Chapter 27
“You actually came back. I thought you were determined to die out there!”
Eli had promised himself he’d stay calm, but the second he saw Emily, he couldn’t help but lose it.
It wasn’t entirely Emily’s fault.
Emily had a way of pushing his buttons, even when she wasn’t trying.
Emily strolled in, her words sharp enough to rile anyone up. “Sorry to burst your bubble, but I’m still kicking.”
“You…
Dad, you promised you’d stay calm!” Bianca jumped in, her innocent eyes pleading with Eli.
Eli took a deep breath, trying to keep his anger in check.
Cleo stood up right away, her voice gentle as she tried to mediate. “Emily, don’t blame your father. He’s just worried about you. Your reputation was already bad, and now you’ve ticked off the Reyes family. It’s only gonna get worse. And you should know, even if you’ve been away for years, that our families’ businesses depend on cooperation. We can’t afford to offend them.”
Emily looked at Cleo’s hypocritical face.
She remembered the cold, heartless words Cleo had said to her in her past life, right before she died.
The memory of that bone-chilling coldness made her shiver.
“You all know exactly how my reputation got trashed!” Emily shot back sarcastically.
‘Of course, it’s because you were always causing trouble and targeting Bianca. That’s why your reputation is what it is. Now what? Are you blaming Bianca and everyone else now?” Hayden snapped, his anger flaring as he saw Bianca’s sad face.
Emily couldn’t be bothered to respond to Hayden.
After all, he was as good as dead to her.
Emily looked coldly at Eli. “Just get to the point.”
She was here to find out about Elijah’s grandson.
Eli was displeased with Emily’s indifference and commanded, “You messed up big time. You’re gonna take the gifts we’ve prepared and go apologize to Byron at the Reyes Villa. Unless he forgives you, the Johnson family will disown you!”
He even added a threat.
In the past, he didn’t even need to say such things. A look of disappointment or anger from him was enough to make Emily, desperate for family affection, immediately cave.
But this time, Eli was going to be disappointed.
“Apologize? Not happening. I am sure you know the truth and that I did nothing wrong!” Emily said coldly.
‘If you don’t apologize, then get out of the Johnson family. I don’t want a daughter like you,” Eli said harshly, determined to scare Emily into submission.
Bianca tried to play the good cop. “Emily, no, please apologize to Dad. He’s just angry. Promise to apologize to Byron!”

Chapter 27
Emily suddenly looked at Bianca and spoke softly, “Wouldn’t it suit you perfectly if I left the Johnson family? Why are you still keeping this up?”
‘Emily, how can you think that of me? I…”
Bianca looked heartbroken, as if she was about to faint from the shock.
“Bianca…” The Johnson family members immediately surrounded her, offering comfort and concern.
Cleo glared at Emily, her eyes cold and filled with hatred.
Emily clenched her fists, her face expressionless.
This was Cleo’s true nature.
She had never wanted Emily to be born. If it weren’t for the need for umbilical cord blood, she wouldn’t have had Emily, and she had nearly died giving birth to her!
Now, just a few truthful words, and Bianca’s act of being sick made Cleo resent her.
Cleo suddenly stepped forward and slapped Emily across the face.
Emily could have dodged.
But she didn’t.
She had already repaid Cleo with her life in her past life. This slap was just to sever the last bit of familial bond in this life.
“This slap is to repay the blood ties. I don’t need the Johnson family anymore!” Emily said firmly.
Cleo met Emily’s gaze.
She felt an inexplicable tremor in her heart.
She was her mother; how could Emily say such heartless words?
Bianca was indeed more considerate.
Eli sneered, “Repay? Can you ever repay enough? Let’s not even talk about the danger of giving birth to you. Just think about everything the Johnson family has provided for you. If you have any backbone, repay all of that first, then talk about leaving the Johnson family.”
Emily met Eli’s gaze without a hint of guilt. “What has the Johnson family really given me over the years, Father? Can you list it out? If you can,
it.”
I’ll repay
“Fine, let’s list it out. Every child in the Johnson family gets a monthly allowance of ten thousand dollars until they turn eighteen…”
‘I didn’t get that!” Emily interrupted Eli.
She knew Bianca got that money, and even more.
When Emily returned to the Johnson family, Aiden was already an adult, and Bianca received several thousand to tens of thousands of dollars in pocket money each month. Then it was Chase, Hayden, Finn…
But not her.
She didn’t care about their money, only about family affection. Having a safe haven was enough for her, so she never complained.
But later, even her tuition and other expenses were never covered. She earned it all through scholarships and competitions.

Otherwise, how could she have so many skills?
‘How could you not get it? Don’t lie,” Eli sneered.
He turned to Cleo. “Did you transfer Emily’s allowance? Show the transfer records, and let’s see how she denies it.”
Cleo’s eyes flickered. “I thought you gave it to her. I didn’t transfer anything.”
Eli’s confident expression faltered. He looked at Aiden, then at Hayden..
They both shook their heads.
Eli was about to ask the accountant, but Emily spoke first. “You don’t need to ask. There was nothing. Not even my tuition or activity fees were covered. I earned it all through scholarships and competitions. As for the place I lived, a small studio, do you want to charge me for that, too? If so, I don’t mind calculating the losses I incurred for Bianca…”
“Emily, don’t drag Bianca into this. Even if you didn’t get the money, you still grew up in the Johnson Villa, not starving or freezing outside,” Aiden interrupted, worried about Bianca’s health.
Emily didn’t want to argue with these people.
She said coldly, “Are you sure you won’t tell me about Elijah’s grandson?”
“You think you can get that information without apologizing? Dream on! Didn’t you say you don’t need the Johnson family? Then leave now. Without our protection, let’s see how the Reyes family deals with you. Don’t come crying back later!”
Eli was furious, his words harsh.
Fine! But the one who will regret it won’t be me!” Emily’s cold gaze swept over everyone present. She took one last look at the Johnson Villa and walked away decisively.
Her final words were not a threat, but a warning.
Eli snorted, not taking Emily’s words seriously.
But shortly after Emily left, Isaac and Sabrina arrived at the Johnson Villa, carrying Byron.
Isaac spoke as soon as he arrived, “Eli, Byron is in this state now. You need to give us an explanation. Where’s Emily? Bring her out!”
