sad either. Besides, I’m not someone who gets pushed around now. 

Whatever is owed to me, I’ll get it back.” 

Emily’s smile was genuine and carefree. 

It was clear she meant it; she had truly moved on. 

Violette finally felt reassured. 

After breakfast, Emily first handled two collaboration documents sent by Aaron. She then reviewed the next quarter’s plan from the department managers, took some notes, and sent it back to Aaron. 

By the time she finished, it was almost eleven o’clock. 

Just then, she got a call from Knox. 

“The car to pick you up is waiting at your door. Just hop in when you’re ready.” 

Knox had thought of everything.

“Okay, I just wrapped up. I’ll head out now.” 

“Great, no rush. I’ll wait for you.” 

Knox’s smile deepened, his eyes twinkling mischievously. 

Emily told Violette she was heading out for lunch and got into the car waiting at the door. 

Due to some traffic, she arrived around eleven forty. 

Perfect timing for lunch. 

“Go ahead and order. See if there’s anything you like,” Knox said, handing the menu to Emily.

Emily wasn’t picky, and it wasn’t just a polite phrase. She casually ordered two dishes and handed the menu back to him. “You can order 

the rest. Just enough for us to eat.” 

Even though she’d been back at the Johnson Villa for years, her frugal habits from childhood were deeply ingrained. 

She’d been mocked before for being like a scavenger. In her past life, to avoid embarrassing the Johnson family, she gradually stopped 

expressing those opinions. 

This time, she wouldn’t compromise herself. She’d be true to who she was. 

After all, frugality is a virtue; extravagance is shameful! 

She needed to trust her inherent goodness and not doubt herself. The problem had never been her. 

“Alright!” 

Knox didn’t question or look down on her at all. He respected her and even admired her good habits. 

Once the order was placed, the waiter took the menu to the kitchen. 

While waiting, Emily got up to use the restroom. 

Shortly after she left, a woman with a sweet face but dressed provocatively approached Knox. 

Suddenly, she stumbled, almost spilling water on Knox, and her body fell towards him. 

But Knox, being who he was, born with a silver spoon and familiar with women’s tricks, saw through her plan immediately. 

Before she could spill the water and fall, he sidestepped, avoiding Bianca’s scheme.

The water ended up spilling on Blanca instead. 

Her already revealing outfit became even more transparent.

Bianca pretended to cover her chest, looking pitiful. “Sir, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to. Could you lend me a piece of clothing to cover myself? I’m afraid of other men’s inappropriate stares.” 

Her eyes were watery, paired with a shy and pitiful expression that would melt most men’s hearts. 

Unfortunately for her, she was dealing with Knox. 

Knox stood, his six–foot frame towering over her, his cold gaze making him seem intimidating. 

“Isn’t this the effect you wanted? Stop pretending to be innocent!” 

Knox’s sharp tongue was merciless towards women who threw themselves at him. 

Bianca’s pitiful expression froze. 

She had thought she would succeed. 

She never expected Knox to be so blunt. Other men had always fallen for her act. 

He must be playing hard to get.

Bianca quickly adjusted her expression, her eyes filled with tears as she looked at Knox. “Sir, I didn’t mean to. I wasn’t trying to spill 

water on you. How can you be so cruel? Are you so arrogant to think that every woman who finds you attractive is after you? How sad.” 

She tried a different tactic. 

She wanted to create a contrast. 

She believed that acting weak and pitiful wouldn’t work on Knox. 

Knox crossed his arms, smirking at Bianca’s self–righteous speech. 

“Changing tactics, huh? Do you think this will get my attention? Do you know why I can see right through your act? Because you reek of a 

stench that penetrates to the bone, a filth you can’t hide.” 

Knox’s face showed disgust. 

“You… How can you say that? This is our first meeting. I was just embarrassed and wanted to borrow your clothing to cover myself. You 

treat me like this. My family isn’t bad. Why do you think I’m like those women you mentioned?*

Blanca cried. 

Half of it was genuine, half was an act. 

Knox frowned, thinking Emily would be back soon. He didn’t want their lunch ruined by this nonsense. He was getting impatient. 

“Just state your purpose! Don’t waste my time!” Without Emily around, he didn’t bother hiding his irritation. 

Bianca’s crying was meant to garner sympathy, attracting curious looks from those around them. 

“You underestimate me. I just want an apology. Yes, apologize publicly for humiliating me!” 

Bianca’s face showed stubborn determination. 

Her tough demeanor, combined with her fiery figure, won her support from the onlookers. 

“I think you should be the one apologizing!” 

At that moment, Emily returned from the restroom and spoke coldly.
