Chapter 216 

“Daniel, what’s going on here?” 

Vance and Soren were chatting with Mason, but their minds were elsewhere. 

Vance craned his neck, puzzled. Wasn’t Veda supposed to pick someone up? What’s taking so long?’ 

Then Daniel appeared. 

But to his surprise, Daniel wasn’t alone, nor was he walking side by side with Zoey as a perfect couple. Instead, he was with Emily. 

Vance stole a glance at Mason and then hurriedly approached Daniel, nervous. 

His scrutinizing gaze landed on Emily. “Emily, you really shouldn’t be here today. Even if you want to marry Daniel, there’s no rush. You might end up 

regretting this.” 

He gave Emily a meaningful reminder. 

Thanks for the advice!” Emily smiled, leaving Vance shocked. 

She had already walked past Vance and stood before Mason. 

Emily handed Mason a box of prepared pills. “Mr. Smith, I left in a hurry last time and didn’t bring anything. I heard you weren’t feeling well, so I prepared 

these pills especially for you.” 

Emily smiled gently at Mason. 

These pills were made from a recipe meant to treat Mason’s illness. She had learned from Daniel that Mason was afraid of drinking medicine, so she made 

them into pills instead. 

Mason, being sharp as ever, immediately understood that these were the antidote pills. Even though he felt a bit resentful, he had decided to follow Daniel’s 

advice and wouldn’t show his displeasure in front of Emily. Just as he was about to take the pills, Veda snatched the box. 

Emily had anticipated this and grabbed Veda’s wrist at the same time. 

“Ouch, Emily, you bitch, let go!” 

Veda’s face twisted in pain, and she forgot her manners, cursing loudly. 

Soren, worried about Veda, got agitated too. 

“Emily, let go! This is the Smith Villa, not the Johnson Villa or some dump you used to hang out in. If you hurt Veda, don’t blame us for being rude!” 

Veda’s mother immediately warned Emily, 

Soren couldn’t help but look at Mason. ‘Grandpa, even if you want to give Daniel face for the sake of family harmony, you can’t let Emily stay in the Smith 

Villa after what she’s done!* 

Raina, who had no say in the matter, secretly signaled Emily, seemingly reminding her to let go before Veda got seriously hurt.

Zoey couldn’t hold back and tried to pry Emily’s hand off Veda, 

“Emily, even if you’re a guest, this is too much. Veda grew up pampered and can’t handle rough treatment like you. Let go of her, or Mr. Mason Smith and Mr. Soren Smith will be furious. Even if Daniel wants to protect you, you shouldn’t be so reckless and drag him down.” 

Zoey thought her righteous stance made Emily look even worse. She glanced at Daniel, as if to say she was the real supportive partner, while Emily only 

caused trouble. 

Daniel saw Zoey’s hand scratch Emily, leaving a mark. His eyes flashed coldly. 

He stepped forward and, not wanting to dirty his hands, pushed Zoey away with his elbow. 

Zoey instinctively let go of Emily’s hand in pain. Shocked by Daniel’s sudden move, she stumbled and fell. 

Zoey’s eyes welled up with tears. “Daniel…” 

Daniel ignored Zoey, his cold gaze fixed on Veda. He grabbed the pill box. “Let go!” 

His words were simple but commanding. 

Despite her usual boldness with Daniel, Veda was genuinely afraid when he got serious. She instinctively let go. 

Emily also released Veda’s wrist, her tone calm. “Veda, it’s best not to touch things that aren’t yours. I study medicine, and sometimes the line between 

medicine and poison is thin. You could be in danger.” 

A blatant threat. 

“You!” 

Veda couldn’t do anything to Daniel, but thought she could handle Emily. Furious, she glared at Emily but was scared into silence by Emily’s narrowed, 

dangerous eyes. 

Daniel handed the box to Mason. “These pills are precious. If you lose them, there won’t be more.” 

Mason knew Daniel was defending Emily and felt somewhat resentful, but couldn’t express his anger. After all, these pills were made by Emily as a favor to 

Daniel. 

Mason huffed. 

Soren thought Mason was displeased with Emily and spoke up. “Daniel, even if you value Emily, you shouldn’t blindly trust her. Grandpa’s illness has 

stumped many doctors. What makes her pills any different? You can’t be so naive.” 

Vance chimed in, ‘Exactly, Daniel. Grandpa’s health isn’t something to be taken lightly. What medical skills does Ms. Johnson have?’ 

Raina stood silently, deep in thought, 

Emily, confident, replied, “Vance, Soren, how can you doubt my medical skills? I learned from a village doctor during my travels. It’s very effective. Grandpa will get stronger and healthier, and his illness will improve.” 

She spoke with pride, scanning everyone’s faces.

Raina’s initially tense expression relaxed upon hearing Emily’s background. The others, however, were infuriated by her “blind confidence.” 

“Grandpa, did you hear that? She only learned some basics from a village doctor and dares to treat you. She’s trying to impress without knowing her limits!” 

“Grandpa, you can’t take these pills!” 

“Mr. Smith, if you want health-boosting pills, I know a classmate from a medical family. I can get you better ones. You can’t just take these.” 

Zoey seized the moment to persuade Daniel. “Daniel, medicine can be harmful. You can’t risk Mr. Mason’s safety for Ms. Johnson’s sake!” 

“Enough!” 

Mason interrupted. “Emily meant well. Stop making her out to be the villain. No more arguing.” 

No one expected Mason to defend Emily publicly. 

He even said to Emily, “We had a misunderstanding last time. Come with Daniel to my study, and I’ll give you a proper welcome gift.”
