A ripple of shocked cries ran through the crowd. Everyone’s attention had been fixed on Ava at the center of the room–no one had expected Ysabel, a woman who never played by the rules, to step in and steal the 

moment. 

When Ysabel’s voice rang out, it was like a bomb dropped into the crowd, leaving people stunned and buzzing. 

“Is this for real? What kind of scene is this–now women are competing with men?” 

“If I didn’t know Ms. Severn has several husbands, I’d think she swung the other way…” 

“Oh my God. Ms. Severn is so cool. She’s not inferior to any man at all. I can’t believe I’m shipping this….” 

Ava looked at the woman standing before her. Ysabel had platinum–blond hair, eyes as clear and sharp as rubies, and pale, cool–toned skin. She was strikingly tall–easily over six feet tall by the look of her. 

She resembled a vampire countess who stepped straight out of medieval times–breathtakingly beautiful, distant, and untouchable. The white tailcoat she wore hugged her figure perfectly. The moment she appeared, her presence dominated the room, making it impossible to look away. 

“Ms. Morren, may I have the honor of the opening dance with you?” Ysabel stepped closer, looking down at the doll–like young woman in front of her, and repeated the question. 

Ava stared at her, momentarily dazed, almost overwhelmed by Ysabel’s commanding aura. 

“Oh d*mn–she’s serious…” 

“Good lord, who is Ms. Morren going to choose? I’m dying to know. This is a once–in–a–lifetime scene…” 

“Chief Justice Ethan Brock, Holcomb Corporation’s heir Keith Holcomb, rising business star Mason Heiser, Major Caswell of the Eastern Galactic Fleet, and even top celebrity Ryan Brock. This is unreal. No novel would dare write this. I’m so happy I might pass out…” 

“I’ve already imagined ten thousand words of scenes I’m not allowed to describe. The competition is brutal -hurry up and fight for her! Our queen deserves them all. Don’t let a single one escape…” 

“Ysabel hangs around men all day and now really thinks she’s one of them? Is something wrong with her or what…” 

Ava quickly came back to her senses. Her gaze swept over the men standing nearby before finally settling on Ysabel. A genuine smile spread across her face. 

“Of course,” she replied softly. “It would be my honor.” 

She placed her hand in Ysabel’s palm.

Ysabel smiled, then turned to the surrounding men and gave them an infuriatingly smug grin. “Sorry, gentlemen. Ms. Morren will be dancing the opening dance with me. You’ll have to find other partners? 

Ethan, Keith, Mason, Laurent, and Ryan were speechless. 

Ysabel took in every darkened expression, her smile growing bolder, openly provoking them all. 

“I’m taking her. Step aside, all of you. When I decide to be cool, there’s no room left for men.” 

Ava looked at Ysabel with undisguised admiration. 

If she had initially felt only gratitude when Ysabel stepped forward to help her, now she was completely swept away by Ysabel’s charisma. 

“Oh my God, this moment–I’ll remember it forever. Ms. Severn is so dominant. I want her to be my husband!” 

“Girl, just keep that in your head. Two women together is illegal, okay? Besides, Ms. Severn has husbands already. You want to get taken away and dissected for research or what?” – 

Ysabel slipped one arm around Ava’s waist and lowered her head, smiling at the starstruck expression on Ava’s face. 

“Ms. Morren, your coming–of–age ceremony is going to be unmatched in history. Dancing the opening dance with another woman–what made you decide that?” 

Ava laughed, her smile bright and otherworldly, like a fairy fallen into the mortal world. 

“Who says the opening dance has to be with a man? Ms. Severn, you’re a woman who doesn’t bow to society’s rules. Coincidentally, I’m not a well–behaved, obedient girl either.” 

Ysabel laughed openly. “Those words pleased me very much. Ms. Morren, I see something different in you.” 

The two of them moved together across the floor like a pair of butterflies in flight, drawing every gaze in the room. Ava danced beautifully–far better than anyone expected. She smiled as she moved, her eyes shining as she exchanged glances with Ysabel, her entire presence glowing. 

“May I ask?” Ava said, looking up at her. “Why did you step forward? We hadn’t even spoken before tonight.” 

Ysabel met her eyes calmly. “I thought you were asking me for help. Faced with such a delicate, pitiful, helpless young lady, no one with a conscience could remain indifferent.” 

She paused, then added with a faint smile, “Besides, men are far too rough. Seeing a beautiful girl like you standing among them gives me the uncomfortable feeling of a beauty surrounded by beasts.”
