Kieran, cut the crap!” York said immediately; he was taken aback by Kieran’s outburst. 

Daniel was really into Emily these days, and Kieran’s reckless comments could easily set him off.

York quickly stepped in before Kieran could make things worse. “Ms. Johnson saved Mr. Smith’s life. There’s no way she’d hurt him.” 

York shot Kieran a warning look, but Kieran didn’t get the hint. 

Instead, Kieran blurted out, “What if she planned the car accident?” 

Daniel, who had been quiet until now, fixed Kieran with a cold stare and said calmly, “I’ve got a new job for you.” 

Kieran’s ears perked up at the mention of a new task. “Just say the word, Mr. Smith.” 

“The Aquilonia project needs someone to oversee it. You leave immediately.” 

Kieran’s face fell, but under Mr. Smith’s stern gaze, he didn’t dare argue and left with his head down. 

York shook his head in resignation as he watched Kieran leave. He had tried to warn him, but Kieran just didn’t get it. 

“What is it?” Daniel asked, lifting his gaze slightly to look at York. 

“I’ve taken care of the news about your accident online, but someone is still digging into Ms. Johnson’s identity.” 

“Who?” 

“People from the Johnson family. Ms. Johnson’s face was disfigured and her hair was a mess at the time, so her family didn’t recognize her. She’s had a rough time at the Johnson Villa. Do you want me to handle the Johnson family?” 

York had discovered the Johnson family’s mistreatment of Emily while investigating her background. This was one of the reasons he had stopped Kieran from talking further. Emily had already been through enough, and she didn’t deserve to be wrongly accused after saving 

Daniel. 

“Just make sure the Johnson family doesn’t find out it’s her. No need to interfere too much. She might prefer to handle it herself, Daniel replied, his eyes deepening as he thought about her transformation. 

“Got it.” 

“How’s the investigation into the car accident going?” Daniel shifted the topic. 

‘So far, we’ve found that some of the Smith family’s relatives are involved. They sure are not innocent, but I suspect there’s a mastermind behind them.” 

“Good, keep digging.” 

Daniel’s gaze was intense, his expression calm.

Daniel frowned, clearly uninterested. 

York suddenly remembered something and continued, “By the way, I saw Ms. Emily Johnson’s name on the judges‘ list. And on the participants list, there’s Bianca, Ms. Johnson’s sister.” 

Daniel’s gaze turned icy as he looked at York. 

York swallowed hard. He hadn’t intentionally withheld this information; he had simply forgotten. But he didn’t dare explain and waited nervously for Daniel’s response. “Mr. Smith, given your condition, do you still want to attend?” 

“Make it happen. Since it’s for me, I should be there.” 

Daniel’s voice was cold, and his tone calm. 

York had anticipated this response and immediately complied. 

Just as York finished reporting, Charles called. 

“Daniel, I talked to the doctor. They said you can be discharged today and continue treatment at the villa.” 

“Good, I’ll be discharged today,” Daniel replied calmly. 

The hospital doctor had suggested another day of observation, but Charles didn’t dare argue and obediently made the arrangements. 

Charles relayed the news to Aaron, and Emily soon found out as well. 

Emily lived close to Daniel. If she weren’t worried about being discovered, she wouldn’t have to sneak out of the villa. So, on the day she got the news, she changed her outfit, put on a mask, and went to Daniel’s place. 

Emily first checked Daniel’s complexion. Thankfully, the toxins hadn’t spread. She scanned the surroundings, her expression serious as she seemed to inspect every corner. 

Charles, watching her, couldn’t help but joke, “Are you gonna tell me Daniel’s poisoning is some kind of mystical curse?” 

Emily shot him a glare. “You should consider writing fiction.”

“Your imagination is impressive,” Emily mocked. 

Charles was taken aback. “You…” 

He rolled up his sleeves, ready to confront Emily.

Daniel gave him a cold look. Charles, knock it off 

Charles realized Daniel was getting annoyed and didn’t dare say more.

He tolerated Emily’s attitude because she was treating Daniel. Emily, seeing Charles back down, felt oddly pleased. Daniel’s authority was undeniable. 

Emily quickly refocused and instructed, “Prepare a medicinal bath and take off your clothes. I’ll treat you.” 

York immediately went to make arrangements. 

Charles protested, “Wait, are you doing this on purpose? Last time, he didn’t have to undress. Sure, Daniel has a great body, but do you really think…” 

“Enough!” 

With Emily’s command, Charles found himself unable to speak, his mouth moving but no sound coming out. He looked shocked and terrified, pointing at his mouth and then at Emily. 

Daniel could tell Charles was being too talkative, something he had often found annoying. But Charles was still his friend. 

Daniel’s deep eyes looked at Emily, his lashes fluttering slightly. 

Emily, feeling his gaze, unexpectedly softened. “He was too noisy, disrupting my treatment. Don’t worry, it will wear off in two hours.” 

“Alright.” 

Daniel didn’t plead for Charles. He even gave him a warning look, telling him to behave. 

“Mr. Smith, the medicinal bath is ready,” York announced. 

Emily and Daniel headed to the bathroom in unison. Charles tried to follow, but both Emily and Daniel shot him cold looks. 

“You stay here.” 

“You don’t need to come.” 

They spoke in unison, leaving York and Charles stunned by their synchronicity. Even couples weren’t this in sync. 

Inside the small bathroom, the air was thick with the scent of herbs, making their figures appear hazy and dreamlike. 

Daniel’s gaze grew deeper, more intoxicating. With elegant, practiced movements, he loosened his tie and began unbuttoning his shirt. His muscular chest became visible through the mist, sparking the imagination. 

Emily prided herself on her professionalism, usually not giving such sights a second glance. But this wasn’t a usual situation. She allowed herself a few more looks, given the rare opportunity. 

She was caught sneaking a peek by Daniel, who said in a voice made even more magnetic by the steam, “You can look openly.”
