The Five Powerhoren Who Match the Unwilling Ende
Chapter 16 The Awkward Ride

Ava just wanted the elevator to reach the 22nd floor faster. She kept her eyes on the red numbers as they jumped upward. When it stopped at the 16th floor, the doors opened, and a man with short purple hair stood outside.
He looked a little surprised when he saw the people inside, then walked in with a polite smile. He nodded slightly to everyone before standing near the back. Only then did Keith notice that a woman was already standing quietly in the corner. He quickly looked away and stood beside Ethan.
Standing behind four tall men made Ava nervous. She thought it was a good thing she had entered first. Hiding in the corner made her feel much safer.
Please, hurry up. Hurry up.
She prayed silently and kept her eyes on the numbers that continued to change.
When it reached the 20th floor, then the 21st, the elevator stopped again. Three men in military uniforms were waiting outside. The one in the middle was the tallest. His black uniform gave off a strong sense of authority.
Ava watched as his gaze swept across the elevator before he stepped inside without saying anything.
The moment he came in, she felt like she could barely breathe. She quietly took a small breath, hoping no one would notice.
But all of them had sharp hearing. The man under the military cap glanced at her with cold eyes. Ava straightened up right away and grabbed the handrail behind her so tightly that her fingers turned white.
She coughed lightly to cover up her awkwardness. The atmosphere was so tense that she could hardly stand it.
The five men did not step too close to her. They even kept a small distance, leaving the space around her empty like she was in a bubble. But that only meant when she got off later, she would have to walk through all of them.
It was stressful.
After the doors closed again, the man wearing a mask chuckled. “Well, everyone’s here. How about we sit down together later?”
No one replied. He didn’t seem to care and looked as if he had only spoken casually.

When the doors opened, Ava lowered her head and walked out of the corner. Every step felt heavy, and the air was filled with a strong masculine scent that made her uneasy.
Someone’s hand lightly pressed against the elevator door to keep it open.
Ava’s dress looked beautiful, but it made it hard to walk. Her boots hit the floor with a dull thud. At that moment, she regretted not wearing something sporty instead of dressing up just to look good.
She could feel several eyes on her. Her heart pounded fast as she walked through the narrow path between them.
Just as she was about to step out of the elevator, she twisted her ankle. She stumbled and grabbed someone’s arm for balance. A low, pleasant voice asked near her ear, “Are you alright, miss?”
His voice was deep and smooth, like fine aged wine. Ava looked up and saw that it was the gentle–looking man who seemed like a gentleman. She quickly let go, her face burning red. It was beyond embarrassing.
“I’m sorry,” Ava said quickly before running out. She looked like someone being chased by a
monster.
When the doors closed again, Ryan laughed. “You sure speak gently. Don’t forget, you’re a married man now.”
Keith looked down at the sleeve she had grabbed earlier. The fabric was wrinkled. He frowned, took off his jacket, and hung it over his arm. Then he looked at Ryan. “Right back at you.”
Ryan snorted. “I never agreed to this. If you want to do it, go ahead.”
Ethan knew he had been in a bad mood lately and was holding a grudge, but there was no need to act so prickly. “Ryan.”
Mason glanced at them and said lazily, “Since everyone’s here, why don’t we sit down and talk?”
Ava had no idea that she had just met several of her potential matches in the elevator. Because she had decided to withdraw, she never really paid attention to who they were. Aside from the brief introduction Jane had given her, she knew almost nothing about their looks or personalities. That was why she had not recognized them just now.
She waited on the 22nd floor for a short while before Lianne arrived.
“Sorry. Have you been waiting long, Ava?” Lianne said cheerfully as she walked over and linked arms with her.

Lianne proudly pulled out a freshly printed photo. In the picture, a young woman was smiling brightly beside a tall, handsome man. His smile was gentle, and a bold signature was written at the bottom.
“He’s so nice, just like everyone said. No attitude at all. No wonder he’s been famous for so many years. He’s my idol! I grew up watching his movies and shows,” Lianne said excitedly.
