This slap is for you, for taking me in during winter and not letting me freeze to death on the roadside.”
Emily’s voice was icy.
Aiden felt a pang of regret after hitting her.
But seeing Emily’s indifferent expression, his heart tightened inexplicably.
His face grew even colder. “Fine, since you say that, you owe me your life. Drop the police report.”
Emily shook her head.
Aiden frowned.

Hayden shouted, “Emily, you ungrateful brat! We never stopped looking for you, and Bianca’s been worrying herself sick over you. And this is how you repay her and us? We should’ve let you freeze to death out there.”
His words were venomous.
Bianca tugged on Hayden’s arm. “Hayden, Emily might be speaking out of anger. Don’t say things like this.”
She turned to Emily with a magnanimous expression. “Emily, if you want to blame someone, blame me. Please don’t be mad at Hayden, and don’t call the cops on him. I’ll take the punishment.”
Despite her words, a cold glint flashed in her eyes.
She had no intention of taking the fall for Hayden.
She prided herself on being perfect and couldn’t afford to be tainted by Emily’s accusations.
“No, if you have a problem, come at me. Bianca’s health is poor. Do you really want to harm her?”
Predictably, Hayden, the fool, thought Bianca was sacrificing herself for him and immediately jumped in to defend her.
Emily, having lived through this once before, saw through it all.
She gave a cold smile and said seriously, “None of you is getting away!”
At that moment, Bianca and Hayden felt a chill run down their spines.
Aiden’s face darkened, ready to say something.
Just then, a man in a suit carrying a briefcase walked in.
“Excuse me, which one of you is Ms. Johnson?”

Chapter 25
The newcomer looked like a professional, his gaze sharp and his demeanor calm.
Emily frowned but didn’t step forward immediately.
Bianca hesitated, unsure whether to step forward.
Hayden stood protectively in front of Bianca, coldly questioning the man, “Who are you? What do you want with Ms. Johnson?”
Aiden also watched the man warily, naturally moving to stand in front of Bianca.
They always assumed Bianca was the only one who could be addressed as Ms. Johnson and protected her.
Emily was always the one ignored.
Emily felt a pang of self–pity.
Her heart still hurt a little.

“I’m a lawyer sent by Mr. Smith. I heard Ms. Johnson was having trouble at the police station and came to help. Which one of you is Ms. Johnson?”
The man showed his business card.
This was the police station, and no one would dare impersonate someone sent by the Smith family.
They immediately believed him.
Bianca’s heart leaped with joy. Could it be that James had found out?
Hayden and Aiden had the same thought.
Hayden patted Bianca’s shoulder, reassuring and happy. “Looks like James sent his man. Bianca, you don’t need to worry. Everything will be fine. And next time, don’t try to shield me, okay?”
Bianca nodded, feeling a bit embarrassed. “Hayden, I couldn’t just watch you suffer. I’ll remember next time.”
She stepped forward confidently. “Hello, I’m Bianca. I’ll leave it to you.”
Aiden looked coldly at Emily, “Now that Bianca’s lawyer is here, if you insist on filing a report, don’t ever say we’re family again. Let’s assume that I never brought you back.”
Emily dug her nails into her palm.
She had expected the Johnson family to call a lawyer, but she hadn’t thought James would find out so quickly and personally target her
for Bianca’s sake.
She knew Bianca wouldn’t face any real punishment. With a lawyer and no substantial evidence, and since she hadn’t suffered any real harm, Bianca would get off scot–free.

She was doing this just to disgust Bianca and Hayden.
Bianca had always been a thorn in her side.
“I couldn’t care less! Emily replied coldly, showing no regret.
Aiden’s face darkened, and he left with Bianca and Hayden.
“Emily, are you okay?”
Shortly after Aiden and the others left, Sophia arrived at the police station with a lawyer.
Emily borrowed Sophia’s lawyer.
The rest would be a battle between the lawyers.

“I’m fine. Let’s go. I’ll pay the lawyer’s fee,” Emily said.
Sophia looked hurt. “We’re friends, aren’t we? Don’t be so formal. He’ll do his best.”
Emily waited for the outcome.
But the result was disappointing.
The Smith family’s lawyer was indeed formidable. Though he sympathized with Emily after learning the details, he had to protect his
client’s interests.
In the end, Bianca and Hayden faced no punishment.
Emily’s mood was visibly low when she went to check on Daniel.
Even through the mask, Daniel could sense her gloom.
“How is he?” Charles asked nervously.
Emily didn’t respond, focusing on diagnosing Daniel, checking his pulse on both hands, his complexion, and his tongue.
“You said he was unwell? Tell me the symptoms.” Emily’s voice was distant and cold.
Charles, sensing Emily’s strange mood, was unusually polite. “Doctor, he was in pain during the herbal bath. The water turned black. I’m
worried…”
“That’s normal. I mentioned during the consultation that he would be detoxing. Pain is expected. Next time, don’t waste my time unless it’s necessary!” Emily said bluntly.
Last time, Emily’s attitude wasn’t warm, but it wasn’t as cold as this time.
Charles frowned.

Chapter 25
Daniel, worried Charles might upset Emily, spoke in a cool, magnetic voice. “Sorry, my friend was overly concerned. I feel much better… Your skills are indeed remarkable!”
He almost called her by her real name.
Daniel’s eyes were deep, thinking about the lawyer he had sent.
This all started when Charles called Aaron, worried about Daniel’s condition.
Aaron revealed Emily was dealing with something at the police station.
Daniel, knowing Emily’s identity, sent a lawyer directly.
The lawyer hadn’t reported back yet, but Emily had come here first.
“Continue the herbal baths. As for my skills, if I take on a case, I can cure the patient, as long as you people cooperate! And…” Emily’s gaze fell on Charles. “Don’t cause unnecessary trouble!”
Charles knew she was referring to him and stayed silent.
Emily packed her medical kit, ready to leave.
Her phone rang. Seeing the number, her face darkened.
“Mr. Johnson, what is it?” She lowered her voice, changing her tone.
On the other end, Eli, just back from a business trip and furious about Emily’s actions, called her. Her first words nearly made him explode.
“You ungrateful brat, I’m your father! What did you call me?”
Eli’s voice was loud, piercing through the phone, heard by Charles and Daniel.
Emily walked out, her voice icy. “If you’re calling to scold me, I’m hanging up!”
