Ava glanced at him and let him buckle her seatbelt, murmuring, “This is the first time in twenty–five years I’ve ever been on a first–class ship. I never imagined I’d sit here one day.”Â
Mason looked into her eyes and said thoughtfully, “All the hardships are behind you. From now on, your life is only going to be bright.”Â
The trip to Pluto would take two and a half hours. Ava had stayed up late last night, and with the first–class seat being so comfortable, she quickly drifted off.Â
Mason pulled out a blanket, unfolded it carefully, and draped it over her. Then he closed the curtain, turning their space into a private little world.Â
He tilted his head and studied her face, listening to the soft rhythm of her breathing. The air around him seemed soaked with her sweet scent.Â

He didn’t even want to blink, just kept watching her. After a long while, he reached out, fingers tracing lightly over her forehead, her eyebrows, her nose, and finally, he brushed her lips softly.Â
His gaze was heavy and restless. After a long pause, he let out a quiet laugh and lowered his voice. “Ava, you’re my cure… Your instincts were right. I am dangerous. I’m afraid I can’t control myself… Ava, don’t be scared of me, okay?”Â
His voice sank lower, almost a whisper right by her ear. Ava slept restlessly, shifted slightly, and drew her brows together, but she did not wake.Â
Mason looked solemn, his features sharp and unreadable. He restrained himself, only brushing a light touch against her forehead before pulling away. Then he activated his Holoband and turned back to work.Â
Ava slept all the way until the starship was about to land.Â
She opened her eyes, still groggy, and rubbed them lightly. “Are we there?”Â
Mason closed his Holoband and looked at her. “We’re at Pluto,”Â
Ava felt a slight sense of restriction. She lowered her gaze and realized a blanket had been draped over her. She quickly folded it up. “How long was I out?”Â
“The moment you got on the starship, we barely exchanged a few words before you fell asleep. You slept pretty well.”Â
Ava felt a little embarrassed. “Sorry, I was too excited about going to Pluto last night, so I couldn’t fall asleep and ended up staying up late.” As she spoke, she unfastened her seatbelt.Â

Mason pulled the curtain aside, stood up, and reached out his hand toward her. “Let’s go.”Â
The hotel staff were waiting at the exit, holding a sign. Mason brought Ava into a light armored vehicle, and the two of them headed toward the hotel.Â
After completing the check–in, Ava took her key card. He had not lied to her. He really had booked two separate rooms.Â
Their rooms were directly across from each other. She opened her door, glanced at Mason, and said softly, “I’m going to unpack first. Call me if you need anything.”Â
She said that and closed the door behind her. Mason glanced at her room number, then at the keycard in his hand, and went into his own room.Â
Ava hung up her clothes and walked over to the window. She stood there looking down at the city, and at a glance, it felt as if the entire world had been wrapped in ice and snow.Â
Before long, there was a knock at the door. She went over and checked the door monitor, and when she saw Mason standing outside, she quickly opened it.Â
Mason stood in front of her, tall and relaxed, one hand tucked into his pocket. “You were sleeping so soundly on the starship that I did not wake you when they served the meal. Are you hungry now? Do you want to go downstairs and get something to eat?”Â
“I am not really hungry,” Ava said. “What about you?”Â
“I am fine,” Mason replied with a smile. “You are not going to invite me in?”Â
Ava stepped aside when she heard that, making room for him. “Come in.”Â
Mason walked into her space, glanced around, and commented casually, “The room is passable. Do you like it? If it is not your style, we can ask to change to another one.”Â
She shook her head. “No. I think it is nice. I like it.”Â
Mason went into the sitting area and sat down on the sofa, his hands clasped together with his elbows resting on his knees. “Everything is sorted, right? Then we can go have lunch now, and walk around a bit afterward.”Â
“Give me a moment,” Ava said. She went into the bedroom to grab her scarf and hat.Â
Mason helped her straighten the scarf, put the hat on for her, then took her hand and led herÂ
out.Â

When they reached the restaurant on the first floor, Mason said, “We will keep lunch simple here. Jason has already arranged a guide, and he will come pick us up later.”Â
“You even hired a guide?”Â
Mason smiled. “When we are traveling somewhere unfamiliar, the most important thing is to relax. Spending a little money to make sure we are comfortable is always worth it.”Â
After they left the restaurant, a man approached them quickly and spoke to Mason with evident respect. “Hello, Mr. Heiser. I am Jalal Martin, and I will be in charge of your itinerary for the next two days.”Â
